I watched the trailer for the Kenwright Sound of Music tour earlier and whilst it hasn’t something that I have rushed to see before (having only seen the Palladium version) the Kenwright version is something I’d quite like to seem come back. Doesn’t look to fancy, so hopefully an economical venture.

Harlequin said in week 1 they played a male lead in a musical. As people seem convinced it is Gabrielle, can you please explain how this clue can be justified/what it hints to in relation to Gabrielle as I can’t work it out.

Sausage sounds like Sheridan Smith to me Was thinking the same thing. I thought so by the voice and the truth/lie clue confirmed it in my mind. Didn’t really understand the clues in the intro clip.

Picking up on names mentioned: Jessie Buckley, Iwan Rheon and Bill Bailey would be a great leading cast in my opinion.

Nancy's young, vibrant and a bit rough around the edges - plus she's from London. If that role goes to Idina Menzel, there's something seriously wrong with the casting process!! So many of the names mentioned here are the same old, same old. I really hope we don't see Hope Fletcher, a Strallen or Sheridan Smith here. There are plenty of young actresses who could give Nancy the outspoken but heartfelt hardness and sincerity she should have. I agree would be nice to have another ‘Clare Halse scenario’ - take another fantastic actress from the ensemble and make them a star.

Lucie Jones I can imagine being a good Nancy. Likewise Rachel John, Cassidy Janson and Rachel Tucker (would be fitting in the case of the latter) could sing and act this fantastically, but they may all be outside the casting bracket for this now. Echo the vote for Alex Young too.

I can imagine Carrie playing Nancy, could happen with Cameron I guess depending on timings and the success of Cinderella

Blob has to be Lennie Henry! I think Bush Baby might be Matt Lucas, he dropped a “Baked Potato” in the clues, and used to wear a romper suit as “he’s a baby” George Dawes in Shooting Stars. Really surprised at the reveal though, they’ve got some good bookings this year. Was it Harlequin who said she’d played the male lead in a musical? That’s got me really puzzled. The only thing I could think of is Rosalie Craig but I doubt she’s well known enough for this show... anyone got any ideas? I thought they meant an actress playing a man - reverse of Michael Ball in Hairspray etc. but can’t think of scenarios where that occurs.

I hate to reply to myself, but I just read something really interesting about the approach to taking two doses. If you had two parents in their 80s and two doses of the vaccine now, would you want to give them both to one of them (three weeks apart), so one of them is 'fully protected', or give both one dose, so they are both partially protected from infection, and both 'fully protected' from becoming ill enough to be hospitalised. Just my initial reaction, but does that approach not need to assume that anybody of an ‘elderly age’ would shield and not go outside at all - that way the none vaccinated individual remains protected, or otherwise the non vaccinated person remains home indefinitely whilst the vaccinated person goes to do the shopping etc. The more ethical question that did come to mind was how would it be determined which individual of a pair would be vaccinated assuming there is no significant difference in the vulnerability of the two individuals - would it rely on randomness?

Beyond getting the numbers down, this really still is a money over safety response in my mind. From a H&S view, it would be better to keep the upper circle open and cut seats across all three tiers. This has done nothing to benefit anybody in the dress or stalls it seems (unless they are cutting seats there too, in which case I was not aware of this). Entirely seems like bending the rules for financial purposes to meet the requirements without doing anything meaningful.

On an Oliver tangent, I’d like to see Jessie Buckley finally have a crack it at. She can definitely sing and her acting has come far since the I’d do anything days

www.theatreroyal.co.uk/whats-on/the-drifters-girlLooks like the Newcastle run is re-scheduled to next year. The description there still describes it as prior to the West End, but no details yet on whether West End is postponed too as both the official website (https://www.thedriftersgirl.com/tickets) and Nimax (https://ticketing.nimaxtheatres.com/tickets/series/GATDG01M) give impression it's still opening October 2020.
