OK I get it now. Make the new stuff look good - butcher one of your own classics. It's a mediocre song but a blessed relief after the wreckage of Like A Prayer.

Bit of a jaw-dropping performance by Madge...and now the voting.Always love the voting reps from each country and the way they grasp their 2 mins of international fame with both hands.Rylan looks very suave.Great speech about equality from the Austrian Rep.

Loving Norton’s biting sarcasm as always.Good mixture of eye-rolling derision, ironic commentary and outright contempt.Brilliant!

What's happening to me? I quite liked most of these songs. Graham super as per but it wasn't Madge's finest hour. Go Duncan!

Is the UK coming last or second last? I'm going to say not last. Which as usual underlines why I should never predict anything as I always get it wrong. It was a bit uninspiring but absurd it came last, there were much worse ones. So Dutch Chris Martin wins it.

Any voting system that allows the dullness of Slovenia/creepiness of San Marino to beat a very creditable UK song is never one that will allow us to thrive

Slovenia was my second favourite, was hoping for Sweden to win Macedonia was giving me Christina Aguilera- Beautiful knock-off vibes. Had a three minute nap when UK came on. Most surprised that Iceland managed to get any votes!

Not Madge’s finest hour. If only she had realised that if she knocked out a couple of hits in a way that kept the party going this would have been a sure fire winner. Not like a prayer sung as glumly and tunelessly as that. Future would work well mid concert but not strong enough on its own.
On a positive note it might make getting tickets for the tour easier!
Feel sorry for Michael Rice. Once again we pay the price for a bland song with bland staging (disregarding the politics) but there was no way he was the worst there. He deserved better.

Madonna was not good!
I agree we didn't deserve last place, San Marino was so much worse.
The song was pretty bland though and I think we suffer from not taking part in the semi-finals and advertising our song enough. Germany and Spain suffered similarly with Germany getting nothing from the public vote, and both their songs were quite good, I voted for Spain myself.
The crowd clearly knew a lot of the other songs and were singing along, there were a few with number 1s in other countries. I love Eurovision and also listen to the radio at work every day but had not heard our song before, we don't give anyone time to learn to love it!

The BBC do not want to win this. Because of the huge expense and management time involved in staging the competition. However there is so much comptition now, even if they try they probably will not win. It is becoming embarrasing now.
So now they can start trying to win, instead of sending a second-rate song every year.

i don't need to hear songs many times just to like them, if i like a song it stays in my mind the first time i hear it happened to me with Mans Zelmerlöws "Heroes", Loreens "Euphoria" and others

Some woman reviewing the newspapers on Andrew Mars show just now and talking about Eurovision. She said she watched it all and always does as likes it and then said "some Norwegian man won". Get your facts right love especially if you claim you saw the programme.
Also agree about Rylan, he was very good in the semis especially his interviews in the taxi in the first semi. He clearly loves Eurovision and makes fun of it in a good way.

This wasn’t even an exclusive performance of Like a Prayer - Madge performed it almost identically at the Met Gala last year.
I thought her performance was a hoot! Coming on a song contest and not being able to sing in tune! Must of been performance art, nay?
Quite enjoyed her new song especially after the dreary version of LaP.

Looks like those flags were hastily taped on the backs of those dancers. It would never have been approved.

Yikes Madge really was the real low point of the whole thing. Come on, you can get that note...oh, missed it again.... Compulsive, perhaps for all the wrong reasons though.
But I love Eurovision for its many delicious eccentricities and enjoyed last night’s show, not least Graham Norton’s quips. Loved Sweden and Netherlands. Our song was just “oh ok then, it’s alright” (but Michael performed as well as could be expected) and I REALLY wanted to get on one of Australia’s poles and have a sway #notaeuphemism

Two thoughts:
Madonna: Music unites people. Yes, Madge, everyone was united in thinking you were rubbish.
Israel now says it plans to punish Iceland's BDSM group for displaying the Palestinian flag. Wouldn't it be more of a punishment not to punish them?
