I don’t get the excitement for this production. It was misjudged in almost every way (IMO). Rashan Stone in particular. Hence the reason it never transferred. All theatre owners went to see it and none wanted it. The ratings atop this thread tell a different story. We all know why this did not transfer. There's no doubt in my mind this would have been a hit had it debuted at the Old Vic as originally planned.

I think I was excited by it because it was my first time seeing it on stage. In retrospect I feel it was probably the show itself and a couple of performances that had impressed me, rather than this production.

This is definitely not a pro-shot? Unless someone has now unloaded the boot. Nice to see some discussion of this show again regardless:) I wouldn't call it a bootlegt. The camera is dead centre and above the audience's head and the picture and sound are too good
"I'm gonna keep my eye on the usual places this turns up, but I doubt anyone was able to download it in the time"
Lol, I've also downloaded it now to be safe. After watching it, I see why it didn't transfer.

The aesthetic is definitely exciting and mostly brilliant... but, as others have said, several things just feel massively out of place and inconsistent (the entire design of the Witch doesn't fit with this production at all) but the spectacle of the set is pretty tremendous.

I'm STILL annoyed that the vibe for the Witch post transformation was 'Jane from HR'

Why was the tree at Cinderella's mothers grave, a flower in a vase?
Why is Riff Raff from the Rocky Horror Show narrating Into The Woods?
How does Alex Young not land many of the funny lines?

I realise how much James Lapine probably helped with getting the comedic timing of lines down in both his versions, seeing as many of the lines that could be turned into such great gags with the right kind of cadence and acting, seen in that original Broadway cast are just played utterly straight here.

Does someone have the link to this, or has it been taken down?

The video discussed is not a proshot - it’s a boot. A very well done boot but still not a proshot. I was very excited to hopefully have that production transfer since I never got to see it but now I’m more than ok with someone mounting a totally different production, as discussed here earlier.

It was an okay production, if a bit inconsistent, both logically and aesthetically. None of the edits on the book was an improvement. I think the director(s) should have worked a bit more on the actors: Alex Young in particular was born to play the role, and yet she was only okay in it. It's the first time I watched Into the Woods and thought that, as Patti would say, the Baker's Wife is a supporting role. What were the edits to the book ? Please and thanks
