Saw the show last night and it was actually one of my favourite times seeing it. I thought Cleve was absolutely fantastic as Usnavi, so glad he's getting the opportunity to play the role, and the whole cast, all 13 of them, were electric. I really do think its one of the best ensemble casts in London, they're all so very talented. You can feel from all of them that they're loving and appreciating being able to perform the show every night.
Gabriella Garcia was a revelation as Nina, so much passion, her Breathe gave me goosebumps and Phillipa Stefani was absolutely hilarious as Daniella last night, she grabbed the role by the balls last night. So glad to see Josie Benson back too, Enough is one of my favourite moments of the show.
Jonny Bishop made his debut as Sonny and Ryan Reid was on as Benny - a 3rd cover(!), probably the biggest lead I missed - Joe Aaron Reid has so much charisma it's difficult to emulate and although Ryan was good, I did miss Joe's interpretation.
Bless Jocasta Almgill as well, the opening number was just her dancing for the first chorus and then she was only joined by Sarah Naudi. The Club/Blackout did work with the limited cast but appeared a bit messier than normal. Spin was working double time too, as was Reiss Hinds.
The cast got a huge ovation at the end of the show, one that was truly deserved. Absolutely cracking cast!

I saw this a few days ago, I thought it was alright, George Maguire and Natasha Cottirall were fantastic, Lauren Samuels didn't really seem to do much, the rest of the cast were young, full of energy, but a bit hit and miss overall. Felt it was all a bit preachy by the end.
Some clever lyrics, some decent songs, felt at times it was one part Hamilton, one part Sweeney.
3/5

Christ that redesign is awful! I'm not exactly drawn to any of the new season announcements either, bit of a damp squib all round.

Thrilled for Cynthia and the 16(!) Hamilton noms! Will be interesting on the night to see which actor/actress awards it walks away with.
Can't believe Tony darling Audra has been left out of the noms and thought Benjamin Walker would be nominated for American Psycho too.

We still haven't heard about what will go to the Noel Coward, that's only just over a month away! I reckon this will be a transfer of a play for a couple of months, either a regional production or a UK tour... Maybe Bristol Old Vic's Long Day's Journey Into Night?

Plenty of understudies on last night
Ryan Reid for Benny Sarah Naudi for Daniella Jacosta Almgill for Camila Vas Constanti for Kevin Spin for Piragua
Also, Lily Frazer seems to have lost her middle range, don't know whether she's unwell at the minute? I remember being blown away by her in October but it was a bit of an uncomfortable listen last night. She could still hit all of the belts but they seemed clipped and the word 'horizon' noticeably became 1 syllable during Breathe. Maybe the run is taking it's toll? I hope she's okay! I think she's a fantastic MT actress.

I'm very surprise they haven't given Kimmy Edwards any U/S roles. I thought she was brilliant when i saw her in both Memphis and Ghost Really? Gosh, I'm surprised at that too especially after she covered Felicia in Memphis, thought she was a shoe in for one of the Nina covers.

Some of the things people were saying in the HUGE box office queue tonight were vile - both about Glenn and Ria. I do not envy the box office staff having to deal with this situation.
I ignored most of the comments I overheard, but had to turn around and correct a lady who said 'why would I want to see some inexperienced understudy woman over Glenn Close'(!!). One gentleman was literally giving away his ticket on the steps of the Coliseum, so my £12 balcony seat became a dress circle seat, utter fool.
Ria was extraordinary, I felt and believed every note she sang and every movement she made. Seeing that spotlight fall on her and hearing her sing 'I'VE COME HOME AT LAST' made me weep. Yes Ria, yes you have.
I loved seeing Glenn a couple of weeks ago, but tonight just took things to a whole new level, I felt like I truly believed Norma's descent into madness for the first time.
I'm back tomorrow eve, can't wait to see either again. Hope Glenn is recovering well.

Does anyone know when Rachelle is back in the London production? I want to see her against Eva. She'll be back on May 9 www.lesmis.com/uk/2016/01/cast-changes-for-les-miz-london/While I haven't seen anything announced, that date could be pushed back a bit because of her involvement in Les Mis' Manila run, which has been extended till May 1. I doubt it'd be pushed back though. The Manila run's Bishop said he's flying back to London on May 2. She's just tweeted she's back on 12th May

Pretty much the only Les Mis recording I listen to now is the 25th Anniversary live cast recording (with JOJ as JVJ). I find it has a lot of atmosphere, it's gritty and loud and I quite enjoy listening to the new orchestrations being played live as opposed to recorded in a studio. In the same vain, I much prefer a live cast recording (when it's done well) as you get an authentic emotional vocal performance of an actor playing that role in real-time and in situ rather than trying to replicate it in a recording studio and possibly out of show sequence. I think it's also vocally fantastic and quite thrilling - the closest thing to seeing it live! I find I simply can't listen to the OLC anymore, it's so mind-numbingly slow!! I thought Alfie Boe was JVJ for the 25th recording? I do agree though, that is probably my go to recording of Les Mis.

This is absolutely fantastic! I think they need to work on the sound during the big ensemble numbers as I found it very difficult deciphering the lyrics.
But the cast is great, Gina Beck, Chris Peluso and Alex Young as Ellie.
That act one finale is joyous and Ol Man River made me cry. Can't wait for act 2
