God I'd love the Sarah Brightman production to transfer. I think her name could sell it even after the savoy show. Would be a great Coliseum show

Playing Australia summer 2024, so a summer 2025 London run would be 2 years after savoy. And Sarah's name would sell it regardless of the show and it would appeal to the opera and classical crowd as well as musical theatre fans.
Plus sweeney Todd comes along fairly regularly so why not sunset. Maybe sunset will be the new sweeney for star lead concerts/limited runs

Just saying it's not out the rheims of possibility that it could end up on these shores eventually. This announcement certainly seems to have created more excitement online than the initial savoy production announcement did.

The idea that Sarah Brightman might appeal to opera fans is certainly a unique and original take

Not a very promising creative team behind the Brightman Sunset - I can't see any of those people producing something that would warrant Sunset to be in London two years after another production.
Besides (and I know we said this before) but is she an actress? This certainly looks to be in the traditional vein of Sunset - has she really got the chops these days? Or even the voice? She's a nice soprano but like...has she really got a worthwhile Norma in the tank?

Sarah Brightman certainly has a ‘unique’ choice of vocals for this role….
She’s sure got ‘crazy’ sorted, though it will be hard to see any emotion through all that facial work…

A friend and I are already taking bets that she'll have to bring in a scarf for the Salome bit.

You’re welcome ! She looks fabulous in that photo She's 62 now. I can't help but feel that the image is heavily Photoshopped. Sarah's always been more about style than substance; this image is definitely in her wheelhouse.

And it's more about being a different audience to the Nicole production Opera Australia leans heavily into musical theatre to subsidize their classical repertoire. Don't forget they did the outdoor Phantom and West Side Story, as well as A Little Night Music in the past. They did a really fun production of Pirates of Penzance with Anthony Warlow playing the Pirate King kitted out as Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow.

I think it would be hugely successful as a cinema event since she has global popularity. The Hollywood version seems stuck in limbo, and she's still v close to ALW.
I recall many years ago that she was due to play Jessie Matthews of whom she was then the spitting image and whose voice isn't dissimilar. Shame that never happened

There no denying this woman can sing but I wonder, is it the right sort of voice for Norma?

The director already directed Sunset in South Africa 10 years ago.

Tim's Instagram account is always entertaining. Not sure I would cast him opposite Brightman but could be an interesting dynamic. He's good pals with Courtney Act who could easily understudy Norma!
