I think a couple of previous meet ups were held in the foyer of the NT between matinee and evening shows. Or the Phoenix Arts Club

Is it a ‘first Friday in the month’ type affair? I think it's actually the last. He announced the date of the next one, but I can't remember. As soon as I know, I will post the date. On Friday night we has a group in who were visiting London from Manchester!

This was held again last night.
Again, maximum capacity; this time with a nod to the recent Olivier Awards.
When the play a snippet of a song to guess the show (relatively easy) and then the year that it opened of either Broadway, or the West End- that's hard!
Group sizes vary. There are young and old.
Throughout the rounds the staff at the Theatre Diner sing.
(I think) we came about fifth or sixth, so slipped down from last month.

Another one that just won't die is Blood Brothers.
This will just continue to tour over and over again, with Calendar Girls snapping at its heals.

I've not read this personally, but am certainly aware of it
Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent
The New York Times bestselling memoir of Anthony Rapp, star of Broadway's Pulitzer Prize–winning musical Rent.
Anthony Rapp had a special feeling about Jonathan Larson's rock musical Rent as early as his first audition, which won him a starring role as the video artist Mark Cohen. The Pulitzer Prize-winning Rent opened to thunderous acclaim off-Broadway—but even as friends and family were celebrating the show's first success, they were also mourning Jonathan Larson's sudden death from an aortic aneurysm. And when Anthony's mom began to lose her battle with cancer, Anthony found himself struggling to balance his life in the theater with his responsibility to his family.
In Without You, Anthony tells of his exhilarating journey with the cast and crew of Rent as well as the intimacies of his personal life behind the curtain. Marked by fledgling love and devastating loss, Without You is an exceptional memoir of the world of theater, the love of a son for his mother, and maturity won far too early.

It was amazing that Stamp agreed to do it.
It was certainly a break-out role for Craig Pierce who had only starred in LA Confidential before that after leaving neighbours- a role that was originally offered to Jason Donovan who turned it down as, at the time, he was over here fighting a legal case against a newspaper who were questioning his sexuality, a case which he won.
Starring in such a film would not have helped his case!
And here you had three straight actors portraying such colourful characters.
There are classic one liners, mostly delivered by Stamp in his dry tone:
"Now listen here, you mullet. Why don't you just light your tampon, and blow your box apart? Because it's the only bang you're ever gonna get, sweetheart!"
"That's just what this country needs: a cock in a frock on a rock."
"Is it true when you were born the doctor turned around and slapped your mother?"
"Oh, for goodness sakes, get down off that crucifix. Someone needs the wood."
"One more push, I'm gonna to smack his face so hard he'll have to stick his toothbrush up his arse to clean his teeth!"

Miss LuPone turned 75 yesterday.
I also receive notification from a friend yesterday that he is attending her Sydney concert in mid-June. He paid AUD 130 per ticket.

If there were an English cast recording, I'd give it a go.
I don't know how recent this was but I was in the ABBA Museum abut a week before the whole country was locked down for Covid and there was no mention of it.
At the end the museum details what each member of ABBA did next. There was reference to Chess- in fact a whole large section and Krystina, but not Hjälp Sökes (Help Wanted).

Two little known facts about the first film:
1/ In one of the final dance sequences where they're dressed a frill-necked lizards, and they stick their blue tongues out, for Terence Stamp, that was the last straw.
Through make-up and costumes that had 'transformed' him into a woman, made his wear outlandish outfits and lip-synch classic songs, but the blue tongues was where he drew the line.
2/ A lot of people don't know this but Stephen Elliot, who directed the first film, also has a cameo.
When the Pricilla bus finally arrives at it's destination at the resort, there are the holiday reps there to greet them, one of which engages in conversation. That is Stephen Elliott.
One of the great things about the first film are the fantastic shots of central Australia.
Of course there is the juxtaposition of the colours of the costumes and boas against that arid backdrop.

What I also love about this woman is whilst Ms Waddingham's success may appear to be overnight, she is a theatre stalwart with previous roles on TV in Benidorm and she seems to be taking all of this in her stride and not letting it go to her head.
And she's not forgetting where she's come from in terms of her stage work and theatre background.
The other great thing is that her success holds a torch for other performers in the industry who can continue to strive in order to achieve both similar recognition and success.

Looks like a deep fake edit of the original trailer. There has been no talk of this being made. He’s got his armour on from the Henry Vth thing he did, and they are assorted Zendaya images from across her career. Edit: it was a superbowl ad from this year. I hope you're right- because the original should not be touched! Just out of curiosity, an add for what?

May I recommend that you first attend, gauge what it's like and determine how hard you deem the level of questions are before doing so? That's a fair point, but I'm a little hesitant to go in on my own. (Especially, as you say, not knowing if I'll contribute to the team or not.) Do they allow people who just want to spectate and not participate? You can ask but not that I am aware of- again, it's reaching capacity. Just turn up, join a team and see how you do!

Looks like the classic Tim Burton/Johnny Depp adult fairytale had been remade.
This time both Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya star in 'Edward Scissorhands' remake!
For those of you old enough to remember the original (I know I am) I thought the ensemble cast of neighbours were all excellent!

In that case, we need a Theatre Board team! May I recommend that you first attend, gauge what it's like and determine how hard you deem the level of questions are before doing so? I am part of an existing team however as a solo person turning up, they will gladly find a team for you to sit with. It does appear to be growing in popularity. Last time there were 18 teams, with one team having actually downstairs as they had reached capacity (to be fair, they were a little drunk so probably for the best in hindsight).

Firstly, you may (or not) have seen my posts about the Theatre Quiz. Cost £10. At it's core, it's a Musical Theatre Quiz- West End and Broadway. Occasionally, it's themed; last one was Disney. This one is the Oliviers. It doesn't matter when you come (unless you're incredibly competitive) but every person there has an interest in theatre. Secondly there the Overtures Piano Bar. Now, I've not actually been myself but my understanding is that there are guys & girls of all ages, all of whom are stagey, and singing musical theatre songs, with reckless abandon, at the top of their lungs. Get some alcohol and let the inner stagey diva out! I hope this helps! Thanks, yes it does. I'll make notes about these. Is the quiz competition individual or teams? I have read something about the bar/restaurant below the Phoenix Theatre doing spontaneous MT performances, but wasn't sure how welcome a non-participant (but really good audience) would be. That's why the idea of going with a group appeals to me, so I won't stick out or make an idiot out of myself. (I've got no inner stagey diva to let out... I wouldn't even do karaoke at a friend's house recently, let alone in public!) Thanks again! The quiz is in teams

sfsusan, I'll tell you what I explained to clarefh
If you're looking to initially meet some theatre/stagey type people with the intention of an eventual theatre trip and are London based then can I make two suggestions?

Given that all performers are preforming on roller skates I predict this is going to be an insurance liability nightmare!

It's in English.
It was originally in Swedish. I remember it was playing when I was in Gotherberg in '95 at Christmas. I am an ABBA fan and remember at the time even contemplated purchasing a ticket but then came to the sudden realisation that I wouldn't be able to understand it.
From what I have learnt since, this was a full stage production.
Like Les Miserable it was reworked and translated- co-incidentally by Herbert Kretzmer- into English and there was a concert held at Carnegie Hall where the CD was recorded.
That concert version was what transferred to the Royal Albert Hall.
I can't remember how many nights it ran for but what I do remember was that I was in a higher/balcony seat and when you looked across the audience, it was sea of blonde heads. I reckon they have have called any Swede the Embassy had on record to attend! And more excitingly, both Benny & Bjorn were there in the audience, who were later called up onto the stage.
