Wonder if a bill poster person is running around the West End and tube stations putting Olivier winner posters onto the adverts for the winning shows. Most of them have closed! |

Sharon is a legend in her fourth nom, AMAZED by her win, so deserved!
Company winning two predictable but very well deserved acting awards were everything!
Sad that Adrienne had to see her male co-star winning even though she is the real star of the show.
Come From Away winning is a good thing, especially when they basically lost everything to DEH at the Tony's. SIX should've won Music tho.
The performances from Rosalie, Sharon, Adrienne and SIX were amazing, those women rocked!
The play awards went also predictable, but clearly the right choice.

Also, funny that I friend of mine went to London for 6 days and asked me ''what should I see?'' and I said Company, Caroline or Change and Book of Mormon and now he has seen 3/4 of the winners tonight LOL

Wow that’s a shocker. I saw Tina on Tuesday and thought he was truly dreadful. Couldn’t understand a word he said or sang. Glad to see Kobna win. He was excellent both times I saw ‘Tina’ and made a really menacing Ike. He did have a strong accent (as Ike did) so I guess that’s why you couldn’t understand him. Didn't get menacing or charismatic when I went so couldn't understand why Tina would stay with him let alone marry him. Even if Ike did have a strong accent it's a show so the audience needs to be able to hear what a character is saying/singing. Enunciation problems rather than understanding an accent. |

I think if the BBC wanted it, it'd be on BBC Four, I doubt BBC Two would want it either given how atrocious the ratings were for the ITV highlights in primetime, same with BBC One. Theatre will always be a niche pastime and will never attract a big audience and surprised ITV even do this, as live filming or quickly edited is very expensive. I have never been to any awards ceremony, or watch anything on television, internet or radio, don’t want to come across as snooty as I am certainly not, but the theatre I want to remember is just that in a theatre, not on some arena stage not designed for the production and a sound rig designed for multiple shows. Yes I check who won what out of curiosity and it might nudge me to see something again. Why do you think that? I doubt they incurred much. Its a SOLT production. |

I haven't watched it yet, but I kept up on twitter. The only one I'm slightly disappointed for is Marianne Elliott not getting a directing one, but I also can't argue with Daldry winning so...
I know lots of people thought Rosalie was a sure thing, but that best actress category was TOUGH and honestly, I wouldn't have been sad about any of them winning. Sharon however gave an incredible performance in a difficult piece of work and sang the roof off, so fair play to her she deserved it (are we going to see her back again next year for Death of a Salesman? probably).
Johnny Bailey of course deserved it, Miss Patti was a sure thing but also a deserved win.
Really thrilled for the Home I'm Darling team, that play was a labour of love (pun intended #workingmum Tamara) and clearly meant a lot to the two of them. Yes I'm a bit salty that my girl Sue Brown didn't win, but we can all bow down to the brilliance that is Monica Dolan so it's ok.

Just watched the Come From Away performance and it hasn't changed my mind about not wanting to see it. Looks very cheesy and hokey. YOU ARE SOOOOO MISTAKEN I'll take your word for it.  |

Wasn't it only 2 years ago ITV was showing the awards at prime time, not tucked away in this graveyard slot?... It did very badly in primetime so no surprise it got moved. It's lucky it's still on ITV at all!

Thought Manford wasn't a bad host. Apart from the woeful misjudgment of the In Memoriam section (admittedly a big one), the televised production was fine. Would have liked less of the intro and more of the categories (supporting actors etc). Awards wise it was a good spread and all were deserving.

Interesting, isn't it. We hear reports of how many millions theatres are raking in in sales, and we probably move in circles and read certain media where theatre is very important and has vast cultural capital. But when contextualise with the UK population as a whole, one realises our interest really is soberingly "niche"  |

I knew Sharon would sneak in and steal that award, Rosalie and Adrienne were robbed however Sharon was brilliant in the show so you can't be too mad at it.
For me Sharon's performance was on a whole other level to Rosalie.
Totally agree. Many people could have played Rosalies role... only someone of Sharon’s talent could play her role. This is no fault of Rosalies- her character was hardly a tour de force role- she had to mainly react to the other characters. |

Some thoughts. Quite. Right. Too.  Also Patti (looking gorgeous btw) & Jonny B were absolutely well deserved. Strangely I've had dreams like this though. No wonder La LuPone looks like the cat who got the cream.  Also: I love it when Beverley Knight pulls out the 'fro. Adrienne Warren must be fuming this morning. Patti's son is a real cutie pie. Dame Katherine Parkinson was robbed. As you were. |

Unsurprisingly this got no mention or coverage on Lorraine on ITV in the “Showbiz” section 12 hours later. Perhaps if they’d bothered to mention this once or twice before the awards and then followed it up today they might have gained some interest and bigger traction. Broadcasting just the awards proper and then disregarding it immediately afterwards seems counterproductive to me. |

Every single woman in the Best Actress (play) category did a great job, but no one was robbed, because the rightful winner did receive the award, and if I have to make my case with my fists in the car park under the National, then so be it, I'm seeing Downstate in a couple of weeks and could probably pencil in a few bouts of fisticuffs beforehand. |

Unless you find yourself engaged and mentally stimulated by the “my fiancé is selling herself for cash”-type content of Jeremy Kyle or the best way to slice your toast discussions of Aemonn Holmes etc that is. |

I feel like you've got a stereotypical idea of ITV's output that is ignoring everything that doesn't fit into your narrow idea of anti-intellectual/culturally destitute, whether on purpose to make an exaggerated point or accidentally because you're genuinely unaware, but ITV are just as likely to churn out a prestige drama as the BBC, and the BBC has its fair share of unscripted fluff and/or petty squabbling too. (Hell, maybe Jeremy Kyle should take over Newsnight for a bit...)

I for one would watch Newsnight if Jezza Kyle took over.
And yes, there's a fairly outdated notion that 'ITV' is a synonym for 'lesser quality' when in fact they have more than their fair share of quality drama (yes I record them to skip the ads but so what) and comedy outputs. Not to mention quality documentaries and the like.
