Running round a revolve in an attempt to show you're driving a car, didnt seem to be highly imaginative staging. I suppose he could have stood still and made steering wheel motions with his arms. And there were “projections” of course. How would you have done it? . A simple steering wheel prop could have helped I agree. Or perhaps a chassis of a car set in the seats of the auditorium? Perhaps the chorus could have all come close (not too close) together and made the shape of a car like Skimbleshanks. Just like the non dance section in A Perfect Year / both were not perfect!

I’ve heard most shows won’t open till summer of September. Such a shame and so sad.... You keep saying this on lots of threads with no source.... Can we stop the doom and gloom. Shows will open as soon as they are allowed to do so. Actually I don’t say it on LOTS of threads - I said it on the Come From Away chat and kindly revealed my source / THE PRODUCERS!!! What else do you WANT? My phone number, address, video proof, producers details and a cake? Jeezzzzzz

Not very exciting casting at all. Also Ralph Fiennes is no longer doing it. They are having to find a female Miss Trunchbull to avoid a trans backlash. what ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ? No male Trunchbull? Trans? Zzzzzz please!

Yes I also thought it would be. So that's my 2 shows for Jan and Feb cancelled or postponed. Next on the list is Hairspray in April and I'm having doubts about that too. I sadly don’t think the West End will open till the summer really.

I keep thinking about who they'll get for this. I'd hoped that Hadley would get a proper production after the concert last year but he's in City of Angels. Can't lie I really would like to see Rosalie Craig play Julie though. For Billy, the only person I could kind of think is Michael Xavier but I don't know... anyone have any other ideas? The only person is Micheal Xavier? Do you know how many actor/singer males there are out there in the business the same age as him? Ok 90 percent are not as hot hahaha

Thinking back to I'd do anything I always thought Francesca Jackson was very good. I loved Jodie and was glad she won, but Francesca really sold that song. She’s an excellent talent! I saw her in a Kenwright Barry Manilow musical - Can’t Smile Without You? We should see more of her. Be good to get her into EastEnders too.

My source is a West End cast member who I spoke to over the weekend on the phone who was told from their US/UK producer.
Besides you also have to take into consideration set building and rehearsal periods. Cinderella for example will need 6-8 weeks being a new show. Others with new casts or just a general refresh will need 2-3 weeks or longer.
The West End is not going to open in March or April sadly.
I say summer or Sept like the producer suggested.

I think the story is excellent but it all looks too new and colourful and polished for the time.
I personally also don’t like the historical inaccuracies in the casting. I just want an historical series like The Crown to have casting that matches the original person. Rewriting history due to social justice is getting tiring.

I presume the April/May opening will be put back AGAIN?
Surely they need to rehearse for 1/2 months before and that’s sadly not going to happen with a new covid strain.
Even if they vaccinate 1 mil a week by April or May that leaves 50 million without protection.
I’ve heard rumours of summer or September for shows to reopen now. (Coming from a friend IN a current closed show via producers today)
How sad.

The very first Les Mis & Phantom tours both did at least three months in Manchester as their first stop. I bet you are young and under 30/35! Phantom was in Manchester in the early 90’s for over two years!

Watching tonight - THIS IS AMAZING!!!
How creative, stylish, clever with an amazing cast. The filming, staging, sound, direction... Wow.
Shame that Ria as Norma is flat, strained, pitchy with surface level obvious acting and and tinny shrill singing voice. She’s not great and I don’t know why she’s leading this show at all. She’s the worst Norma out of all the actress/singers I’ve seen. What a shame Mazz Murray never had a stab.
That aside the production is sensational! 9/10.

With the recent announcement of London going into Tier 3, this will unfortunately mean that performances from Wednesday onwards will be cancelled/postponed. Really gutted for everyone who booked tickets and will not be able to see it, until London goes down to Tier 2 or 1. But on a potentially positive note, the government announced that they would be reviewing tiers weekly from now on, so hopefully (and that is a big 'HOPEFULLY') the show will go back up and running soon. That is IF we go back into Tier 2, or 1 in a week or two. A week or two? Try March
