i see Paul Kieve is listed who did awesome illusions for Matilda and even better for Ghost The Musical, nowhere I don't remember there any illusions in this? Seemingly appearing back in his bed despite still being on the opposite side of the stage. Couple of things like that. |

I loved it, and I may sneak in another last minute visit. Lots of chatter about how fun it was. And yes I stood at the end, it's all I could do to stop myself leaping onstage and snogging Andy Karl. Hey, Hey HEY lady. Back. Of. The. Queue. The image of Andy in a fur coat and his pants will live with me forever. |

Thanks to everyone for flagging that remaining tickets are being discounted a few hours before the show. Got a nice stall seat for £30 for today's matinee at about 12.30pm! Very excited!

Saw the show a second time pm today. Brilliant! I enjoyed it even more than last sats matinee which was a belter. Sound clarity improved. A tad slicker I feel.The audience lapped every moment up. Standing ovation. No curtain call music apart from the usual hoe down stuff. I do feel the curtain call needs to be padded out as it all finishes a bit fast. We have spent all this time going through this adventure with the cast, it would be nice to be able to show our apprecitation to the players etc. Too rushed.
The music was great, there are some great tunes there. The more you know them,the better they get. This really is a gem of a show. I hope to see it a final and third time...

According to Twitter (sorry, can't remember who said it, but pretty sure it was an ensemble member) that is the final curtain call in now.
I still think it needs something else.

That's what I thought, but the tweet made me think differently - proper bows, to background music, but no singing. Can't find it now though!

There was definitely background music to the curtain call on Friday night when we were there, but no singing.
Loved some of the songs (There Will Be Sun, One Day, Playing Nancy, If I Had My Time Again, Seeing You), unsure about some of the others, but as a whole I thoroughly enjoyed it. Like several others here, it seems, we picked up great centre stalls seats for £30 on the day. Not sure I'd have paid their original £90 price tag, but for that price it was well worth it.

Saw this for the third time tonight. Last week they definitely sang something at the curtain call, this week it was just music for "nobody cares" song playing over the bows.
Few little technical hitches this time, and slightly longer than planned interval whilst they swapped in someone to cover the police chief track, the actor usually playing him became indisposed during the interval.
Loved it again, that cast work so hard and Andy Karl is just getting better and better. Some lovely little nuances have come into his performance and once again I'm blown away by his energy!

Firmly in the "loved it" camp.
For me the songs (or the tunes at least) weren't especially memorable, but the lyrics are frequently funny and witty. It's not that the tunes themselves are boring or annoying, just not particularly earwormy! I'd definitley say I liked the songs, I just couldn't sing you one a day later. Having said that, I would definitely like to hear them again, particularly to hear more of the lines I missed on a first listen.
The show is frequently very funny, and manages to have a lot of fun with itself without undermining the sweet and emotional climax. Of course the original concept is fantastic and I was ultimately pleased that I haven't seen the film since the 90s as a lot of the ideas hit me afresh where a better knowledge of the film might lessen the surprise and impact. And the staging is inventive and clever - very much a theatrical staging rather than an attempt to recreate a film.
The whole cast work their socks off with plenty of them creating memorable townsfolk characters without much in the way of lines or song, but it really is ultimately Andy Karl's show. Perfect casting in terms of look, voice and comic timing, the audience lap up his charismatic d*ckishness and yet he doesn't turn into a boring sap when he starts to learn the error of his ways.
I really hope this gets the audience (and transfer) it deserves.

The songs just felt so much more as id heard then before...Its a wonderful production... |

I am also one of the lovers of this. Especially since it has set a bit after the few weeks I saw it and watched the film again. Would love to see it again. Unfortunately no trip to London till October for me.

"Reviews a preview" always puts me on edge. I know we do it all the time but we're not publishing it like we're professional critics passing judgment for mass audiences.
