I doubt they'll be asking Summer Strallen, given her recent tweet. What’s the little madam said now?

She’s blown the whistle on the treatment of the original GHD cast during their first run, which was, tbh, pretty appalling by all accounts. I think the second cast had an easier ride, thank goodness. Not that that makes it better.

I think the second cast had an easier ride, thank goodness. Not that that makes it better. Not suprising as the infamous and now disgraced Broadway producer Scott Rudin was involved in that first production. He is blamed for the show being rushed to Broadway (where it bombed) while many of the creatives didn't feel it was ready and wanted to do further work on it first. If memory serves, Tim Minchin mentioned this is an interview. In any event, her post is flogging a dead horse as Rudin has been long detached from the production. After demanding a Broadway transfer, he abandoned it just before GHD started Broadway previews after a huge fallout with Matthew Warchus (the director) on the changes they would/would not make to the show. Rudin eventually pulled back from producing altogether following several widely printed stories from former staffers calling him out for his allegedly abusive behaviour.

Any chance of this returning anytime soon with the Old Vic releasing a short "deja vu" video clip yesterday?

Any chance of this returning anytime soon with the Old Vic releasing a short "deja vu" video clip yesterday? I think they only posted it as it was a year since the last OV run closed. But had listened recently to Tim Minchin on the “Game of Life” podcast from when the Melbourne run had just closed, and it sounds like they’re still trying to get it back to London but it’s theatre availability and other reasons, even saying that they were offered a theatre but was too big.

The chance of this getting an appropriately sized theatre anytime soon are completely remote. I wouldn’t expect this back in London sadly.

Huge fan of Groundhog Day and think Andy Karl IS Phil Connors. However.... In the event Groundhog Day makes a return, perhaps with a different lead, who could you see playing Phil? After seeing "A Face In The Crowd", I think Ramin Karimloo would make an excellent Phil. Who would you cast if Andy Karl was unavailable?

I have seen the show three times- twice at The Old Vic and once in Melbourne, Australia an on each occasion saw a different actress playing the role of Rita.

Every time this thread pops back up I get excited that there's been an announcement of a return! Sad times.
Ramin is a good shout. What about Oli Tompsett? It's a hard one to dream cast as Andy Karl is so perfect in that role.

Ramin isn't particularly good at humour, Hadley could work.
Jon Robyns or Killian Donnely maybe.

For anyone needing their fix of this show while we wait for announcement of a London return (any day now, right guys?) there’s a new production of it being staged in Barcelona ‘El Dia de la Marmota’. It’ll be performed in Catalan but I know every word in the show so I’m going to try and catch it anyway and hopefully follow along! Details here: www.balanaenviu.com/es/espectaculo/el-dia-de-la-marmota

Ah jeez, the speed my finger hit the link ....
I've given this some thought. You know, in those dark times when longing for a favourite show return date ...
Alex Gaumond.
Loved him in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at the Open Air (9 years ago? Seriously??) He had a small part (Alberto Belldini) in Top Hat which was pure comedy.
