I can't speak to West End theatres, but in NYC, most theatre leases have a "stop loss" clause. Simply, if at a specified time (usually two consecutive weeks), the show fails to sell a certain number of tickets or make a certain amount of revenue, the theatre can invoke the clause and evict the show. However, once invoked, as I understand it, the actual eviction date can change, be extended or even forgiven. Simply, as soon as the theatre can find a new tenant that the theatre feels will make more money for the theatre, the old show is out and a new show is in.
So, for example, on Broadway, Beetlejuice got off to a slow start and the theatre invoked the Stop clause after the first few weeks. Then, word of mouth increased sales to where Beetlejuice was, purportedly, making a weekly profit. But, the theatre was on the look out for a better deal/more profitable tenant. And there was The Music Man with Hugh Jackman just waiting. Out goes Beetlejuice - in comes The Music Man.
If you're asking about why some shows don't get revived - well, that is a producer issue. If someone wants to remount a closed show (especially if it was a flop financially), they can seek the rights. If someone wants to remount I Want To Sing, or Viva Forever or The GoBetween or even Stephen Ward, they can raise the money and negotiate for the rights and try to find a theatre that will rent to them. Simply, money talks.

Online through 31 July. And supposedly touring presently. It sounds fascinating and I can discount the 3 star review from The Guardian. Not being in the UK, online would be my only option. Worthwhile?

Streamed this delightful bit of silliness. It is available though 27 June. The cast is top notch - all having a bit of fun. Robert Lindsay plays a version of himself while others take on the roles of actors taking on the roles of multiple characters - and there is bold "animation" - meaning the characters are not in the animation but the camera moves back and forth during dialog and there are some animated props. And yes, it is very silly (and a bit ribald at a few moments). If you don't like silly, stay away. Antony Eden reminded me very much of Oliver Chris in One Man, Two Guvnors - so much so that I had to check the cast list. It's a bright 70 minutes. I got a 12.50 ticket by buying early. Don't know if still available. Get Tickets Here

Here are the first 8 minutes - with an out of place small bit at the beginning of Nina saying listen to the block which is not part of the first 8 minutes.

Belgium had no money for costumes, choreography or fire. Was she going to kill herself at the end by jumping off that cliff?

I still like Cyprus. And it's nice to have some (sort of) hard rock from Finland and Italy. And I have a soft spot for the craziness of Lithuania. Would not be unhappy with a Malta win. I thought the French entry was better in its official video. I didn't realize Germany was in such financial straits that it decided to not field a legitimate entry. And, well, the UK entry doesn't suck. It won't win - but has a shot at the left side.

So, Young Vic will now be live streaming every show - and seemingly every performance - OR you can have stream a director edited version (later, presumably). Best Seat in Your House

{Spoiler - click to view} I presume John will now die in the first US invasion of Iraq (1991) rather than Vietnam. Also interesting that Jason Robert Brown has redone the orchestrations. Not clear who has re-written the lyrics/book to account for the "updating".

How did you see it? From the website, it looks like it was only three school performances and not available to general public?

I watched it on the last day it was available (for now). It was ... meh. Incomplete, inconsistent with lighting that may work (barely) on a laptop but I doubt in the theatre. Some good songs (Spellbound, Damn You) and the rest either meh (You Hardly Know Me, Mother Knows Best), forgettable or regrettable. Some songs have words that don't scan - or are crammed in - just not well crafted. David Thaxton and Dawn Hope were quite good. The rest of the cast .... were in different shows. Choreography was ... lacking. That may have been partially because of the Southwark stage area - but that's an easy excuse as the size of the stage would have been known and should have been accounted for. This wanted to be a "modern" fairytale for the family, but is a bit too dark and convoluted to succeed on that basis. This is all just my opinion, of course. Checking the internet, I'm in the minority: TheatreWeekly 5 stars The Stage 4 stars British Theatre - mixed MSN.com - negative BroadwayWorld - 4 stars London Theatre1 - 4 stars Pocket Size Theatre - 4 stars etc.
So, I expect that this will get another life on stage soon...
