£29.50 for front row stalls in Bristol is a steal. Count me in! (Although I'd recommend no-one booking row B behind me; I'm quite a sizeable unit!). 😀 Prepair for a very stiff neck!

Someone I know on social media was at the performance last night and says it will be back in London as a new set has been commissioned (I don't know how she knows this, and I know it's very vague!). The set they currently used was manufactured in holland...Karl did all the tv work behind the set..it took about 5 hours...

Second visit really sent home how good the score is...just that little familiarity make all the difference. ..

I've been struggling with what I think of the ending, but I'm not sure how I would change it without the show becoming horribly twee. I think I might prefer it if she didn't sleep with him at the end, with the spell instead being broken by him turning down sex (maybe because she's drunk or he feels like he's rushing her because he's had so many days to get to know her whereas she's only had one). That might then be the opportunity for a quiet moment of reflection song. So he promises to see her the next day and is woken up by a phone call from her instead of the usual wake up call set by her. But I really don't know if you could get something like that to work. Anyway, I think the show just about gets away with it as it is. I certainly don't see Rita as weak. And I think some of the faults in the story are cleverly acknowledged by Playing Nancy. I've been reading the mixed reviews on here and was wondering how perceptions split along gender lines. I'm actually getting the feeling that in general* it's men who are finding it sexist and also tend not to "get" Playing Nancy. I'd like to put this to the test (not that I actually know what I would do with this information once acquired, but humour me!) So a quick poll: (i) Are you male or female? (ii) What are your feelings on Playing Nancy? (iii) Do you think the ending is sexist? *Note I am very much generalising here, hence the question. Male Dont think id get in those jeans No

jampot . You can see the stage very well from the stalls if you're not too far on the side. Otherwise you'll miss a small part of the stage, I think. You're not too far back so you can still see the facial expressions Anyone who has seen the show more often than I have, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Wow what a lovely voice, I love your version of 'Playing Nancy' it's definitely one of the breakaway songs from the show, can imagine this song being an solid audition piece for a female part. Would love to hear what Georgina could of done with Carlyss songs...

Still better than me @jeanhunt. I don't have a clue how to do them, although I ask people to use them. Haha. I just have to avoid saying anything spoilerish. I am yet to learn. Is there a tutorial somewhere?

The more 'Americanized' shows in the West End the better for me. Always going to get a diff of opinion about productions.Thats healthy. We can't all be the same. As a newbie here,it amazes me how some people pick out things as bad parts that I loved in a show etc.I suppose its a bit like wine or art. So personal etc. I saw the show 3 times. First time I wasnt familiar with the music and it didnt grab me. To be expected. Loved the show however.. How one time watchers expect each song to fit in and have them toe tapping along on a first visit is beyond me. My second visit musicaly was a revelation and the songs were perfect...No improvement than before but I knew them... Simples...When I buy a cd by a fav artist its rare that I am blown away on a first listen...A few listens later and bang! This is one of the best productions ive seen in a long time. I admit Im a novice on these boards. Maybe need my wings clipped and be a bit more cyinical. I hope this runs and runs. It was full of snow but melted my heart. The sex is in the hog....

May of already come up...But i have often seen shows when the couple in front of me continuely talk throughout the show.. their heads coming together for each convo which completely cuts off your sight line each time. What gets me is i am so aware of the people behind me that i DONT do this etc and make a point not to. Guys in front...not a clue...Banging their heads together loving the show...Grrrr I do hope you tap these people and tell them to stop...I do!! Im far too nice sadly...

Im sure those comments are not new comments since the press night ...more of a rehash of the original agenda of where they are hoping to go with the production...

Quentin Letts has reminded me once again why I never judge a show based on his opinion. Most of the time he seems to watching a completely different show than me. Sounds like a complete numpty. Must feel rather foolish with the glowing reviews all around him. Yes, he is entitled to his opinion. But sounds so detached on all levels with this. A REAL Phil Connors within the arts world...

Also, are there people here who liked this but disliked Matilda? Yes, I really didn't enjoy Matilda, I saw it once, and that was more than enough however I absolutely love Groundhog Day and have already seen it more than once. 2 very different shows of which i enjoyed both immensely... i have seen groundhog 3 times so far...
