I totally forgot about this, Z-arts is a stones throw away from me. Not free for any of the performances that are left now though, drat.

I want a couch and everything A wipe-clean one, presumably... This reminds me of going to the King's Head last year and watching Five Guys Chillin, directly after watching The Book Club with Amanda Muggleton in the same place, and wondering if Amanda had any idea what those five guys were up to on her couch 😂

It's impossible for us to judge 'fair' in a market situation without understanding the details of the market, which we can't without knowing what everyone else is getting paid. If we're not judging 'fair' based on market conditions, then all we're doing is railing that life, in general, in unfair. Which, of course, it is! But that's not the BBC's fault.... Blaming the BBC or individual members of their staff for the unfairness of life in general and the TV labour market in particular not not seem fair to me. I really don't think your getting my point at all, but hey ho.

Thanks for that Kathryn. I may be a little naive but I'm not completely without basic knowledge of how things work. Of course I know the marketing costs of products are put into the price of them, and of course I sometimes buy products that spend money on marketing, as you rightly point it would be next to Impossible not to. However I do try my hardest and generally avoid huge / luxury brands. I still don't think this is the same as a legally enforced licence fee.
That said, I don't have an issue with the BBC being licence fee funded, and haven't once suggested they shouldn't be. It is the size of some of those salaries they pay that I find uncomfortable. I Understand that this is the world we live in and begrudgingly accept that in society currently 'the market rules all'. However, I do think that we are all entitled to rail against things that we don't agree with.
Not the politics of envy, rather the politics of fairness.

Really you don't use Microsoft, Samsung, Apple, a high street bank any phone network, any supermarket, fast food restaurant, any branded food or drink or any other retailer? That's quite an achievement. Oh you such a wag aren't you? I'm pretty utilitarian when it comes to my shopping habits, and buy for my needs and my own desires, not to attain some "Lifestyle" that is rammed down my throat by advertising agencies.

For those trying to claim that the BBC should be unique in doing this because 'public money', where do you think ITV, Sky etc get their funds from? Subscriptions from....the public. Advertisers who make their money from......the public. Etc. Every single product and service is, in the end, paid for by public money, or maybe the complainers actually do think there is a magic money tree. It is unique because it is funded by a non-optional license fee and if I don't pay it I am subject to a criminal prosecution (10% of all prosecutions in the country) and could go to jail (hundreds have). Given that I'm very interested to know how they spend that money. For a similar reason I'm interested in knowing what specific named NHS chief executives get paid relative to nurses - would anyone here arguing for BBC secrecy on pay be happy for it also to apply to the NHS ? Exactly! It's not comparing like for like at all. I can choose, and generally do, not to buy any of the crap that is advertised between programmes on commercial channels. I do pay for Sky, but I'm not going to complain about the salaries they pay because I Choose to pay for that service and won't go to prison if I don't. I accept that we live in a rampant unregulated capitalist society, even though I hate the fact, however I don't feel I should have to accept that it's ok for public funded organisations to operate by the same principles. I'd be more than happy for professional unknowns to host programmes on the BBC. For the record I don't have any problem with those people as individuals, it's the system I'm unhappy with.

Parsley, you are truly oblivious to how life is for most people aren't you? Are you a Tory cabinet minister by any chance?
Quite frankly I find these salaries obscene, given that the BBC is a public body and how hard life is for so many people, people who are legally obliged to pay a licence fee. Nobody needs to earn those amounts of money at all.

A friend told me last night that the stage door has been an interesting mix of fans of The Wanted and the Osmonds, which to be honest is something I'm almost curious to see! I was thinking of stagedooring to get a picture with Danielle but I don't think I'll bother if it's gonna be overun by two cliques of fangirls I can't imagine The Osmonds have Fangirls anymore. Fangrans?

If I buy three £10 Young Vic tickets at a £3 mark-up for each one, a total of £9 that doesn't even go to the theatre itself, then I'm shelling out 90% of the cost of another ticket and handing it to TodayTix, who don't contribute anything to the production costs. My conscience is clear. I've been having similar internal debates myself. I want to buy two tickets for Fun Home and both parts of The Inheritance, which would be an extra £18. This is further complicated by the fact that the cheapest tickets TodayTix have for Fun Home when I want to go are £23. Which means spending a total of £38 more, almost the cost of a Young Vic membership! But what if I can't get tickets on Friday? :/ The traumatic life of a near penniless theatre addict! Back to the original subject matter, I've occasional thought about investing, a small amount obviously. It would be driven by interest in the subject of the show primarily.

Can you select your own seats for this online? Or is it just type in a number and see what you're offered? You can on Amazon tickets, and a few performances have got tickets for about £36 in upper circle. Glad i bought £20 tickets for this when it first went on sale, though I wish I was closer for the shower scene

More 'passing off'.... back in the days of my youth, Superdrug used to do knock-off men's fragrances with names and packaging very close but not quite the same as the expensive original. Like 'Artemis' (Aramis), 'Solo' (Polo) 'Razz' (Jazz). Oh I used to love nipping into Superdrug at lunchtime and having a squirt of cheap, fake scent, come out smelling like a tarts handbag and have people recoiling and wagging their hands under their noses at the coffee machine in the afternoon. Then when some old bird asked "what on Earth have you put on" I'd squeak "Jazz", lying through my teeth and blushing ha ha If you was just getting a sample squirt why didn't you go for the real ones? Most of my early trips to Canal St were via a quick trip to Kendals to douse myself in the latest designer scent.

That photo looks like the top half of Louise has been photoshopped onto someone else's bottom half (from the waist down). It wouldn't be out of the question, Kenwright seems to be a fan of bad Photoshopping. I've had a lot of laughs from some of the posters they've cobbled together.

Live and Let Theatre needs to be on a t-Shirt immediately I can be pretty snobbish about such shows, particularly when, with increasing frequency, they get booked in at the Venue I work at. "A Whitney Houston tribute act? Are you sure? You do know the Actual Liza Minnelli has been on that stage don't you?" That said, there is a market for them, and like any other type of show they vary tremendously in quality. We've had the Bootleg Beatles and Brit Floyd shows a few times each in the past and although I wouldn't buy a ticket, the quality can't be denied.

Saw her at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on Sunday and have to agree with Steve's review. Truly felt like i'd 'visited' with her, rather than just sat and been performed at for two hours. There was a similar scenario with Let it Go too. One of the girls, who had been forced up by her mother it seemed, was very nervous. Idina was very patient and encouraging with her.

Actors are wearing their own clothes, there is however a tap routine. it's 15 minutes long and choreographed to a chorus of miserable people tutting.

Everybody's talking about Parsley. Now there's a cheery production....but at least we'd all only have to stay until the interval. unfortunately it's 3 and a half hours no interval. they lock the doors too. Programmes are £7.43, no dogs and only slight nudity.

If you open your eyes To the real world It is quite dark and cold and joyless Have a read of the news over the last 6 weeks Of course there is plenty of darkness, i'm fully aware of how awful things can be thanks. I try my best to not forget that there is hell of a lot to enjoy too.

The only weak link for me was the actor playing Jacob, i know it's not the strongest role as written but his performance to me felt like a heterosexual A level drama student playing CAMP! This reminds me of my favourite piece of direction from to an actor in a production of 'The Normal Heart'
"Oh dear, you are not a homosexual gentleman are you? ....learn"
Haha, love it! i guess that's what meant by the phrase ' a practising homosexual" ?

It's not my favourite production of the show, that would still be the Menier production. But still i think it's pretty decent. Like others have said it took me a while to adjust to the northern accent, but once i got used to it i thought it was fine. Although i didn't totally shake off the feeling that the entire show had been relocated to Blackpool! The only weak link for me was the actor playing Jacob, i know it's not the strongest role as written but his performance to me felt like a heterosexual A level drama student playing CAMP! After reading peoples comments on here and reports from friends who have been to see it, it sounds like Partridge gets very "emotional" at the end of every performance. It's good that after so many years in the business that the audiences response still can have that effect on him. No cynicism here at all

I'll add to the chorus of love for the show. It had my beaming like a goon and crying like a baby. i actually liked it's revue-like style it felt appropriate for the stories it was telling, very democratic

Great news, loved it in Sheffield. just the trailer made me emotional lol. That said a bit of tightening and the odd change wouldn't go amiss.
Parsley, i'm really glad i don't see the world through your eyes it must be such a dark cold joyless place.

Don't think it's ambiguous at all.
