So as an update from yesterday I cried no fewer than 5 times across the course of the day for various reasons. Got angry. Cried some more. (anyone want to employ an ex-academic, will write, research and teach for food- just not salad) So today I brought a sandwich and crisps. So at least my lunchtime will be improved. Oh no! Today will be a better day (and if not tomorrow is only a day away )

Huh... Audra doesn't have her own thread? Well she has now!
I love it when YouTube gives me recommendations such as this:

I had a massive baked potato which was swimming in chilli con carne and cheese for lunch. I'm starting to feel sleepy. My colleagues say I'm "tattie-stoned".

She was amazing during the run in Edinburgh Playhouse. She looked really humbled when everyone gave her a standing ovation at the end of the show (on both nights I've seen her). Looking on Instagram it seems she did a really nice thing on the last night - she sent roses to people at the stage door. So sweet.

Having a quick shuftie at the seating plans (it's quietened down considerably now so more time to browse without feeling guilty that 2543 people are waiting behind you!) the pattern seems to be most top price seats put on sale sold, and the cheapest (what few there were...) are sold. There seems to be plenty of 2nd, 3rd & 4th price though for most performances, plus whatever they've held back for public sale. Think the main issue will be where you'd get in the queue on the day! (and if the ticketing system doesn't have a hissy fit!) Oooh, thanks for that. I wasn't aware that only part of the tickets went on sale today. Good to know something is still reserved to the prestigious "General Public"

I wonder how may tickets will be left on 5th May. For a short moment I was able to select tickets for an evening in September, but I think that the system would've rejected me later (also, I'm skint, so no tickets for me right now). I would be surprised if this turned into Angels and was all sold out on 5th May, but who knows? Maybe people crave for Sondheim and Imelda?

Maybe 9th or 10th October? Thanks! No performances those dates, but the week after, 16th or 17th, there is a fairly large number of £41 and £57 seats left
x
Fab! Thank you very much for this reeceyroo x

Since I'm paying a lot for my "General Public" membership, I will wait until 5th May to book my tickets - do you know what is the availability for tickets later in the run? Any particular date you want me to have a look at for you?
Maybe 9th or 10th October? Thanks!

I work in a fintech startup and my role requires me to focus on the service operation. At the same time I am a part-time student of Computing and IT at Open Uni.

I am heading into London right now - got out of a cousin's baby shower (what is it with baby showers these days?!) What happens at a baby shower? Are people showering babies? Are they being showered with babies?

My strategy is to tell them politely and firmly that I can neither speak nor understand so much as a single word of English. In English, of course. Confuses the hell out of them. I've done that once in my smoking days. I was walking with a lit cigarette, some guy asked me if he can bum a cigarette from, to which I inhaled cigarette smoke and said "Sorry, I don't smoke". I think the guy experienced a cognitive dissonance.

My sense of direction always gets confused in London, even when I'm using a map on my phone, I hope I never clogged the pavement by trying to figure out which turn I should take next. When it comes to walking I really get annoyed when two people manage to take a full width of the pavement, forcing me to step off the pavement and walk on the road. I recently started to assume an "angry" look and if I see that someone is walking in my direction and takes the whole pavement I speed up and force them to make space for me. Doesn't always work. It's not anger you want, it's posture. Square your shoulders, straighten your spine, hold your head high, stride decisively. Makes people move out of your way much more efficiently than any facial expression could. I walk a lot, and walking around with an attitude of "I own the pavement" (an *attitude* of ownership, not by blocking it like everyone else does) is the most effective method I've found for keeping other pedestrians out of my personal space. What a brilliant tip! Thanks @baemax ! Also, angry doesn't go well with my pretty little face

First stage door experience yesterday and both Darius Campbell and Sheridan Smith were absolutely lovely. Darius was very keen to sign people's ticket, programmes and to chat with everyone. He even recorded a "congratulations" message for someone's wedding!
Sheridan Smith was really nice, she apologised for taking ages to leave the theatre and then she spent time signing stuff and taking pictures with people

Saw it for the second time in Edinburgh last night with seats in the circle. It was nice to see the whole stage this time. I even went to the stage door after the show and both Darius and Sheridan were lovely.

I have finished listening to the first 4 series of "Pilgrim" BBC Radio drama I got from Audible. Very enjoyable, good story, very good acting. Nice change to hear an audiobook with multiple actors instead of one narrator. Kate Fleetwood (of whom I've never heard before) has a really sassy role in it!

I don't expect this to be like the Angels, so I will book when general public can book and will aim for later dates (September/October)

There were offers on itison for the early part of this week. You might get a bargain there. Thanks zsazsa, it looks like there are no more offers available, but I already got a ticket for tomorrow, first time sitting in Circle (Row F). I might even spend some time at the stage door after the show, who know? I hope you'll enjoy it on Saturday!

I saw the show yesterday, opening night in Edinburgh Playhouse and what a show it was!
Before I went to the theatre I've only seen the movie with Barbra and Omar and listened to the London cast album. Never heard about Sheridan Smith (I'm not from UK originally and I don't have a telly).
I loved Sheridan's stage presence from the moment she walked on. And it got better with every minute. This was the 7th show I've seen in Playhouse this year and I think it was the best so far. I'm thinking about getting tickets for tomorrow, but I'm not sure I can justify that financially.
It was the first time I saw Playhouse this full (it's a barn with 3,000 seats and usually gets sold out for big names like Ricky Gervais and Amy Schummer) and everyone was at their feet during the bows.
If you can get a ticket - go and see it!

Day went well. A quiet day at the office, parents back in Poland and now I'm ready to start finishing my Open Uni assignments. Unfortunately, boyf can't make Funny Girl tomorrow, because his Masters is due at the end of next week, so will go with a friend from previous job.

^ Oh my, what a treat! What is Seth's husband's voice like? I really hope that she enjoyed these concerts and that she'll be back. Or that Seth decides to ship another diva into town, so we can have a nice eargasm

(...) and then Seth convinced her to sings Daddy's Son from Ragtime (which she turned and said 'I haven't sung this in 20 frickin years!') shed a tear at how emotional she got singing it. (...) That sounds amazing! Wish she sang that on Thursday Did she sing that instead of Summertime?

Of course we want to see your and Audra's pic! What was she like? Aww thanks she was lovely. I first had a quick chat with Seth and thanked him for all the deconstructions that moved me closer to Broadway. And then a quick thank you to Audra for a fantastic concert. I asked her to sign Lady Day leaflet I picked up at the venue, then a picture and that was it. When i got to speak to her I felt like a shy little boy, not knowing what to say. She's such a lovely person.
