Going with my theatre buddy Warren, to the preview Matinee on Sat 23 April. Will be going bind, don’t know a note of the score and haven’t read the synopsis or reviews from previous productions – I have never heard of this!! Looking forward to enjoying the venue pre-show for the 1st time (OK so a week-day matinee of ‘Carrie’ was hardly a scum or a large queue but still) Will see you there!! Am going to the same performance and i am in the exact same boat!!! Snap. Sounds like that show will be an official TheatreBoard social

Would kind of like to see this, but it doesn't fit in to a pre-planned London trip and i don't quite want to see it enough to make a special trip for it. Ultimately glad that they have decided to introduce reserved seating, though I did quite like watching the disappointment of groups arriving at the last minute and realizing they had to sit separately. At Grey Gardens a group of five arrived about three minutes before it started and I thought one of them was going to literally explode when they were told that they couldn't do anything about arranging for them to sit together. She made a right show of herself at the top of her voice, kinda fitting for the show, lol. That will be a loss, the amusement of people coming to an unreserved seating show a couple of minutes before it begins expecting special treatment

Just booked for the first preview matinee, and am happy with the reserved seating now. It's such a chore queuing for a good seat when you're a seat snob like myself, also means I can spend more time with my mother doing something fun before theatre than having to arrive at the venue an hour plus before show time to just wait around in a queue.
So long as this doesn't lead to tiered pricing then I wholly welcome the continuation of reserved seating at the Southwark Playhouse.

I want to go and see this because I have never seen it, but I'd be going in Bristol. Every time I check on the ticket situation there are loads of seats remaining, which is a shame for any show, let alone a one nighter.

I have a spare slot for my April visit to London, and am debating whether to see this or CURIOUS INCIDENT. Any opinions? I don't think Curious Incident will be going anywhere for a while. With the current trend of new musicals not lasting that long these days I'd always plump for the musical.

So, was at the press launch last night.
What can I say? This seriously looks terrific.
Jade Ewen and Dean John-Wilson duetted on "A Whole New World" and the chemistry between them is already there - and rehearsals haven't even started yet.
DJW also gave us "Proud of Your Boy," dealt with an unexpected change of lighting angle without flinching and showed that he has the fullest voice out there.
Trevor Dion Nicholas wrapped it up with a personally tailored "Friend Like Me" in a "Blues" style. Different and full of something very special.
We also saw a short clip of the Broadway carpet flight - and it's unlike any magic effect I've ever seen. If it gets this cynic gasping, it must be good.
The statistics on the show are amazing - 370 costumes and 108 costume changes in a minute, for example, and they are sparing nothing for London. TDN is even bringing his whole family to live here for his run, dedication.
Hopefully they'll release video and photos later today, too, but all I can say is, those who got those early-run tickets at great prices could well be patting themselves on the back about now.
Annoyingly, no video, but a full report and studio shot publicity photos now on my blog at bit.ly/1nxyYjw if anyone is interested.
I'm so excited!!! Can you hide it?

Out of this evenings performance. I previously caught the show on the second preview and I enjoyed it much more tonight. Sheridan has improved leaps and bounds imo and whilst People still sounds off due to not being Babs she ends the song strongly, really giving it her old at big end notes. Also got interviewed after the show, so watch out for the audience reaction trailer and my fangirling review may be featured. I could be the greatest star. I agree ger voice was much stronger that night. Sad that she didn't touch my knee this time while wearing her pantalooons! Stop talking about the pantaloons!!!

I went in early Jan. I really didn't like it. I adore the show but this production felt really weak and flat. The audience was pretty empty which didn't help. The whole show just dragged for me. I did get a £10 ticket in the gods and after asking politely at the box office I was upgraded to dress circle. So not all bad. Maybe give it another chance with a different cast

Hi I'm new to the forum after being introduced by my real life friend Mr Wallacio. I live in London and go to the theatre almost once a week. I saw 47 productions last year and am on track for a similar amount this year. I'm a fan of day seats, todaytix lottery and going to a theatre at 7.15pm and picking up premium tickets for bargain prices. Looking forward to exploring the board and chatting to you. Name checked! Name checked! Was trying to get The Hoff to join back when we were on the site that shan't be named, but sadly when that broke I was forced to relay all the exciting banter we were having. Glad to have you on board Hoff, now there's no escaping each other.

I believe there was clapping in Bath between the end of Emma's bit and the duet ending to Mountains. I felt it was out of place as the cast hadn't stopped in anticipation of applause. Whilst I agree she probably deserves some applause, it would feel odd to me applauding at that point when the song hasn't really reached a conclusion.

How irritating. I'm not a massive fan of G&D really, and I was expecting a weak transfer, but I must admit they've pulled out an impressive looking cast. Can't guarantee I'll return again, but I did see the Savoy production from the gods, so finances depending I may give it another go with a better view at the Phoenix.

I think it's great that you love and passionate about Newsies and might joke with someone about liking something I don't, but I would never criticise someone decision or be nasty about someone's passion. I understand it and get it why someone loves a certain show. Christ, so many people think I am weird because I love my theatre.....period. But then again that's there problem and not mine. Yet then there are those who think Thriller Live is the best thing ever created

I was aware the post was edited as I read the original which had then been altered by the time I had made my reply.
As a point of information, edits made can't be seen if viewing on the mobile site which is how I often view this forum, so for me I was unaware who had edited the post, be it a moderator or the original poster, I just knew it had been altered (but as I say, only because I happened to arrive here before the language was cleaned up).

The use of smashed unattractive people The use of smashed unattractive people? What does this mean? I'm yet to see the show so am not in a position to determine if there is indeed "The use of smashed unattractive people". I appreciate that you're entitled to your opinion however even if there is "The use of smashed unattractive people" as you state, isn't that comment overly harsh? Not as harsh as the term 'smashed crabs' which the poster used twice before editing it to become 'smashed unattractive people'. The poster is troll out to make trouble on this board. All comments made have been unnecessarily harsh.

Again with the unnecessary comments regarding the cast.
Go and troll elsewhere, this is a happy environment.

What merchandise are they selling at the house party? I hope there are magnets, my Mother loves a show magnet. She bought a larger fridge solely to store her growing collection of show magnets.

What like a Strawberry or something? The crafty beggars! Oh yes I know there's sometimes a curve ball, a Mint Choc Chip or God forbid a Lemon & Ginger but these wre best ignored. Just take them back a vanilla and say that's all they had Imagine holloring that to the back of the stalls - "clotted cream and stem ginger or cappuccino?"

If you go to the box office on the day I'm sure they'd happily give you a best available for £25. Front row is sold in advance, can't comment on price if it's top price or slightly reduced though.
Emma has two big solos and a few parts in other songs.

As long as you're shyly asking for a spoon, and not smugly trying to make the usher feel like a fool by brandishing your ice-cream and crooning "you forgot to give me a spooooon". 'Cos if it's the latter, you - and the audience members I've seen act this way - deserve to feel daft. No that's not me. That's the person who gets to the front of the queue, asks what flavours they have, then shouts this information to their pal at the back of the stalls "THEY'VE GOT CHOCOLATE OR VANILLA!!!" then a faint voice comes back "chocolate!"If I were going to send anyone to Flim Flam's refreshment concession at our party I'd make damned sure they knew what flavour I wanted before they got there. But sometimes you get some different flavours. The rare times I get ice cream it's for my mother and she'll eat anything so I just do a quick eeny meeny a few customers before me.

Never quite see the point of leaving a show in the interval unless I am taken ill.
The comment about the girls not being 'fit' is unnecessary, this isn't a show shouting 'come look at these flawless size zero beauties in the nude', the vast majotity of females in the world don't look like that. The whole scene in the art gallery points that out.

I'll wait for more reviews further into the run before I make my decision on seeing this. Luckily the Bristol dates are in July, so plenty of time for them to improve in their roles.

Amazon have updated the price of the cast recording, a much more reasonable £10.99 (other retailers are of course available, same on Dress Circle). Now I am happy to buy it.

Glad this is coming to London so I get a chance to see it.
Whilst it's frustrating when prices increase a lot in price when they reach the West End I am ok for this show as my journey to and from London and ticket for this show would still be cheaper than had I gone to Sheffield to see it.
I will of course be holding out for offers though before locking a date a date in for this.

I don't think it will go to the Dominion, that is a huge theatre! I'm gonna throw out a curve ball prediction and say that, and it pains me to say as I love the show, I think it will go to somewhere like the Aldwych Theatre. Beautiful has been trailing in buisness recently, and I fear that despite the fact I loved the show, I can't see it making it through this year too. My prediction is for Beautiful to close around October/November for this to come in. If it goes to Aldwych then I'd best see Beautiful this year. Mother has been wanting to go and I keep putting it off with other shows. May have to finally submit and take her.
