Whilst I think Alfie has a cracking pair or pipes on him he wouldn't for me have persuaded me to head to London to watch him in this. I saw a segment of him performing from the today show and it didn't wow me. Maybe as was so different to OBC recording. I do hope they still bring it over but not holding my breath on this one.

I'm really looking forward to this and hope they carry on tradition of live musical every year. Im not 100% sure on all of the casting but will keep an open mind. Im also gutted it's clashing with Ball and Boe nothing good on telly for ages then 2 things at same time. Thank goodness for catch up!!

As it's coming up to musicals week it got me thinking when I'm a mega celeb (so like never!) and I get to go in strictly I'd love to do dances to show tunes every week. When listening to musical albums I do sometimes imagine what dance it would suit best. I have a list for a few dances and songs but not all.

I think I'd definitely go with 'you'll be with me like a handprint on my heart' it formed part of my eulogy letter to my mum last year. It made me smile though when sorting through her things recently to find an actual salvation army heart with a tiny handprint on. It's now one of my most treasured possessions.

Wow you lot are super organised, I used to try and remember them in my mind but as I'm very forgetful I resorted to a pinterest board to show what I've seen. I think generally will have spent most time in Crucible and lyceum in Sheffield. Think it's too late to organise myself with a spreadsheet!!!

I normally love Halloween Strictly but just seemed a bit blah this year. Not sure if it's because none of the celebs are appealing much to me. I think Claudia was my fave after yesterday was a lot better than last week's and Laura certainly improving but I'm not rooting for anyone. It's annoying me about judges crazy scoring as well I've taken to solely watching the clips on YouTube!!

I saw this last night and whilst I enjoyed it I didn't love it. Performances from Coalhouse and Mother were stunning and the staging was good, although sometimes as said previously a little busy on stage,it just didn't blow me away like Titanic did. I just can't put my finger on what was missing, maybe it was just me being slow but it just seemed very bitty with the storyline and as didn't flow easy in my mind maybe I missed something!! All in all though an enjoyable evening watching people give there all to a production.

A year or so back we went to Buxton Opera House to see Miss Nightingale it was 2nd to last ever performance and there was only about 20-30 people in the stalls. It made me feel really uncomfortable and I almost felt I had to over egg my laughing and clapping. I deserved an olivier award for my performance as enjoying patron!! I'm sure it must make it harder for performers playing to an almost empty house. I hope the last show ever was full of family and friends so it got a good send off. Oh, I saw Miss Nightingale! I saw it at the Leicester Square Theatre and I thought it was great, sad to hear it had such a small audience in Buxton. Luckily there were a few more people when I saw it in London. I'm thought it was good as well and definitely not the worst thing I've ever seen, luckily they didn't let it dampen their spirits and still put on a great show.

Ended up getting a 3 day London trip next week so have just booked tickets for this, really hoping I enjoy as much as I did Titanic. Only £32.50 so not a complete loss if I don't get blown away! Now to plan a few other bits whilst other half has to work!

I should probably start watching this properly so can see the scores and judging but recently have been watching the you tube clips to get out of cringe watching Tess or spending my time fast forwarding/rewinding to see the bits I want!! It does seem like an exceptionally talented bunch this year. I can't wait to see how this years clebs get on!!

Les Mis -Stars Hamilton -Quiet Uptown Titanic - Lady's Maid and finale Into the Woods - No-one is alone Miss Saigon - I still believe and I'd give my life for you Chitty -Hushabye Mountain Mary Poppins - Feed the birds
There are probably so many more that make me weep when I've watched the shows but there the ones that spring to mind. The ones from Hamilton and Into the Woods can make me cry at any point though rather than getting swept away in the theatre moment.

Wow that's a toughie. I think my top 5 l, without sitting for hours to pick would be. 1. Burn - Hamilton 2. The movie in my mind - Miss Saigon 3. Do you hear the people sing - Les Mis 4. For good - Wicked 5. A musical - Something Rotten.
Maybe, unless I want Lady's Maid from Titanic in. Maybe I need top 50 that's more doable haha.

Had an email from Bradford theatre saying touring in June 2017 and tickets on sale. Might be one to add to the list as coming local (ish!).

I honestly never knew this was an option until I had to return tkts to the bodyguard in Sheffield last year as I literally couldn't even give them away. My friend dropped them in that morning and I got fully refunded so presume they sold them. I imagine it would be a logistical nightmare sometimes as like posted about not many people would want to pay full price for tkts just before a show so the box office unlikely to take a hit.

I despair at some people sometimes. This breastfeeding malarkey has gone insane, yes feed your kid but 1 woman complained about been told to get out a pool whilst the wave machine was on (serious health and safety issue) and then this woman threatening to sue because she was booted out a theatre. It's almost like they want to cause sensational headlines by doing these crazy things. Who takes a 10 month old to the theatre and expects to feed and carry on as if she was in her front room...there's a time and place for everything and in the middle of a show is probably not a place I'd think of feeding my kid. Right might come down off my high horse - sorry rant over!!

I think my current top 5 are Titanic/Hamilton/Les Mis/ Miss Saigon and Memphis. Pretty tough to pick 5 and no doubt the list would be different if I did it next week!!

I can't see them bringing back Marti Pellow to be honest, he looks too old for the part. Debating whether to pay and see this, I like the songs "Buenos Aires" & "Don't Cry..." and I like the storyline but I'm not sure if I would get bored. I'm sure they might consider him again. They roll him out for everything. I cannot get on with him whatsoever and as I never really look at cast listing before I go he has spoiled no end of things namely blood bros and war of the world's. Oops will get of my Marti rant pedestal haha.

I'm looking for new cast recordings to listen to - can anyone make any recommendations? Again not new ones but my current one repeat albums are Titanic/Hamilton and Bright star (well to be honest only one song from bright star!)

I've been looking at the Proms schedule to see if they were doing a musicals themed one but can't find one this year. The Shakespeare prom has the second half devoted to musicals based on Shakespeare - West Side Story, Kiss me Kate and The Boys from Syracuse. I am taking my nephew. There is also a Gershwin prom
Marvellous thanks for the info will keep my eyes peeled for that, I need to look when on computer as phone screen hardly shows me anything!

On BBC4 now a Proms special of Strictly which might be worth a look if you like dancing and live bands. I've been looking at the Proms schedule to see if they were doing a musicals themed one but can't find one this year.

After seeing it I couldn't stop humming a few bars and singing the few lines I could remember. Have had to order original cast recording to learn all the words, it was an unbelievable show and wish I could go back.

Went to see Aladdin on Monday evening. I'd been reading a few posts on the board and was thinking I'll reserve my judgement we can't all like the same maybe I will enjoy it but I felt a little bit disappointed after seeing this. It's Disney, it's the West End I was expecting to be blown away but it just felt like it fell a little bit short. Yes it has some great points like the flying carpet and the cave of wonders but that just didn't carry through the rest of the show. I really didn't want to say but as other posters have mentioned it did feel a little bit Panto and not in a good way. The costumes were wonderful, some of the scenery good, the leads were passable but not the strongest I've ever seen and the flow of the show felt a bit stilted and the second half seemed to drag. It made me I wish I'd not spent 6 weeks in my summer holidays aged 13 watching Aladdin over and over as may have enjoyed this show more, I think I went with high expectations that just could not be reached!! My husband said his fave bit was the curtain changed colour, which says a lot haha. I think the show will do ok but doubt it'll be a long running show (will probably be eating my words on their 10th anniversary).

Went to see this last night and was blown away. OK the theatre wasn't the grandest but once you hear the orchestra and the extremely talented performers you don't notice the surroundings! All of the cast were outstanding and wouldn't be able to single out someone as a favourite. They made great use of the stage and as a small cast were taking on multiple roles which I imagine puts extra pressure on but you wouldn't notice that. The vocal range of some of the talented cast were amazing and they could do with teaching the Aladdin folk a thing or two about projecting and pitch!! For the price of a ticket I would whole heartedly recommend going to see this and if I lived near London I would return to see this. Which says a lot as I'm not really one for returning to shows!!

I would like to see this in London as have wanted to watch for a while. If Boe does come over and open I might wait for a cast change. Alfie does have a fabulous voice but after watching clips of him performing Neverland on US breakfast shows I'm not sure he'd be my first pick for the lead I'd want to see, as someone said his operatic voice isn't what you imagine especially when you listed to MM in the OCR recording.
Obviously it's horses for courses so for some they would love to see him in the role.

A lovely evening at Sheffield theatre watching Chitty. I was actually impressed with the staging of the show and although you can see the car crane it didn't take much away from the performance. Never seen Lee Mead or Carrie before but would say they were both good in the roles and gave fantastic vocals and performance. Again would say Michelle Collins probably wouldn't get credit for an amazing performance but was passable. Good humour bought to the show by Goran and Boris. My fave numbers were probably ol bamboo and toot sweets and ensemble were on point in these (how I wish I could dance!) Was a good one to tick off my to watch list but probably wouldn't race back to see it. Few audience mishaps with naughty people on phones etc but staff soon seem to sort it out and the kids sat near us were better behaved than their parents!!
Off to watch endless rounds of YouTube clips of Dick Van Dyke in film haha.
