It was very apparent that Shirley Ballas gave someone an 8 because she couldn’t find whatever paddle she wanted to use. When Claudia very wisely double checked with her, Ballas lied and laughed it off. That is how seriously the judges take the marking, which explains a lot. A 7, but she’d registered a 6 when they have to enter their scores so the graphics team can be ready. It’s happened in the past that a judge has accidentally entered a different score to the one they actually wanted to give.

I think Motsi had borrowed the bedspread from her room at the Elstree Travellers Inn.
Shirley showed she's still very much got it in that opening group number, unlike Craig, who really needs to find some new steps. I looked up his age. 57. He's got the forehead of someone 30 years younger!
From the little we saw on the launch show, I thought Matt Goss from Bros would struggle. I was right. Perhaps he was hoping to hide his footwork with the width of his trousers.
The camera shots from behind the other contestants are annoying. I want to see dancing, not chuffing backsides!

Matt Goss seemed to think he was much better than everyone else did.

My prediction is- regardless how well or poorly a celebrity performed- nuring homes across the country would have been going off last night.

Will Mellor I think is the one to look for in the competition.

Matt Goss seemed to think he was much better than everyone else did. I also sensed a drop in everyone else’s enthusiasm when he was talking. I’m guessing he’s not giving off good vibes backstage. From the look of it I think he was expecting a top score. Craig was up-scoring average scorers and down-scoring better ones. It was a VERY strong week 1 but if you’re giving people 9s already then you’ve set a bar for your scoring going forward. Will really did surprise me too and id place a bet on him to win. The UK strictly audience love that middle aged cheeky happy type. It’s also a shame to see contestants and pros already looking unhappy with their scores on week 1. You’d have thought Fleur got all 5s with the way she reacted to hers. I like Molly, I think she will be one of those who didn’t realise her potential until now. I may be wrong but I sense that she’s not danced in her career?

Another very strange evening if voting not matching the comments
There was no way that QS was worth 32.
Craig needs to be let off the leash. He 8s being too kind.

The most memorable moment tonight was Matt Goss's trousers.
I've actually just booked tickets for the tour at the o2. Don't ask me why!

Shirley's whole tone and demeanour was so different with Ellie T and Fleur than it was with Tyler and Tony...
And why does she insist on standing up and dancing along with certain celebrities?

There was no way that QS was worth 32. BBC 'stars' often seem overmarked.

Shirley's whole tone and demeanour was so different with Ellie T and Fleur than it was with Tyler and Tony... And why does she insist on standing up and dancing along with certain celebrities? She stands up a lot to see footwork, but she was definitely stood up for nearly every fast dance tonight. I thought Matt was all over the place. He looked like a drunk uncle at a wedding. He didn’t have a clue what he was doing, but I feel like the judges were too nice to him. Tyler and Ellie S were definitely under scored, and Kim too actually. Molly was the best dance of the night for me. Also, I literally cannot take Tess anymore, she’s just such an odd person. She’s very wooden and says the most patronising things sometimes, her and Claudia need replacing. I think Matt could be in trouble tomorrow, he gives off such a weird vibe and I don’t think the audience will connect with him, but it just depends on how many Bros fans are voting.

Tess and to an extent Claudia have been there so long that a replacement might be tricky. I'd opt for Rylan and AJ Odudu personally.

Shirley's whole tone and demeanour was so different with Ellie T and Fleur than it was with Tyler and Tony... And why does she insist on standing up and dancing along with certain celebrities? This! Her obvious tone shift between different celebs is so unprofessional. Every year she has a selection of women she is brutal to and gives a rundown of everything they did wrong with little encouragement. Older women tend to get praised even when they aren’t great. And her ogling at ‘attractive’ men even when they’re bad is just awful. Thought the difference in her words and tone when complimenting Will’s appearance vs how she did with Fleur this week spoke wonders.

I'm all for her critiquing the celebrities but she had a face like thunder when commenting on Fleur's dance whilst she was beaming with pride for Tony.

I totally agree that Tess and Claudia should go. They should get two ex-professional dancers to take over 🤞

Matt Goss from Bros can't dance.
The back of head shots have gone already. Nikki Parsons must read TB!
First time I've ever heard the Ariana Grande lines in Rain on Me.

So I’ve always thought she’s a bit more harsh to people who she can see potential in and want them to get better. She knows Tony isn’t gonna be in the running to win so she’s praising what he can do well, but Kim has a chance so she wants to give her the help she needs to reach her potential.

An enjoyable show last night.
Well done with the costumes.
Matt Goss needs to ditch the hat.
I thought several celebrities improved dramatically from last week- clear being the first show the nerves got the better of them.
Although she was spot on with regards to foot placement, demonstrations, etc I though that (unusually) Shirley was all over the place last night.

I knew Matt would be in the bottom 2, I just don't see people connecting with him, he's very odd. If one other judge voted to save Kaye then Shirley's vote would have saved her and Matt would be gone. I thought they were gonna get rid of him tbh.

Not everyone in the Strictly audience on 'Sunday' night was a Robbie Williams fan. After such an awful performance, I don't blame this poor chap for staying in his seat and hiding his face.
