Every single woman in the Best Actress (play) category did a great job, but no one was robbed, because the rightful winner did receive the award, and if I have to make my case with my fists in the car park under the National, then so be it, I'm seeing Downstate in a couple of weeks and could probably pencil in a few bouts of fisticuffs beforehand.  Piffle. I'll fight dirty if necessary, I don't care. And the most important thing really is that I have "right" on my side because . . . well I always do. 'nuff said.  |

The Olivier Awards are intelligent and/or culturally rich...? Trying to be productive here. Compared to the rest of the dirge ITV usually outputs, yes. Unless you find yourself engaged and mentally stimulated by the “my fiancé is selling herself for cash”-type content of Jeremy Kyle or the best way to slice your toast discussions of Aemonn Holmes etc that is. Brought back memories: we didn’t make it onto the Jeremy Kyle show at the time, but my fiancée used to sell herself for a bag of mini cheddars and an Um Bongo just before church. And I could slice toasted sourdough with a rusty penknife. Still, at least we ate. Enjoyed the Oliviers, despite the glitches and cuts that have been mentioned, and it being stuck at the sphinctal end of the schedules - although I get that. I was only mildly intrigued by “Six” previously but I’m now keen to see it: but perhaps not one of the “sing-along performances”. And Sharon D Clarke’s performance: wow: as ever! A well-deserved win for her. |

I have to say that I was surprised it wasn't live somewhere on the TV. With BBC ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 all having multitudes of channels these days I was hoping this niche might have been catered for. Mind you on reflection, I've worked in Central London for over 20 years and many born and bred Londoners I've worked with have no idea where the National Theatre is. Usually when you say that grey building at the South End of Waterloo Bridge that looks like a car park, they often know it by sight ! I knew I was different but wasn't aware I was quite so niche !  |

Its fine to have an opinion but too many people on here are far too quick to post bile and anger aimed at specific posters when that said someone posts an opinion they dont agree with. We appear to have lost the art of debate in the social media age. |

I feel like you've got a stereotypical idea of ITV's output that is ignoring everything that doesn't fit into your narrow idea of anti-intellectual/culturally destitute, whether on purpose to make an exaggerated point or accidentally because you're genuinely unaware, but ITV are just as likely to churn out a prestige drama as the BBC, and the BBC has its fair share of unscripted fluff and/or petty squabbling too. (Hell, maybe Jeremy Kyle should take over Newsnight for a bit...)
EXACTLY. Looking down one's nose at ITV, is an argument as stale as "my mummy wouldn't allow me to watch Tiswas!"

I don't know how popular an opinion this is, but I would also of loved to see Home, I'm Darling take Costume Design too. Because not just Katharine's outfits, but also Siobhan Harrison's were beautiful, and they stood out to me. It would of been lovely to see those recognised.

I thought Rosalie totally over-egged that performance last night. I saw the show twice and neither time did she perform Being Alive like that. Presumably she was told to go ‘bigger’ for the RAH but that’s not necessarily right for tv. It all looked a bit cliched and, dare I say, desperate.

Best Actress in a Musical was by far the strongest catagory of the year and any which way it went, the actress would of been deserving or at least those who weren't happy would of understood why that specific person would of won. I was in the Rosalie camp but watching Adrienne and Sharon's performances I was like damn, OK anyone can win. But I knew Sharon would win, I had that feeling a few weeks ago that it just seemed obvious so I wasn't surprised not dissapointed, as she was brilliant and the best part of that show, by a mile.
