Maybe they should get the four Viva Forever girls back together to do a number?!
... oh wait, one of them is actually well known now. Don't do it Hannah. Don't do it.

First of all, should we start a new thread or just rename this one?
Also, I just read Madonna is gonna be there as a guest performer and she's getting one million dollars for it.

Don't get me started on this year. So few songs to like. Never felt so unenthusiastic about the contest. The staging will need to be incredible

I have no idea how the Netherlands are favourite to win so far. It's like a Chris Martin/Coldplay reject song that plods along and doesn't go anywhere.

I know exactly why the Netherlands are doing well - it is because the video appears to feature a hot naked man swimming in the ocean - it is being viewed for that reason more than the song itself - which is pleasant enough but bland.

I applaud your research ethics

The Dutch entry is far less interesting without the video:

These are clips for all 2019 entries.
Only Australia is memorable, but it is opera and that has never won.

Im afraid I am a bit "old school" as far as Eurovision is concerned as I love cheesy, camp, silly songs. I have to admit I have only skipped through about half of the songs but from what I have heard the show should be renamed Eurovision Ballad Contest. A bit dreary for me I am afraid but blame it on my age.

Alec - if you want something upbeat and camp - Spain might be the one for you this year. It is a definite party song (though the singer has struggled to sing it live)
Otherwise Norway with Spirit in the Sky fits the more classic cheese style.
If you want a classic cheese ballad - look at North Macedonia - it is big, blousy and I like the message of Proud.
The oddest "song" this year (and possibly ever) is from Portugal. I haven't managed more than about 20 seconds of it. But it is certainly up there with the strangest things ever. I don't really think it is a song - it is random noises with odd contemporary "dance" and metallic facial hair.

I watched Portugal's entry the other day. The only thing I can say is that Portugal REALLY don't want to have the expense of staging the show again next year.
On first listen I wasn't too sure about Sweden's entry, but after a few listens, I think it's great. Not sure how it will do on the night.
Australia's entry is their worst one yet.
With the right staging, the UK might even get onto the left side of the board.

Portugal are heading for a top 10 finish with that - if you believe the betting
Sweden doesn't feel very Swedish to me. Australia are trying to do what Estonia did last year - but it will never thrive.

Found a brilliant video on you tube earlier which had the top 3 songs for every year since the start. The 70s, 80s and beginning of the 90s were the heyday years. It all seemed to go downhill from there where the whole thing got bigger more professional and enough strobe lighting to make you epileptic.

He was in a talent show similar to the X Factor/Idol and he was quite good. P.S. I've met him and he's even prettier in person.

I agree that he isn't a good match for the song - he just can't control his breath well enough to match the energy of the track. But as a number, it is one of the few party tracks that I could imagine hearing again whilst on holiday - the vast majority of these ballads will never be heard again!

There is this. With much more staging would be memorable. Pretty lad with a great voice. Croatia.

We are getting one classic Madge track and one new - and she is pocketing $1 million for 2 songs...
Nice work if you can get it

Considering that something like 180 million people watch Eurovision, shouldn't Madonna be paying the EBU, rather than the other way around?
