I enjoyed that musical. Saw it at Trafalgar Studios a few years ago with Daniel Boys and Julie Atherton. That's the one. I managed to get a Broadway cast recording.

The only problems I had with the show (weird pacing) would be easily fixed by a longer version of the musical, which I hope comes about. Sadly only about a third full yesterday. Apparently, there are rules with the length of time for a musical at The Fringe. I'm not sure exactly what those rules are however it's the reason that the musical Six (which I've yet to see) is very short in length. It's because it started at The Fringe.

Thanks oxfordsimon. Looking them up, I know who Adam Thomas is. Still no idea about Nikita Kanda, even after a Google search!
But thank you anyway.

You know, if he's in it that long, having Leyton and his partner performing at the Theatre.con event would be quite a coup, would it not? Also good promotion- both ways- for those little VT's they show at the beginning of each dance.

Angela Scanlan just announced.
With each announcement, it's like winning a Will Wonka golden ticket!

There are no other exterior sets. One Short Day has already been filmed. I wonder if they're keeping those three egg-shaped puppets that run on during One Short Day and have the extendable necks?

And The Bridges of Madison County- in fact, anything by Jason Robert Brown Did you see it at the Menier? It wasn't that long ago, maybe 2019? I went to it but for some reason can remember only that Jenna Russell was in it but not much else! I did. I have never forgotten it!

May I just clarify, if they've announced that Heathers is closing, does that mean the production at The Other Palace AND the touring production?
Or has the touring production already closed? It's just that someone in a post above made reference to it going to Wimbledon.
Quite frankly, this show has been running for so long, it's hard to keep up!

Based upon everyone's recommendations I binged watched this yesterday.
Loved it.
Co-incidentally it's all filmed around inner city Sydney where, until recently, my grand mother lived. I sill have both an Uncle and cousin (my Uncle's son) living there.
Growing up, traditionally Aussie sitcoms weren't that good and the sets looked cheap. However this was great, fresh and well written- very subtle on the way that the two leads got together.
The mother was a nightmare!
I love the Māori co-worked at the Micro- Brewery!
Apparently the two leads are actually married and it has been commissioned for Series two!

I'm sorry bit I too dislike Leyton.
I don't give a flying toss about his sexuality. If you're gay, that's fine. If you're not, that's okay too. Whilst he's clearly talented I've not seen him in anything I liked.
I don't watch that Teachers TV show he's in. I saw him in Rent and thought he over-played Angel.
Krishnan Guru-Murthy- I did not see that coming but that caters for the Asian demographic, just as Leyton carers for the LGBT+ demographic.
I think Angela Rippon will look stunning and be graceful in the ballroom dances. Especially the way she holds herself. However I fear she may struggle with the Latin dances. And there the older demographic covered.
And if she dos well and progresses quite far into the competition, Gloria Hunniford had better watch out!
I think on Saturday night when the phone lines open to vote, all of the nursing homes will have even more excuse to do so with her on our screen.

I'd really love to see a revival of Parade. Considering its surprising success on broadway, I'd love them to transfer the recent broadway revival here. And The Bridges of Madison County- in fact, anything by Jason Robert Brown

I have a extremely vague recollection of an old Rumpelstiltskin film as a child.
All I can remember was a spindle and if the Prince could work out his name, that would break the spell.
And the dwarf dancing around a camp fire singing 'Rumpelstiltskin is my name! Rumpelstiltskin is my name' and the Prince overlooking the from the cliff ledge above. But that's all I remember.

Slightly off topic but as we're talking fairy tales and dwarfs, I m surprised to date that Disney hasn't adapted Rumpelstiltskin.

Please tell me in the close up shots of her face Elphabah won't be wearing a nose ring?
Remove that bloody nose-ring Cynthia!

All in all, this show is magnificent in almost every way except in its farcical humour, which doesn't work as well as the character-based humour. What a wonderful review Steve. Your enjoyment of the performance really come across. I've not seen the show but I wonder if the farcical humour you have referred to is because of the age of the piece? Like, that was funny at the time the show was written?
