My pal got us tickets for one of the Saturdays. Couldn't quite get the ones he wanted so I'm guessing it's selling ok out of the gate?

Was her dressing room in the foyer? I don't follow... I think Burly’s having some fun and making the forum a bit more interwoven. He must be having one of his good days... Honestly though, who's going to tell off Andy Serkis?

It's not the Stage Managers job, or Stage Hands job! Do you think backstage staff are there at the beck and call of the "Star"? Twenty minutes before a performance, yes! Everyone is responsible for the show being a success and job title shouldn’t matter. It’s not like Serkis is asking for a basket of puppies to play with, or being an entitled Pr**k. I would assume that 20 minutes before a show he’s got a bunch of stuff to do and that the show is somewhat predicated on him being ready to give his best performance. Wouldn’t anyone just muck in to make that happen? Maybe he's happy enough buying his own sweets and didn't want to bother anybody? I think we're being a bit precious if we believe that every actor has to gather themselves in a ritualistic pre-show routine to get into character. He's just got to get on the stage and start talking. Like he would on a film or TV set.

Last night I was trying to remember another catchphrase that me & my mate used regularly and it's just come back to me...
Being snarky about your pal by asking a question and finishing it with "are we?", like Miranda & Stevie always did.
"Wearing that shirt like you're going out in 1993, are we?"
"Staying in with Ben & Jerry tonight to deal with the pain of another year alone, are we?"
That sort of friendly banter, you know.

I hope Julia Hills is reading this to see how loved she is. I was very excited to see her as the Countess in All's Well at the Tobacco Factory, Bristol a few years back.
I'm currently rewatching 2point4 children on iplayer coincidentally.

I’ve never heard Miranda quoted or referenced anywhere by anyone. To suggest that it is a classic is to me, bizarre. Of course there is a generational thing going on but really? Miranda? Dreadful and unfunny to the point of embarrassment. Sorry! I'm constantly saying 'bear with'.

Didn't Julie Harris come over to London with it in the 70's after she won the Tony? I'm sure I saw her plugging it on one of those Thames TV throwback interviews recently...
It made me wonder whether there'd be demand for a starry revival.
Re: Emily D - I LOVED Terrence Davies's film 'A Quiet Passion' about her.

I mean, entertainment is entertainment I guess. Fawlty Towers is an odd one though, isn't it? Revered as one of the greatest ever sitcoms and yet they only made 12 episodes, which would in many other cases be considered a flop. Is it shown on TV often? They only made 12 because that's all John & Connie wanted to do, they'd divorced between the first & second series and I think writing together was a difficult procedure for them. The BBC would have happily run it throughout the 80's and into the 90's if possible, no doubt.

On the plus side, the bloke playing Basil looks pretty dishy.
And I hope the actress who's playing Mrs Richards is actually deaf, otherwise there will be HELL TO PAY.

I also booked immediately after seeing the reviews today, particularly after the rave from starchy drawers (Arifa, not you parsley1). I hope this sells out for them.

“Starry” is relative Is she Beyoncé is she Madonna I think it’s well known outside of Carrie Bradshaw SJP is not revered for her acting skills It would be preferable to have a “star” in a play which is a less lazy option and showcases their skills and stretches their repertoire Or even a non star in a good play To appear on stage once in a blue moon and to do it in this play Is unforgivable really She would have been better off doing “an evening with SJP” at the Barbican I think for a lot of us, we would rather see an actress ACTING than a pop star having a mediocre crack at it. I know it's come up a lot before but I don't think some people appreciate how iconic Carrie Bradshaw in SATC was for a lot of people (women and gays mainly, I grant you) and why she has a such a loyal following. The fact that SJP herself doesn't seem too far removed from the character, particularly in terms of fashion & lifestyle, is what has kept the glamour going to a degree. And no, she's not revered in the same way as a Meryl Streep or Katherine Hepburn but she has been a working actress for nearly 50 years, so I don't think she's got anything to be ashamed of.

Threads merged. I'm afraid some of the gags were first used in autumn 2020. Awks! You can't complain in a Steps-thread about lyrics/quotes already been used. It would wipe out a significant part of their discography. 😀 Thank you. How we were to know What the Future Holds?!!

Put in a production of The Boy From Oz, with Hugh Jackson playing Peter Allan. People wont care if hes not quite the right age for it, they'll go and see Hugh in anything. I'd pay big bucks to see him do that show again. Unfortunately he also makes it very hard to find someone of a similar level who could take over the role. Lets have some new shows that have never played London and far less film to stage adaptations That's a coincidence you bring up TBFOz, I was talking about it yesterday with a colleague who'd worked on the original production in Australia. She'd misremembered that it had eventually made it to the West End. He could totally pull it off still. It would be a good high-profile job to go alongside any special announcements that Hugh needed to get off his chest. You know, what we've been wondering for years... how much longer he's going to be playing Wolverine in the MCU, I mean. Of course.

Stephen Mangan at last night’s Plaza Suite. He didn't awkwardly stand up in the middle of it and say "SJP, you're AMAZING" did he?

I couldn't imagine Beetlejuice being a big enough pull to fill Drury Lane, but we will have to wait I guess. Don’t forget it would benefit from the release of Beetlejuice 2 which is in 2025 It's sooner than that even, September 2024.

Antigone in the Lyttelton with a very good cast An adaptation of The Grapes of Wrath coming soon too One of your two announced today! No Ben Whishaw though, as potentially speculated for the prospective novel to stage adaptation. I still think he might be doing something at the Almeida.

Is this Daniel Evans first time on stage since Company at the Crucible? Excluding various Sondheim concerts He also did The Pride in the Studio up at Sheffield. Think that was after Company. *actually I'm wrong, that was just before he did Company. So, yes, Bobby was his last role. **not including him playing that pimp in the Les Mis film
