It's going to be a traverse layout for this, looking at the seating plan. Row K which is usually half-way back in the stalls becomes the front row for one of the two banks of seating. The usual balconies and benches will overlook either side of the stage so could have a much improved view. It looks like there's going to be a short row of on-stage seating on either side too.

Ah, so this is happening then. I posted a while back that there was this random article about it coming over here in Jan ages ago but i didn't know if it was legit or not.
I have to say i've only heard one song from this show, which was Let It Sing performed at a concert, but i loved it.
It's also joining the list of random shows that are coming over here next year that nobody really thought would make it.

Wow this is exciting. 3 Jeanine Tesori shows in the space of 12 months! I meant that I'd see: Violet, Fun Home and Caroline or Change. But haven't Shrek and Thoroughly Modern Millie also been on tour this year. Pretty good 12 months for Tesori!

Is this the Tony-winning musical they promised a while ago?

1) Very pleased about this and I’ll definitely be buying a ticket. 2) The line width of each letter in the poster seems to be slightly different, and don’t appear to be part of the same font. Now that I’ve spotted it, I can’t unsee it.

Isn't this the show that Sutton Foster starred in after her turn in Shrek?

Isn't this the show that Sutton Foster starred in after her turn in Shrek? She did, it didn't directly follow though, she did Anything Goes in between.

She did it after 'Anything Goes'. It was the last of her Tony nominations so far.

Isn't this the show that Sutton Foster starred in after her turn in Shrek? Yes but she did things in between (including a Tony Award for Anything Goes). Shrek was 2008-10 and Violet wasn't until 2014.

Way after her turn in Shrek. And in the original production, Foster's role was created by Lauren Ward, who will be appearing in another Jeanine Tesori musical just around the corner from the Charing Cross Theatre at the same time this is running.

I am so excited for this to transfer. I saw it on Broadway (mostly because of Sutton Foster and Colin Donnell) and absolutely fell in love with it. I've been hoping that it would transfer so I could see it again. I wonder who they'll cast?

Does anyone know how they are doing the in-the-round staging? Will it be a flat stage with seating around it? I can’t see how they would do it in this space.
Really want to see this. It has been on my must see list for a while.

I was about to book this but eek! It’s expensive and will the production values be any higher than Southwark Playhouse?
The stalls banquette seating (still desperately in need of a upholster no doubt) at 21 quid look a bargain. Handy for people who want to save and book in advance

will the production values will be any higher than Southwark Playhouse? They usually are a cut above, I find, and bear in mind this will go to Japan afterwards, so probably is pretty well funded. The banquette (post word for the benches) are OK, but only the end seat has any legroom. Also, we don't know quite how the seating in front will be elevated, so you may look down the side, perhaps? Banquette - a word I love and learnt through the genius of Victoria Wood

I've just got two tickets for total £40 instead of £77 if book with theatre. The offer is for performances from 14-26 Jan, it's clearly not 79% off though as the website suggests. The seating plan doesn't show it in the round but you can cross reference with the theatre's seating plan to check you're sat where you want to be!

It will be lovely to have this and Caroline, or Change playing virtually next door to each other!

And the cast of Caroline, or Change includes the actress who played Violet in the original production of the show at Playwrights Horizons in 1997.

Thanks for this, sf. I had no idea that Lauren Ward was the original Violet! Do we think that this will be the revised, one act version which played on Broadway?

That seems to be the only version currently available for rental - though of course that doesn't mean it's impossible we'll get another version of the show. See, for example, Southwark Playhouse's revival of The Rink, whose script and score did not exactly reflect the version currently offered by the licencing agent.

I would like to buy a front row seat for this show but from the map i can't figure out where it is. Is the stage in the middle of the stalls?

Yes it is. If you really want a front-row seat, I think the safest bet would be a seat in row A:
