That's a bit mean, he's not particularly my type but I have plenty of friends that would like nothing better.

Oh I love this thread, probably on account of being a nosy bugger . Just on the way home from work (house managing at a music venue) after a long but pleasant evening thanks to a nice show, audience, performers and crew. Now for tea, toast and booking train for trip to London to watch Honeymoon in Vegas concert

Can't wait, it will be our 7th visit in a row this year. Probably only there for 4 or 5 days this time though, it's so expensive. We often stay in Glasgow rather than Edinburgh, even taking travel into account it can half or less your accommodation costs. I'm also a big fan of colour coded spreadsheets. let the Edmin begin

I didn't mean to start this bad pun thing, i'm really sorry.
I watched some of the original show and found it entertaining enough, but it certainly didn't 'sing' to me.

I was disappointed as it has been so raved about. Affleck gave a stunning performance and there were a few moments of greatness. But I felt the movie was too understated for the emotions it was trying to portray. The fact that it was accompanied by a completely out-of-place score didn't help. I'd give it a 3 out of 5 or a 7 out of 10, but I wouldn't watch it again I don't think. I thought that about the score too, so over-egged sometimes I wondered if the film makers were trying to undermine the innate melodrama of the whole thing, a la Douglas Sirk. The odd touches of dark humour, which i actually quite liked, aided this impression. Overall despite the excellent performances particularly by Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams, i thought it was a little drab. Didn't help that I double billed it with La La Land and spent most of the time wishing i'd just stayed seated in the other screen and watched La La again.

I'm still relatively young, and it doesn't have to be west end. As for financial reasons my trips to London have to be rationed this year, i can probably use the slot for something better.

Really wanted to see this, as I love Bacharach and The Apartment is one of my favourite ever movies. However so much negativity is putting me off, I think i'll wait for another opportunity.

yes please to Titanic - I can imagine it at the Royal Exchange. But definitely yes to betty blue Eyes, but with a better Betty. I gather that pig came from Australia - there are plenty of puppet folk in the UK who could find a more mobile way to bring her to life. And I know Cameron likes to soften things (Follies?) but did it really make sense in the context of the plot, and with the Macbeth subtext, to have Betty survive? It may not have been so uplifting and the gimmick of Kylie would have gone, but it would have been truer to the material. Not a bad call, Titanic could work really well at the Royal Exchange. Coincidentally i have been telling anyone who will isen for the last few years that Betty Blue Eyes would be a great choice for their Christmas musical one year. fits their audience profile well and could be staged really well in the round.

This was an emotional rollercoaster for me. I think everyone in the cast was great, and tbh I liked Amy Lennox more than Cristin Milioti (well, based on what I've heard on the recording). Can't wait for the DVD to be released. Maybe it could even go to the cinemas? As to the plot and bland conversations, I think it's supposed to be that way as most of the characters are shattered in their own ways, so there's no room or will for eloquence. That last sentence exactly sums up what i thought about the blank/ blandness in the show.

Well different strokes for different folks I guess. I absolutely loved it and am totally gutted that I haven't been able to fit a second visit in. Given what i'd read about if before hand i expected to appreciate it as interesting at best, but i actually had a pretty emotional reaction to it to the point of not being able to speak about it for about half an hour afterwards. this was from the second to back row.
I have no criticism of the show and the venue was better than i expected but the rake on the seats is annoying to the point of me wondering if it's a joke. it seems purposefully designed to ensure that half of everybody's view is clipped off.

Watched this last night and loved it. If I could I would've happily stayed in the cinema and watched the next screening. Totally swoonsome!
Although I think he is an excellent actor I don't really get the Ryan Gosling as a heartthrob thing, however him and Stone make the perfect on screen couple and I was rooting for them throughout.

Exciting. Love Hope Mill, it's almost like having the Southwark Playhouse in my backyard:) Yank! Sounds interesting too but not sure about the title. it sounds more gay porn than gay musical. It must be the exclamation mark, I wonder how long it took them to come up with that?

Isn't Pride currently being developed by the team at the Old Vic? Also re Myra the Musical edinburghfestival.list.co.uk/event/425371-bonded-by-blood/Had tickets for this but missed it because the show we was watching before overran. Coincidentally that show was Thrill Me, about Leopold & Loeb. As you can tell I like my Musicals cheery I always thought Shirley Valentine could make a great musical.

He's very dreamy with that beard, lol. I work at the Bridgewater and I got a bit weak in the knees when he said hello when I "accidentally" happened to be at the stage door as he was leaving

Another vote Groundhog Day. This is getting a bit repetitive isn't it lol.
I haven't seen a show in which all the elements worked in such perfect combination with each other since I first saw Billy Elliot.
Runner up would be Lazarus.

Given this is always the busiest time time of the year at work, Christmas concerts galore, my theatre going usually stops late November early December until January, but we managed to sneeze in a visit to the Billy Elliot tour last night though.

Amy Lennox has posted on her Instagram that she has been involved in the workshop. Hmm, that takes "colour-blind" casting to a whole new level... Colour and gender blind, she's playing Ike!

Currently only got Dreamgirls and The Wild Party in London and Funny Girl on tour booked. Really need to try and ration London trips next year for the sake of my financial health. But trips down to see Angels in America and Follies are pencilled in.

Definitely side more with The Stage's view. Loved it. Kaisa Hammarlund is perfect casting for the lead, and everything else about the production was spot on too. Will certainly be making a return visit.
