Row N of the stalls I think. The Mayflower is vast and you quite far back in the circle, although the view is fine.

I would say the box office has hardly been set alight They need more cheques, mate. Cheques are so last century though - I think bank transfers is what they're after!

Plus Billy called urgently to school to discuss Summer and then next seen casually sitting in the Rovers with a glass of wine! The scene in the church isle of him and his brother off their faces on heroin had me howling with laughter - is this wrong? Good to see the comedy back on the show!

Late to the party with this but thought it was wonderful. Such a pleasure to see a vibrant new ( British ) musical on the London stage.
Great songs, great staging and lighting, funny and moving.
All the performances were excellent I thought, but of course John McCrea and Josie Walker gave standout performances. Talking to an usher (as you do ) apparently John has not missed a show - over 100 performances!

I have always been bewildered why fringe shows where the actors have not been paid much (if anything at all) were looked upon and reviewed as professional shows. To me the definition of professional is being paid - at least the minimum wage by law. If the performers are not paid it is simply an amateur show whether the performers were professionally trained or not. No different to the local am dram society.
So I support Mark Shenton in this, although he has strongly championed the Union Theatre in the past ( I believe he lives locally to the theatre) where performers have been paid well below Equity rates in the past. I hope he sticks to his commitment!
My only concern is that if actors are prepared to work for free it is because they want the exposure and the showcase of what they can do and need the "reviews" to help their careers - so not reviewing fringe/amateur work may work against them.

My list would be the overdone "most popular" plays by authors - and yes that would include Shakespeare - Hamlet, Lear, Dream, Macbeth, Much Ado etc. All done to death...
Blithe Spirit Present Laughter Private Lives Streetcar Named Desire The Crucible Death of A Salesman The Winslow Boy The Importance of Being Earnest Hobsons Choice Inspector Calls Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe
..................and I'm sure there are more......

I have booked a £15 balcony ticket for this - love the score. Looking at the ENO website today - the first time I have done this since the casting was announced - I would say the box office has hardly been set alight! Still HUGE availability for a show which opens in 8 weeks. I would think there will be lots of deals and offers for this nearer the time. Otherwise Ms Ball and Burke are going to be playing to lots of empty seats!

I've booked a £15 gallery seat. It will be great to hear the score played by a full orchestra. The casting has not tempted me to pay any more.

On another note this seasons announcement does not seem to have caused much discussion on here. Usually there are multiple posts either loving the season or saying it's lacklustre for various reasons. At least some discussion. However, this year apathy seems to be the reaction.

The train station being at the other side of Chichester doesn't help either. A 15 minute brisk walk across the car park and through the town and the hope of getting out of the theatre before rigor mortis sets in among the audience!

I have this lovely vision of a Chichester lady of a certain age going to the box office and saying "I'd like to see Cock" and the Box Office Assistant responding "Wouldn't we all".

No casting announced for Bill or Sally which are the pivotal leads. It will do amazing business in Chichester. The show is well due for a revival and if it receives good reviews will almost certainly transfer to London I would think.

IMO, simply put, Amber was the better singer and Marisha the better actress. Marisha's performance was more raw emotionally and that affected the vocal. I enjoyed both performances.

So glad I saw this at the intimate Minerva Theatre at Chichester last year for only £48! The prices for this are unbelievable - £100 £125 even £145 for Premium super seats! Still it has to be the last major stage role for McKellen and he is absolutely riveting!

A dreadful set of songs. The whole Eurovision thing is like a poisoned chalice - no-one wants to have anything to do with it now. We could send Adele with a Grammy Award winning song and we would still have null points!
Liam Tamme has the best voice but the worst song.

All the above names mentioned recently above (although extremely talented) are not going to shift tickets at £150 a pop!

We got very few leaks last year and this year looks the same. I guess we will just have to wait. No idea even what the "big" musical is in the main house!

I remember the 1995 revival with Adrian Lester well - he was (is) gorgeous. Plus of course the incomparable Sheila Gish giving her Ladies Who Lunch!
A shame, in my view, this piece cannot be left alone but we are living in a time where it has become fashionable to recast male roles as female in virtually everything. Of course this colour/gender blind casting only works one way - imagine the furore if a white girl was cast as Effie White in Dreamgirls or a man was cast as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady!
I always think that an all male panel of Loose Men at lunchtime on ITV bitching about women and making lewd jokes about young female guests would rightly be taken off the air after one episode. With genders reversed however........

The Co-op and Costa is all about lucrative product placement.
Those poor actors now have to not only know their lines and hit their marks but ensure that the Costa coffee cups are held facing the camera! It's known in the industry as a triple threat!

Have most of the tickets for the new booking period sold already? I don't want to encourage Cameron and co but the first booking period sold out pretty much instantly, surely it'd make more sense to charge £75-£500 and have it take 4 months than £37.50-£250 and have it take 3 days. To answer your question - out of curiosity I looked at random dates for the new booking period and there is LOADS of availability at all prices it seemed. So it would appear the new booking period is selling MUCH slower than the original booking period. The prices for a decent seat are ridiculous and must be a factor in the slower sales, BUT each to their own as to how and where they spend their money.

Bonnie Langford can sing - I remember being very surprised at her voice when she played Mabel in Broadway Pirates at Drury Lane (back in the day). She never quite lived down the child performer thing and it took her appearance on Dancing on Ice (I think?) to revive her musical career.
But agree with above posters she isn't right for Follies.

Stockard Channing in Apologia. A very funny episode although the twist was a bit of a disappointment.
