Claire Machin is appearing as Barbara Castle! Now thats casting to get excited about! Interesting that they have announced every cast member except who will be playing Rita... I just miss this show so much, will be an incredible long day for me (6 hour round trip) but worth it. Daniella Bowen (Mamma Mia International Tour) will be playing Rita according to their website With Alex Tomkins (The Commitments) as Eddie.

I saw this last night and thought it was absolutely fantastic, my main issue was a few sound problems, which I'm sure will be ironed out over the next few performances. But the music is gorgeous, sometimes moving and often hilarious, Andy Karl's central performance is outstanding and the whole cast work their butts off, I thought the set was inventive and thought there was some very clever direction and staging in there too. I can't wait to see it again! The Old Vic's programmes really are a complete waste of money, I was frustrated at the lack of song list and headshots as some other posters were too. I've had a go at putting together a song list, from Warchus's notes in the programme intro and a bit of memory... {Song list spoiler - click to view}The song list as of Saturday night, appeared to be...
Act 1 Weatherman Intro There Will Be Sun Small Town Punxsatawney Phil Rita's Notes #1/#2 Stuck Nobody Cares One Day Act 1 Finale
Act 2 Entr'acte Playing Nancy Hope If I Had My Time Again Night Will Come Tap Number Punxsatawney Phil (Reprise) Seeing You

I'm looking to book the cheap £25 seats for this one evening, any recommendations as to whether the extreme right or extreme left is best?

I voted Rebecca Trehearn, because, well, isn't it obvious...
Voting's changed quite a bit now, Rachelle has 23% of the vote.

Just got back from 'An Evening with Jamie Lloyd and Jenna Russell' which was a wonderful little post-show event after Doctor Faustus (thankfully didn't have to sit through it again though).
Most interesting point of the night was a discussion about Next to Normal. Lloyd himself has been trying to get the rights for a number of years over here to do a production with Jenna but has been unsuccessful. Jenna said it was one of her dream roles to do and she sung an absolutely sublime version of I Miss the Mountains.
I wonder why it's proving so difficult to get the rights?
Speaking of dream roles, she's keen to explore more Sondheim and would love to do an Adam Guettel show - Jenna in Light in the Piazza? YES PLEASE. She also spoke briefly about her disappointment at Grey Garden's short run and how the West End is unfortunately so commercialised and that New York is doing far more interesting musical theatre.
An interesting idea, that I doubt would ever come to fruition, also came about - a Sweeney - where Mrs Lovett and Sweeney are alternated between two actors. Resulting in female Sweeneys and male Mrs Lovett's.
Alongside I Miss the Mountains, she sang her favourite Sondheim - I Remember from Evening Primrose and More Than Just My Name from the late Victoria Wood's The Day We Sang.

Had to call them because of card issues, but nabbed one of the very few £17.50 seats, I just really cared about being in the room.

I understand David leaving was due to personal reasons, but saddened that Lily's was seemingly kept so hush hush, if she wasn't ill and had other plans already.

FREE tickets for under-25s, amazing. Artists impression - looks like its going to be at the bottom of Kings Boulevard right next to the station with the King's Cross Theatre at the top.

Vaudeville is far too small for a musical of that size and I've heard the Playhouse has a long-term tenant moving in. Just heard though…not confirmed. Oh gosh I'm so sorry. I meant to say 'Nice Fish', the play that is rumoured to come here with Mark Rylance. I don't know where Big Fish came from!! That's interesting regarding the Playhouse...
In fairness I really like the Big Fish score so would love that to come over, although its incredibly unlikely, but yeah I agree either Playhouse or Vaudeville for the Mark Rylance fish play.

I'm not even bothered about it necessarily being a new Glinda, I just want one of the over the top hilarious Americans to come over for a stint, in a dream world - Alli Mauzey.

Imelda performed Sinatra's Sing, Sing, Sing while there were some pantomime horses running about that could have come straight from one of Rose's dreams.
