Been queuing since 5.00am in the bitter cold to get tickets lor Sunday For Sammy. Its a biannual charity show in memory of Sammy Johnson who played Stick in Jimmy Nail's Spender. Money raised helps kids afford the performing arts. Usually stars the Auf Wiedersehn Pet cast plus surprise guests.
I have never been as cold in my life. Just beginning to thaw out.

I saw Martin in Children Of Eden. Loved it. I'm sure somewhere in my collection I have a recording of Martin singing New York, New York from a Friday Night is Music Night.

I'm an ATG member and they wouldn't let me exchange to a different day. Couldnt get rid of them so the seats went unused. The theatre let me exchange my tickets at the box office. It was for Virginia Woolf so it's strange they wouldn't let you change. I tried but no go. Not very happy.

Absolutely! They keep you on hold for ages and haven't replied to my emails. Despite having ATG membership and cheap Row C seats for 'Woolf' having sold out for the run, they wouldn't refund my two tickets. Hence - please see my other thread if you are interested in my tickets for May! Thanks. The performance isn't sold out, which will be why they won't refund - fairly standard theatre practice. If you're a member though you'll be able to exchange to a different day! I'm an ATG member and they wouldn't let me exchange to a different day. Couldnt get rid of them so the seats went unused.

UK tour Elphaba for the venues where Rachel Tucker does not appear please? What on earth gave you the idea that Rachel Tucker would be playing Elphaba in the Wicked Tour??? Oh please no.

Best TV I've seen in a long while. Full marks to the actress playing Karen Matthews.
I'm not a huge Sheridan Smith fan but I thought she was brilliant in this.

Ive had family members think im mad for seeing the same show twice Imagine the reaction when you tell them you're going twice. On the same day 😂 I used to travel to London and all over the country to see shows, often the same one twice, usually on my own. The people I worked with thought I was mad. I used to say I'd rather do that and have memories than go out and get drunk and be ill. I will be doing the same for the Wicked tour on my own.

I saw this with Anthony Newley at Birmingham many years ago. Loved the show, hated Newley. He sounded very drunk to me and I couldn't understand a word he said.

Its impossible not to sound old thinking this out loud…but for around 15 years after C4 arrived, Christmas was a golden time on TV for ‘people like us’. Jeremy Issacs and the BBC seemed to compete to surprise and delight us. Every year - a couple of Fred and Ginger movies and maybe a series of Minelli or Busby Berkely films. - Documentaries on theatre and musicals were plentiful. E.G. I recall one by Claud Chabrol on Gershwin - TV films of US shows. EG Bernadette Peters in Into the Woods, the great Joe Papp, Pirates of Penzance with Kevin Kline and Linda Ronstadt. - There would always be at least one Opera and One Ballet. I still have the VHS evidence! These day’s niche audiences (like us) are deemed to be catered for by DVD, but it really did expand your horizon when something unfamiliar but ‘interesting’ was broadcast. …excuse me while I go back to my recliner, it’s time for my nap. I agree with you 100%

I know it has a lot of kids involved but I'd love to see a proper production on The Music Man. Two very dated productions I'd love to see The Desert Song and Summer Song (music of Dvorak's New World Symphony.) I did Summer song as an amateur and fell in love with the show.

And proper revivals, not ones where the cast play the music. Proper ones with a proper orchestra.

If I were running a theatre, I'd only let latecomers in during the interval. I remember seeing the tour of "Copacabana" when it was touring and got there after the show had started. The usherette said I could sit at the back if I wanted but I would be better off in the bar as the show was dreadful. The bar it was and after sitting through Act 2 she was right.

I love the TER "First Complete Recording" with Christopher Lee and Valerie Masterson. CDTER2 1214. Do NOT buy "The Musicals Collection" two Original Broadway Cast Recordings set LC3843. The re-mastering makes it sound tinny. I've got the full Musicals collection. Some are good some are rubbish.

Many years ago I saw a stage production of "Hitchhikers Guide T The Galaxy" at Newcastle. 36 of us in the stalls and I still managed to sit in someone else's seat. The show was cracking BTW.
