Soppy and convenient as the first film, but very enjoyable. A fitting ending too I'd say. I wasn't sure what year it's supposed to be? I read online 1927 but that would make Sybie only 7 and she looked far older than that. Unless of course they've taken some liberties with the children's ages. I think they've probably taken some liberties with the ages - I thought Marigold also looked a bit older than she should have been at that point. Whilst talking to Jack Barber, Mary mentioned that Matthew's accident happened seven years earlier, which would put the film in summer 1928! But with Downton, unless it's referencing something that actually happened (titanic and the war) I tend to take the date as a bit fast and loose

I'm just amazed they got as far as they did with borderline copyright infringement Iirc they were able to strike a deal with Netflix in order to be able to record the album.

Not keen on the sound of this! But that London set was quite noisy last time I saw the show... so perhaps an update is due. And the theatre could definitely do with a refurb - the ladies up in the grand circle are horribly tight!

I'm also convinced Sir Ian McKellen made an impromptu appearance in the baracade scene wearing an eyepatch! He did!

I was also at Wednesday's performance of Hamlet (sadly in seats and not in the groundlings as my mum really didn't fancy standing for three hours) and absolutely loved it! It was my fourth production of Hamlet, having previously seen the RSC prod with Paapa Essiedu, the Almeida prod with Andrew Scott and the Kenneth Branagh/Tom Hiddleston vanity project at RADA (the less said about that last one, the better) and I think that this one might have pipped the Almeida to being my favourite - and that's not just my preference for David Oakes speaking! I loved that this was more traditionally staged, and as others have said, the costume design is brilliant. I won't be forgetting the Ghost of Old Hamlet in his shroud for a while! I may be very bias, but I thought that David Oakes was an incredible Hamlet, and walked that fine line between hamming up Hamlet's pretence of madness too much and just the right amount. I also really enjoyed Richard Standing's turn as Claudius, a role that I have previously found to be quite dull. Shoutouts also go out to Serena Manteghi as Ophelia and Anthony Bunsee as Player King. If York wasn't so far away from where I live I would definitely consider making a return visit to see Hamlet again, and try to fit in the other plays as well as I didn't get the chance.

Glad to see we'll be getting a new Raoul! Could never warm to Jeremy's Raoul any of the times I saw him. Have heard wonderful things about Danny though, so I'm quite excited!

While I admire the commitment it really is not safe and should be strongly discouraged. The Wicked news twitter (which i believe is a quite popular account with the Wicked fan community?) was tweeting out trying to discourage people as it's not safe. A girl replied that there were a few of them in the queue. I don't know why anyone would camp out, but then again I've only queued for dayseats a handful of times.

Crikey! Is it a season one though? With such a short run, it probably doesn't make sense to do ones for individual plays. I believe the programmes are for the whole season

Travelling up to see Hamlet in a month's time. Wasn't intending on seeing another production of Hamlet (I saw 3 within a space of a year in 2016/17) but I could hardly miss an opportunity to see David Oakes in the role! And the costumes look absolutely incredible!

This show looks absolutely atrocious. I am hoping that it is a case of it being so bad that it’s so good. It was obviously made to tour and visit the places in the country where this low level crap will appeal; Bradford, Sunderland, Southend; the real classy places of these British Isles. Hugs and kisses from Southend.. Southend represent! To be fair, I can think of quite a few people I know who would enjoy it....

Valjean's muscles could definitely rouse a tear or two. They certainly could! But I'm not sure if that's why they were crying. They didn't return after the interval though....

Was at Les Mis tonight to see it one last time before the big change and something happened that i’ve Never experienced in all my years of theatregoing - a show stop! The stage right barricade got stuck halfway on stage during Dog Eat Dog... must have taken them about two minutes to fix. It was quite exciting! Also the teen next to me started crying during the Runaway Cart, which was also a new experience!

Finally got to see this last night and was utterly blown away! I've always enjoyed Company but this production was something else entirely. I felt that it worked so much better with Bobbie instead of Bobby.

It's interesting to see the website now says: "Fiddler on the Roof is now SOLD OUT. To be kept informed of any additional performances or a transfer..." then goes on to list a link. It's exciting news if it does transfer, especially as one of our fellow members did say it was expected to transfer to the Playhouse Theatre! From what I've heard, it won't be at the Playhouse! It will be nearby though.

Saw David Thaxton as the Phantom last month on Christmas Eve and enjoyed his performance. Whilst he doesn't exactly bring anything new to the role acting-wise, he's one of the best I've seen vocally! Finally got to see Amy Manford as Christine and thought that her singing was beautiful, although she played the character a little too childlike for my tastes. It was my third time seeing Jeremy as Raoul, and I still don't like his portrayal - there's not much personality there and in the odd moments there are, it's quite unpleasant. I do hope that we'll get a full run from David at some point as I'd like to see how he'd develop in the role.
I think perhaps my favourite part of that show were the bows because they were all decked out in Christmassy accessories, which was absolutely adorable!

I think that it's a frightful shame that we're losing the revolve! Having seen both iterations, and whilst there are some moments in the 25th staging I enjoy, I just find it to be lacking without the revolve and I think one moment really shows that: {Spoiler - click to view} The revolve turning to reveal Enjolras' body on the barricade as the music swells is far more powerful than the cart he's sans revolve.

There's a production of Bonnie and Clyde in Southend at the end of March! Many thanks. That's exactly the sort of show I like to see. Two front row seats already booked for the Saturday matinee. You're welcome! I've just seen that another local group are doing Side Show at the start of May at the same theatre!

I am so excited for this to transfer. I saw it on Broadway (mostly because of Sutton Foster and Colin Donnell) and absolutely fell in love with it. I've been hoping that it would transfer so I could see it again. I wonder who they'll cast?

Anyone else see twitter today? Andy Serkis' company, Imaginarium, filmed the entire show in Mocap. I hope they'll release the finished project at some point

Saw this at the barbican screening before general release with a post-show talk/Q&A with Rupert Everrett. Loved the film and gthe way the narration of the Happy Prince was interwoven and hearing Rupert talk about the journey this film had to get to be made was wonderful.
Thought the cinematography in this was stunning! Can't wait to get this on dvd when the time comes

I was also there last night and had such a brilliant time! I forever regretted not being able to see it at the National so I'm so glad I got to hear that score with such an incredible cast! I now get why so many of my friends loved the show so much. As a newcomer to the show, I only struggled a little bit with the plot at times, which I guess is to be expected with a concert performance as opposed to a fully staged one. I think you can watch this at NT archive. It was a great production Oooh really? I might have to look into that! Thanks for the tip
