Just re-booked £82.50 seats using my £165.00 credit voucher and was made to pay an additional £3.80 "transaction fee" despite being a Theatrecard member. If you send a dm to them with details they will refund you..

I'm trying to book a ticket for the run in the Salisbury Playhouse. Does anyone have any experience with this theatre and know where the best place to sit? Front row is the cheapest price bracket, does that mean it's obstructed? My local theatre..I booked the 21.00 seats further back..but its not a terrible view from the front row. Its just priced accordingly. Depends on the stage layout etc..Could miss a bit...But not a neck breaker...

Saw this tonight and thought it was in great shape. Solid performances and decent narrative made it more excessable than I thought it would. Simple use of revolve. Won't be winning any awards for stage production.

Do we have any source for a running time? I have now got out of my early start tomorrow but still need to plan actually getting home! I am in the middle of the row in the grand circle so a speedy exit is unlikely! Yes... would be handy to know..on last trian back to Salisbury..I'm f7!

The Exchange’s Halloween offering. I was reading the reviews of this when it was in the West End in 2014 and a lot of the positive comments were around the staging, as much as the play. I haven’t seen the film but reading about it it all sounds relentlessly sad so I’m not sure I’d be up for this. Anyone got any thoughts? I have watched the usa remake and it is now a firm favourite. Unlike any vampire film I've seen..Yes...its sad but beautiful at the same time..

Anyone else seen this? We have tickets for Saturday and are considering whether the journey to Chichester is worth it for a not very well reviewed play - thanks I saw it on Saturday..enjoyed it. Well acted atmospheric horror story. Great staging..No ..its not perfect..Narrative gets a bit bogged down.. But plenty to enjoy here. Dont let me sway you but it isn't a lost cause..

Leicester, Dartford, Cardiff, Aberdeen & Cambridge runs also cancelled. Tickets currently only on sale for ATG venues. Looks as if the tour has been cancelled. Mayflower this week is still happening atm.

Saw this tonight and it is a very solid play. Nicola Walker is great as Miss Moffatt but what I liked about the play is and I'll put it in spoilers to be safe The play has been reframed as a memory play with Gareth David Lloyd as Emlyn Williams constructing the play as it unfolds, it starts off with a bare set in Act 1 but by Act 2 it is a fully realised set. There is a moment in Act 2 where Emlyn stops the narrative in order to make changes which sounds weird but actually worked quite well. It's also made quite clear to the audience that the character of Morgan Evans is essentially a stand in for Emlyn himself. We had a 15 minute stop towards the end of the play due to an audience member falling ill but it ended at 2222 so not too bad a delay and the cast were able to pick up where they left off with ease. Bizarre as something similar happened at the matinee...

What accent does Jodie use for the role? Numerous accents depending on whom she is at the time..This very much a talking heads kind of production. You do get plenty of her scouse accent (watered down I would say)

Was at the Pinter this evening and I have to say this was excellent in every regard. Boy can this lady act..The brilliant book and staging really helps Jodie to showcase all her talents..Every emotion is on display. I couldn't take my eyes off her. Absolutely command's the stage. So confident. I didn't see any weakness in the production and didn't want it to end..Music is added throughout with heavy base at times that could annoy some. Audience on the whole were well behaved. I noticed what I believe to be some kind of security guy amongst the ushers keeping an eye for potential problems..I really hope it doesn't get spoiled by a minority of fans as it deserves the upmost of respect. Awards galore i would imagine and wouldn't surprise me a run on Broadway if scheduals work.. Bravo..if I could give it 6 out of 5 I would...

My seat in row G is almost directly behind yours in F and I agree that for the £125 price point that's very good. Most seats that are £65 for Les Miserables were priced at £250 or £175 for this concert so by that measure better value than most. I didn't pay 125.00

First preview on Thursday. Anyone seeing this in the first weeks? My ticket (having been moved many times due to covid is now later in the run) Rafe Spall has promised a performance entirely different from Jeff Daniels and Ed Harris. 19th March for me..

Absolutely loved this today..97 minutes (no interval) of sheer traditional comedic delight.. Griff and Janie clearly having a ball..both in fine form... Really nice set too. Wouldnt be surprised if this transfered into the west end..somewhere like the Wyndham's maybe..
10/10

Please try and remember that Adam Kenwright is now a TB member. If we're all a bit more positive, maybe he'll give us an exclusive? Personally..I cant wait to see it.

I feel obliged to raise an important caveat - despite the billing, this is not really Ionesco's play "The Chairs". Ionescu's play is contained within a performance which has been book-ended with a beginning and a very long ending which were not written by Ionescu but by the translator and director Omar Elerian. These are not minor tinkerings but add significant text (which partly explains the bloated length of nearly 2 hours to a play which should run for around 1.5 hours) and change the tone, meaning and texture of Ionesco's play. It is, effectively, a different play to the play Ionesco write. It is disappointing for this not to be highlighted in the credits as someone without a knowledge of Ionesco's play might actually believe he had just seen the original. Which is a shame because - quirky opening, unnecessary "updatings" (ie incisions) and clunky ending aside, this actually has two fantastic performances by Kathryn Hunter and Marcello Magni in a play which had lost none of its relevance and theatrical power. The quintessence of absurdist theatre, spoilers don't really apply in "The Chairs" but just in case there's some spoilers here. The old couple here have all the music-hall patter and banter of Beckett's tramps bur far more self-consciously so - in this production the fourth wall is absent, which adds more business with audience participation but gets some extra laughs. Whilst Ionesco's original makes an important existential point through its abrupt ending, bereft of hope, the new ending tacked onto this simply deconstructs the original ending with a long-winded, funny in parts but ultimately pointless speech which despite the grafted political statements actually only succeeds in reducing the meaning to a theatrical performance. Superb performance from the two leads, a true mano-a-mano which justifies the ticket price several times over. Their visual relationship, a geriatric version of Chaplinesque clown/tramp with a living marionette, is developed with perfect timing and empathy as they alternate the comic roles of set-up and gagster with a perfect mixture of slapstick and wordplay, not excluding many bits of business with imaginary and real objects and other theatrical tricks which never feel stale. Great read..I was at the matinee yesterday and pulled up on stage as one of the chair movers and additional guest welcoming team...
