But can UK finish on the left? Will the UK get Ireland’s 12 points? Can Malta really afford to host?

Looks like this year may have plenty for Graham Norton - if only we could get his live commentary in the States

So, has The Mousetrap been closed for sufficient time that the official film version can be made?

Boo. Not available from Amazon US. But 24 of 70 tracks are UK? that doesn't include "Sing Little Birdie"? Track list: www.nowmusic.com/albums/now-thats-what-i-call-eurovision/ And no "Party For Everybody" from Russia - major miss. And I don't see Celine Dion on the track list either - .

Wishing for Wishy Washy Pantomime From the moment this was selected as the genre, I knew this was going to be bonkers - but I wasn't quite prepared for what we witnessed. Lauren as Madame Frisky, Joshua as Trevor Noun/Lucinda's dad, Niall as Sister Martha/indecipherable being in the bad grammar forest were all hilarious. Harry as Buttons throwing Maths in Joshua's direction while thrusting, trying to cure Lucinda was another highlight. Henry Lewis rather stole the show as a horse/cow hybrid, the full stop goblin and the chief of the bad grammar forest - before break dancing in the final number! Bonkers is an understatement for we yankees across the pond watching the ... well, "Oscar" did try to explain the motifs and traditions, but my bride was perplexed. Nevertheless, we enjoyed it as just a bunch of silliness without rhyme or reason but did include breakdancing.

According to this report: www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/actor-sacked-homophobia-didnt-know-4952526, Omooba seems to be arguing - slightly bizarrely - that had she known the character was gay, she would not have accepted the role and had she appeared in the production, she would have refused to play the character as gay: which seems to completely justify the Curve's decision to dismiss her. Surely her only hope of winning is to argue that her personal beliefs here are irrelevant as long as she were able to put them to one side and not let them interfere with her ability to do the job she was hired to do? ... and it's a given that you would research the show you are auditioning for? That is TEXTBOOK. Her counsel suggests that she watched the film version as her homework. And since Spielberg didn't portray Celie as a lesbian, then that is that. And ignore what Alice Walker or Marsha Norman wrote. Except Ms. Omooba wasn't hired to do the Spielberg film....

It is a very funny play, with dark underpinnings. The stage show was filmed in the 80s with John Mahoney, Swoozie Kurtz, Christine Baranski, Julie Hagerty, and a young Ben Stiller. And yes “that site” has a full copy. I recall that the 80s version caused a change in Tony Award rules because it was eligible for best new play as it had never been in a Broadway house till then but had been around for fifteen years. I think that is when they made a rule about “classics”

We are able to watch on youtube in the states - but on a 12 minute delay - so there is one jerk who is intentionally spoiling the awards in chat (because the information is available on twitter)

I only saw the filmed stage production (spouse saw it live as well). So, this looks fun and a feel good film and some big numbers - "Stop waiting for permission to be you".

Did anyone else continue to have technical issues last night? The second act was much better but it still kept freezing. Regardless I stuck with it as I thought it was fabulous. . We had some occasional “buffering” pauses, rather than freezes. All were brief and minor. They were not at the level of annoyances, but more irritants. We presumed it was our internet, but, except one slight jump, I dont think we missed a second.

I thought it was a delight - slight, but a delight. Very old fashioned - but with a bit of new - although some of the new seemed awkward. I'm glad I watched it - but I didn't love it as so many others on this board did. It might play better in the theatre.
We very much enjoyed some of the stagecrafted, um, silliness like the neon lights and the car chase.
Did very much enjoy the bit at the beginning of Act Two. Was there always that song there or added for a streaming audience - and who dashed off the extra/added/amended lyrics regarding technical issues? Quite clever.
And the "dancing on air" bit at the end? How very ... very .... very extra. On the TV, it just seemed like "ok - why not" and maybe, even in the theatre, it was is "ok, why not" - but, a fun touch.
Gareth Snook took advantage of the camera - adlibbing movements and gestures just for us at home. There were a few other bits that seemed played just for the camera.
Enjoyed the enthusiastic applause from the crew for the broadcast!
And a major thank you to Wise Children for catching the technical issue, emailing about it, fixing it and starting from the top, although the email had a ten second warning!

I have a ticket for Saturday (sorry to miss Romantics Anonymous) - but the Wikipedia entry for Stuart Matthew Price suggests this is not a new musical, but one that has been around since 2014. Is this just an updated version - or completely new version? Wikipedia says there's even a cast recording.

I got a 20 pound ticket for the Sat matinee - which is breakfast time here in the States. I was #10,000 or something - which seemed fairly high if there were limited seats to 5 performances. I actually missed my first time to select date/time and had to get back in the queue and wait another hour.

The unanswered question - has this closure counted enough as a closure to allow the film to finally be made? Wikipedia claims a six month closure would suffice!

Well, I thought it was crackingly good - I had not watched The Crown and was not familiar with Ms. Foy. We had four people huddled around the laptop - and thoroughly enjoyed it and spoke about it for a good while afterwards. We know people very much like the couple. My eldest said that the play should have been titled "Good People" because that's what those two were most concerned about.
