I predict a LOT of screaming tonight, arms outstretched and hugging as each contestant finds out who they're paired with.

" You're the celebrity I really, really wanted as a partner," will probably be said more than once...through gritted teeth.

Opening number. Audience clearly visible sitting there quietly with their hands in their laps yet cheering and clapping. Now that's magic!

Did you spot Wiltons Music Hall as the venue for the dance to introduce the new dancers?

I hadn't spotted that Neil has missed out on a partner again.
Which is a shame.
Cameron should have been in with a shout too rather than the newbie male pros

No really young contestants this year. Normally one or two youngsters in their late teens/early twenties.

Molly is only 21 so she is probably the youngest

Well, that was fun.
Two same sex couples.
Motsi has such sass!
I'm sure he'll be great but Hamza's hair! Those dreadlocks are almost down to his ankles!
Personally, I'm expecting big things from Tyler and Fluer.
I think that Will will be too much of a 'Jack the Lad' to take this too seriously.
Alas, so early on I'm not holding out much hope for the longevity of either Tony or Kaye- but I'd love to be proven wrong.
I wonder how the height difference will be factored in for the ballroom dances in wild between Ellie and Nikita?

Neil didn’t get a partner, neither did the other professional male dancer- Jacob I think- who was dancing when John Legend was singing. Neither Luba or the two new female professionals were not partnered.

Kai has been absolutely done dirty this year. Finalist (kinda) to probs one of the first out.
I wonder if Gio requested having a male partner for a challenge?
Neil has had 2 partners in 6 years, surely somethings up there?
New dancers look good but it’s a shame that they have jumped right in other the others that have been waiting to come up.
I think the celebs do actually look better than I thought they would. Matt Goss seems like he might love himself a bit too much though, I don’t think he will take criticism well. There’s definitely less younger people this year and more 40+.
I really do wish they’d get rid of Claudia and Tess though, mostly for the way they shout “THE JUDGES” in such a flat depressing tone.

Those dreadlocks/braids will have someone's eye out if he is doing a fast dance like the jive or Charlton.
I had a feeling Ellie would be partnered with Nikita as he seems to be one of the shortest but there is still quite a height difference so will be interesting to see how they get around it and I agree about Kai. Poor lad won't be in it for long and he is one of my favourites.

Did you spot Wiltons Music Hall as the venue for the dance to introduce the new dancers? That sequence was one of the highlights of the night for me. Poor love. Vicky Gill used so much fabric for her cape, there was only enough left for one sleeve.

So if I'm right, tonight all 15 couples will perform, get critiqued and scored by the judges- and those scores will be carried across till next week- but no one leaves tonight

I will be amazed if the dance off isn't between Tony and Kay.
Should really be a double sashay

We all know that in the early weeks it's a popularity contest rather than dance talent. BTW go to the loo now as I see it's on Tonight for 7 hours!!!!

Fashion: Motsi: I don’t quite know what it is but it’s fabulous. Tess: the crotch is all wrong. Claudia: will she ever get past that long fringe, frosted pink lippy Chrissy Hinde wannabe look? The white boots are awful.
Yes, I am your Strictly fashion maven 🙂

What a perverse set of scores.
No way was Matt Goss only worth 20. A quickstep in week 1 is a huge challenge and he was a lot better than many who scored 21 to 26 points.
A lot of potential throughout.
But Tony and Kay are by far the worst of the pack

A lot of potential throughout. But Tony and Kay are by far the worst of the pack I agree. And I think that both Tony and Kay are very much aware so. Will was a complete surprise. After her dance Ellie Taylor looked in total shock . thank heavens for Johannes. Hamza did remarkably well. Wow! Did Vito get into it! It was like he had been holding himself back! Great to see Ellie Simmonds through herself comely into it but I do wonder how she will go with the ballroom dances. As it was Nikita had to bend down. Richie- his enthusiasm is like the guy from Made in Chelsea from a coupe of years back. Rein it in!

There appeared too much praise in the comments and over scoring. Quite a mixed bag really but some surprises.

It was very apparent that Shirley Ballas gave someone an 8 because she couldn’t find whatever paddle she wanted to use. When Claudia very wisely double checked with her, Ballas lied and laughed it off.
That is how seriously the judges take the marking, which explains a lot.
