Sometimes an extension is a last-ditch attempt though - hoping that enough people will want to book all the way into next summer to boost the coffers of the more immediate future. The length of this extension combined with a cursory read of the last few posts, I wouldn't assume that it's necessarily a good sign at all. I do agree with you, Baemax. I think to extend by a whole year is a very bold move which is either a sign of arrogance (thinking they'll sell easily) or they actually have got the advance to extend that far ahead. The WoS article says "Beautiful runs at the Aldwych until 22nd July 2017" so maybe it closes then? Might just be me being sceptical. An extension doesn't necessarily mean it will last until then though It's a three month extension, I think they were previously booking to February.

I've heard a verbal rumour, from a good source but could still be a case of Chinese whispers and this being utter rubbish, that Willemijn is returning to Wicked. London was not specified, but I presumed that was the place being referred to, but still I don't know how far to believe this rumour.

Definitely agree, it really is glorious. I think that's the aspect I love about a good play, when the actors know how to project well. If my memory serves me correctly City of Angels wasn't amplified with mics, and the volume was perfect in the Donmar setting.

Being Harry Potter and the original cast, I can't help but feel this could have some worth in the future. But I must say I wasn't expecting £12.

I don't know if which thread this post belongs in, but how does the souvenir brochure work. Cost and content? I hear it's only on sale at the end of part 2.

I saw the show from up in the balcony, where the effects were pretty impressive. After getting lucky with a central aisle stalls row F I'm not intrigued to see how different the effects appear, and if any of the magic of them is lost, as well as experience the dramatic content of the play from a closer distance.

Why did they extend it if it wasn't doing well with Sam Spiro? Maybe they thought they could get a bigger name or maybe it was something to fill until The Girls goes there They probably thought they would be able to get a sequence of bigger names, and didn't anticipate that this, as a possible theory, may not be the case.

Looks like a great design, especially they way it naturally seems to flow from the auditorium to the stage. I'll probably be booking again, can't make 1st Sept but only paid £2.50 so a tiny loss, as this does look like it has the potential to be a very impressive play.

I think they did want to run it to January, and that's why it extended from October. I presume though that they didn't want to run it though without a name as they would be running a major financial risk.

I wonder if Matt is a bit peeved not to be going over there too? Unless he does next year. The show plays to an average 60 (something) % per week, I believe, and would the show sell well enough with two British names in it? I don't know if it would, especially as they have been trying names on Broadway for Kinky Boots more recently. I'm not an expert on equity, but could there have been an issue with having both leads on Broadway played by British actors. Although, it is equally possibly that Matt was given the chance to go but decided to stay in London.

Those were limited runs though, and both are expected to transfer either to Broadway, West End or both. This was designed to be a long runner that didn't make it unfortunately past four/five months. It would of lost investors a lot of money. I wish it would get nominated and it will no doubt get a couple here or there. But I think, particularly the supporting cast, could get overshadowed by this. Also, it is a pretty packed list of nominees already, they could definitely be overshadowed by other performers. Show Boat was meant to be a limited run, wasn't it? It was due to close in January but moved closing to August after a couple of weeks

I presume the reason why a female ensemble is the emergency cover Gavroche, Clare Parrish was in the past, is because the female ensemble have a shorter average height and have a higher vocal range than the male ensemble.

Maybe the finances don't allow for another star name casting, and hence closing? Yes, that's a possibility, but would suggest that Rebel's casting didn't trigger much of an uplift in ticket sales after all, or at least not enough to make seeing it through to January worthwhile. Possibly paying the 'star name' would be too much, when combined with all additional running costs, and that could be due to a lot of lost money from pretty empty houses from when Sam Sprio was starring.

I'm really disappointed to think that this show is closing today, and I wish I could be there for the last performance. Given the loss of Guys and Dolls, and soon Showboat and Funny Girl, I very much Half a Sixpence transfers only to fill the void of 'classic style musical' before the arrivals of An American in Paris and 42nd Street. From what I understand the show is closing as they couldn't get a replacement for Miss Adelaide, which I take as code for 'we could get an MT name, but need a big name to fill the theatre and nobody wanted to do it'.

Annoyed with myself that I won't be seeing this as it looks really interesting. One of those productions I thought I'd see later, and well that never happened. Looking at the DTM booking page is it only the dress circle and stalls that are open as it doesn't look that popular.

For a weekday performance (Mon-Wed), what time is best to arrive, and is there a significant difference in queue lengths between Sheridan and Natasha. Also, are the seats in a set location?

I would go and see this in Chichester, but for a round trip journey longer than the performance,a total 7 hours on the train, really puts me off.

Even though I'm normally open to at least looking at any play that opens in London, this revival just seems so uninspiring, in my opinion, that I've never had any intention to even look at the premise of the play, let alone go and see it. Not being familiar with the history of 'Hobson's Choice' probably doesn't go in my favour, but the poster work, production photos and marketing all seem a bit bland. I haven't seen many offers around this show, so maybe there are audiences in the Vaudeville, but only if they produced a more endearing production would I want to see a version of the play.

But Mark Shenton's tweets don't have the same status as Baz's actually. And most people who've seen it report it's offensively outdated actually. This is why people think it is going nowhere in September hence why we are surprised some people say they liked it... Baz did tweet someone and say Sixpence is coming to London, but didn't mention a theatre.

Can't I invest in an invisibility cloak and jump the Friday Forty queue to get tickets, and that way nobody will know.

Makes the show look really good fun. Personally I don't see how anybody could argue the show doesn't have the potential to be uplifting, and if that's what they want to sell the show as if it comes to London, I think they are on the right lines.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8BsysChKjsc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I couldn't agree more. I feel this is the definitive comment on Half a Sixpence. Everyone can shut up now. It was supposed to be the link to the EPK - I guess it didn't work...

I really hope Half a Sixpence also transfers, and I really hope that it hasn't fallen through. I only worry as this could explain why the Noel Coward looks like it could be going dark until something else is announced - with the closing of Impossible being close to Sixpence closing at CFT, a direct transfer would have been ideal? (But maybe set design changes for the proscenium arch could explain this). But also, with the EPK released today (that states CFT end date), surely wouldn't it have been a good marketing tool to release the EPK at the time of transfer (mentioning the WE theatre) as it would be a new way of generating interest. Personally, I hope these two theories aren't true.

Now we have a separate thread for wishes, this thread can be for the transfers that have been rumoured. I made a list of the ones that have been rumoured by press, cast, people etc. PLEASE NOTE: The theatres in brackets after some of the shows are theatres i think the show would be most suited to/could transfer to. Honestly personally and nothing confirmed •Mary Poppins (Drury Lane) •Waitress (Harold Pinter) •Hedwig •Wind in the Willows •Big •Half a Sixpence (Noel Coward) •Who's afraid of Virginia Wolf? (Duke of Yorks) •The King and I •Jesus Christ Supestar •Finding Neverland (Aldwych) •Grey Gardens (Duke of Yorks) If all these shows did come to London next year, the big question is.... Where are they going to go?! I'm sure Baz tweeted someone a while back saying that ATG changes meant The King and I is off. Unless something has changed since...

Imelda really has remarkable commitment to her stage work. Correct me if I'm wrong, but she didn't take any holiday and only missed two or three performances of Gypsy due to illness.
