The EBU should take action against Iceland - disqualification after the fact seems rather pointless. I imagine some sort of fine - though they could get a year's suspension.
They should also without Madonna's fee - her dancers broke the rules and her singing broke my ears.

Thought the show was better than last year ,but just too long. I'm sure they never used to give that long to vote before and there seemed to be a lot of recaps and plenty of interval acts. The quality of the songs was pretty good. I had the 1st and 2nd place spot on until the dreaded public vote ruined it!We didn't deserve last place either, but hey, that's Brexit! Madonna was not good either. Amazed she wanted another staircase after the fall at the brits, maybe having to come down made her sing off key!

Yes, far too long. Titanic was on E4 and when I turned over panic was ensuring on the ship and they were lowering the women and children into the lifeboat and this was tiger than Titanic on television with commercial breaks!
This was the first year in many that I actually enjoyed a lot of the songs.
The leather clad punks screaming from Iceland- what the hell was that? And that dull, boring couple dressed in white sining in monotone from Macedonia
The problem with these songs is that a lot of them have been hits in Europe, but not here in the UK. Unless you download them straight away, these songs are gone.
By the end I was tired and one the announced that The Netherlands had won, I went to bed.

Loved the Danish entry, one half of the German group (the blonde), the Macedonian's voice and Graham Norton's sarcasm and annual Wogan tribute (why at song 9, I forget?). Hated the length of the show and over-production, and Madonna was just embarrassing, alas. I did wonder if it was microphone trouble, but no mic creates that many bum notes, surely? I might be wrong but I think in the old days song 9 was the half way point and he always had a drink then. That was when there were fewer countries entering. Of course now, Song 9 means we have just about started.

Re Madonna - even after the event, the embarrassment factor escalates: www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/entertainment-arts-48342109/eurovision-2019-what-happened-to-madonna-s-performance

Apparently the UK entry has been deducted 5 points (down to 11 from 16). The contest said an incorrect calculation had been used to create a "substitute" set of points after the Belarusian jury was dismissed.
Seems a bit petty! As if the UK are not humiliated enough!

Makes you wonder if they "miscalculated" anyone else's score.

Makes you wonder if they "miscalculated" anyone else's score. Yes, they did. Essentially, the Belarus jury was disbarred before the night of the contest because they revealed how they'd voted in the semi-final. In order to give a result from Belarus, they looked at countries that were "culturally similar" to Belarus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia) and averaged their jury votes in order to get a simulated result from Belarus. However, somewhere along the line, someone hit the wrong "Sort" button on the Excel spreadsheet and they gave the Belarus points to the countries that got the LOWEST scores from the "culturally similar" countries. So Israel got 12 votes from the simulated Belarus jury despite no-one liking it. Credit to Eurovisionworld who worked this out before the EBU admitted it: eurovisionworld.com/esc/eurovision-2019-the-mysterious-points-from-belarus-jurySo a lot of countries changed scores, and some of them changed position too: Corrected Eurovision 2019 Grand Final Results Netherlands (498 points) / +6 points Italy (472 points) / +7 points Russia (370 points) / +1 point Switzerland (364 points) / +4 points Sweden (334 points) / +2 points / +1 place Norway (331 points) / -7 points / -1 place North Macedonia (305 points) / +10 points / +1 place Azerbaijan (302 points) / + 5 points / -1 place Australia (284 points) / -1 point Iceland (232 points) / – 2 points Czech Republic (157 points) Denmark (120 points) Cyprus (109 points) / + 8 points / +2 places Malta (107 points) / + 12 points /+2 places Slovenia (105 points) / -2 places France (105 points) / -2 places Albania (90 points) / +1 place Serbia (89 points) / -3 points / -1 place San Marino (77 points) / – 4 points / +1 place Estonia (76 points) / -10 points / -1 place Greece (74 points) / +3 points Spain (54 points) / -6 points Israel (35 points) / – 12 points Belarus (31 points) / +1 place Germany (24 points) / -8 points / -1 place United Kingdom (11 points) / -5 points Source: wiwibloggs.com/2019/05/22/eurovision-2019-grand-final-results-amended-following-human-error-over-belarus-aggregated-jury-score/

I find this process to be baffling.
I would much rather Belarus had their scores removed completely from the equation. Trying to average from neighbouring states is just pointless and unfair.
The EBU must be glad that it didn't alter the winner - that would have been intolerable.
But they need to change the system to prevent this happening again. Perhaps a shadow jury system - but making numbers up isn't the answer (and that is what they effectively did)

Next year,I think we should go for the super-group approach. How about Katrina and the New Waves featuring Cliff, the remaining members of Bucks Fizz and some randoms such as Darren Day,Sonia and Right Said Fred! Can’t do any worse, can we?

Have you watched the contest in recent years? Why would a bunch of pensioners gain any more votes, unless as a novelty act like the Russian grannies? Are you going to have Cliff and Bucks Fizz morris dancing?

if I had my way I'd have Clean Bandit write our song next year a real pop/club hit. Something with a bit of personality.
Also our staging was all wrong this year. Michael Rice walking all over the place was a mess. There was no focus.
