I can't find the post anymore but a while ago had a poster suggesting it was going into the Noel Coward. If so,that would make it a short run between Player Kings and Dr Strangelove or following the latter in January 2025.

Is this different to the Leeds playhouse production? Sadly yes by all accounts. I wouldn’t be so sure. Cameron saw this in Leeds and absolutely adored it by all accounts.

It will be the main musical opening in July

How would this work though if plans were already in place for Chichester's own production? If Justin Audibert was planning to direct, for example, or if the designer or musical director were already in place.
Does that all just get thrown out?
We've been talking about it on here for a few months so a lot must have been in the planning stages.
Happy Xmas everybody, btw.

The playhouse production will be taken to Chichester next summer with adjustments, then, transferring in after starlight express, some time in 2025..
That’s my prediction..
The Leeds production could also just transfer, it’s so good and worthy of a home in London.

To me, it would be a no-brainer to transfer the Leeds production. It's fantastic, absolutely superb.

A few weeks after I booked my ticket for Oliver at Leeds I was informed that the staging would now be "in the round" with the option to request a change of seat if I wished.
That would certainly link to a potential transfer to Chichester rather the two separate but similarly staged productions. A significant cost saving too.
Best production of Oliver I have ever seen, ready-made gold-plated sure-fire crowd-pleasing hit wherever it goes next !

Given that Cam Mack controls the rights for this show, he won't allow any professional productions within at least 100 miles of London

Also if Chichester have lost a fortune with Crazy for You in London could be very cost effective to go with existing Oliver this season??

Chichester wouldn’t have had any liability at all with the west end run. Ah cool that is good to know! Cam Mac will produce Oliver next year - first in Chichester in the summer of 2024 and will then transfer the production to the West End in Jan 2025. The production will have no links at all with the Leeds Playhouse production. That production will close at the end of its Leeds run. The director of the new production will be someone already with links to the last outing of the West End production in 2009- and will not be directed by the director of the Leeds production.

Matthew Bourne is directing Chichesters one I believe If he is, I hope he’s allowed to do something brand new with it, rather than just a scaled down version of the Mendes original/Goold revival.

The most important thing is they don't cast Matt Lucas as Fagin
