I also think it looks way to basic... They could have used some projections at least... If you look at that bad quality iPhone video it looks like she's just waving her arms while singing. But if you listen to the audio it sounds like there are some sound effects that suggest there's more happening. Maybe we just can't see that because of the bad video quality. I love the glittery curtain though. But the moment that really made me laugh (and not in a good way) was when she took her hair clip out and just tossed it over her shoulder. I mean really? This looks so weird. Sven looks great. It's basically the hyena costume from the lion king but it looks pretty effective. And Olaf looks well... just like Olaf. I think it's better than someone in a costume. I guess it will be really successful, no matter what. Frozen has a massive fan base. My niece is just a little older than the film and she has been a fan forever. She's still wearing her hair like Elsa and she has that dress that she wears all the time. The fandom never seems to end for that movie...

That sounds a little like AirBerlin... They almost ruined my USA vacation in May. But they went bankrupt yesterday. Can't say I care... I just did a serious calculation because I just couldn't get the idea of attending the last show out of my head. I came up with way more than 1000€ for a weekend trip (with 3 shows, flights, Airbnb, transport and food), so that's a clear no go for me... Oh well. So I really hope it won't take too long to bring the show back to the uk. It will be easier for me to visit for a weekend and a lot cheaper.

It's a measure of how much I loved this show in London that I've googled tickets (gosh, lots of available seats for that last performance) and flights .... I did so too... But there's just no way. The cheapest flights have travel times of 24 hours in total for one way and I can't justify that (or the cost of direct flights and hotel)...

Awww man, that is so sad. They deserved a much longer run than this. I was hoping that they would hang on a little longer after Bill Murrays visit... Such a shame...
Well, is there a (very, very tiny) chance of Andy reprising the role in London if it comes back? He won the Olivier after all. So it would be a good promotion to start a long run of the show. If that happens I might have to move to London... ^^'

They're going to turn up the aircon system and perform the show on ice. I would actually pay to see this!

Apparently tomorrow is cancelled as well. But according to their Facebook page they have prepared a "surprise " for everyone who's affected. I guess they will do a little concert. At least that's better than nothing at all...

Oh so they did have the revolve in London already? I always thought they made it for the Broadway production. Thought I read that somewhere but must have imagined it then. Ooops... ^^ The cast did perform at Bryant Park today. And judging from their Instagram account, they also did "If I had my time again". Edit: Yep, they just uploaded that too.

That video is great. How did you find it? I'm not sure if they could tour with the turntable. It seems to malfunction quite a lot so dissembling and reassembling it on a weekly or monthly basis might be problematic. But I hope they will bring it to London if a transfer happens. I can't really imagine the show without it either. It was pretty awesome for the tilt-a-whirl alone.

The last time I wanted to leave was at Sister Act in Berlin.
Most Stage Entertainment shows I saw recently have been bad but this was the worst thing I ever saw.
Whoever translated it from the original was a complete idiot. I know they are adapting certain jokes so the regional audience gets them but this... well... I actually have no words. Also there are often foreigners in lead roles which is totally fine by me if I'm at least able to understand what they are saying. Which wasn't the case here, especially when it came to the singing parts. I guess the woman playing Dolores had no idea what she was saying or singing either. Her intonation was totally wrong and she didn't even pause for the funny bits - which weren't funny anyways, so no real problem there... ^^
The audience was mortified. At least ten people around me got up and left halfway through the first act. I wanted to leave at the interval but my friend wanted to stay. Not because she liked it but for the sake of the money we had spent... I envied everyone that got out of this mess. It was dreadful...
Well I'm seeing the Hunchback of Notre Dame on Friday in Berlin... Let's see how this goes... ^^*

Folks on Broadway World are always very negative... I actually don't like to read their boards but I still always do... Maybe I should stop. ^^
I'm glad Groundhog went up in grosses this week. I hope they will keep it up. But I don't know if transfering the following year would have made a difference. Isn't Frozen going to Broadway next season? That could easily be the next big hit. And I keep reading about The Bands Visit being a favourite. Since I've never heard about that before, I have no idea if it could be one...
What are the chances for Groundhog coming back to London? I don't think I'll have the chance to see it again in NYC, even if it runs for a year. But I really would love to.

Oh dear. I was so hoping for Andy to win, even if his chances were very small... This doesn't look good for Groudhog Day at all now. I hope they don't have to close too soon.

I like Waitress, but I find the Chris Fitzergarld song and scenes cringeworthy. I thought so too. His scenes and the first song seemed to go on and on forever. The audience went crazy over it though. Lots of laughing and cheering through it. Now I've grown accustomed to listen to it on the cast recording. The lyrics are quite funny. But it was just too much on stage. Despite that I loved the show. Sara Bareilles was great. And I have to admit I cried all the way from when she had the baby to the end... ^^* But this has happened while watching the movie too, so I kind of expected it.

Ok.. Spoilers as well... He definitely climbs up a ladder and then falls back to the stage. I thought it was a metaphor for him jumping off a high building or something. The scene was in it when I saw it, even with Andys knee brace. But it's not him climbing that ladder anyways so the brace isn't a problem there. I was extremely impressed with Andy. He barely had a limp and he was running around all the time. I don't know how much they slowed it down for him to manage with the brace but it didn't look much. He did a really good job!

Seeing this in NYC on Wednesday - excited! Lucky you! Have fun! Could you check if they have a souvenir brochure yet, please? They didn't have one when I saw it 3 weeks ago and I'm waiting for one to pop up on the playbillstore website but nothing has happened so far.

I'd forgotten the CD was released in May. Where did you order it from? I've just looked on Amazon & it says 1-4 weeks so I'm wondering if there's anywhere faster. I ordered mine last week on amazon. It said 2-4 weeks for delivery but I didn't mind as it is up on Apple Music and I've been listening to it on there since I saw the show. However last night I got an email that the cd will be delivered next Tuesday. So just go for it.

We were in New York two weeks ago and won the online lottery for Groundhog Day, Present Laughter and Kinky Boots. Unfortunately we won GHD and KB for the matinee on Wednesday after we had just found and bought cheap tickets for Waitress so we couldn't use them. At least we were able to see Present Laughter in the evening. We saw Groundhog Day the next day and used a lottery loser code so we got front row for 70$. Not too bad either.

Horrible experience at a Newsies screening today. At first everything was fine, everyone was well behaved and enjoying the show. But then, 20 minutes in a couple of kids came in. They looked like they were between 10-13 years old. They came in chatting loudly, then taking seats behind each other - god knows why - and continued to chat loudly or make jokes about what was going on on stage. I tried to glare at them which had absolutely no effect so I shushed them. As a reply I got told to f*** myself and watch the stupid "movie". Then they started kicking our seats and talked all the way through. So I went out to get an usher. He scolded them and told them to throw them out if they did not behave. Then he apologised to us and told us to call him again if they continued to make trouble. Of course they didn't stop. After minutes of talking, kicking and commenting they dropped their huge bowl of popcorn and proceeded to scoop it of the ground while cursing and mourning their popcorn. At that point the guy next to them was on his feet, probably to throw them out with his own hands or maybe just kick them... They then decided to leave but not without cursing and insulting everyone in the cinema on their way out. We saw them lingering in the lobby during the interval but thank god they did not come back. Jesus, I've never experienced something like that before. Such horribly behaved children...

So, obviously I'm speculating here, but what I gather is that they select a large number of losers first, then start narrowIng the list down somehow. I think they select some backup winners, like a wait list. Sometimes I've gotten my "Better luck next time" 2 hours to curtain - in those cases I assume I was on the backup list, but nobody forfeited their ticket. One time they actually called me to offer a forfeited lotto ticket AFTER they'd already sent me a rejection. Not so sure what happened there. I'm pretty sure that's how it works. When I was in London in December me and some friends did the lottery every day. There were several occasions where I got my notification exactly one hour later than my friends. I always suspected I got into the "next round" but lost in the end. I did post to twitter and it was the best thing to do as two guys saw my tweet and offered me their lottery tickets to Lazarus as they had other plans. So I ended up in the front row despite losing the lottery! One time all of us got the 25£ lottery loser offer for Lazarus and even though all 3 of us clicked on it immediately only one got through to actually buy a ticket. Me and a friend got an "offer not available" message right away.

It was pretty cold in the front row last night. But not freezing cold. I did not have to put on my coat but I placed it over my lap and legs and that was ok.
I loved the show. Ok, the story was weird but Michael c. Hall was amazing (have to admit I'm a huge fan) and the young girl was awesome as well. And of course the music was great. I really enjoyed it.

Hmm, I saw this a couple of weeks ago and it was packed.
I checked several dates on the official homepage (that leads to see tickets) and there are only few seats left for this weeks and next weeks performances. I wanted to take a friend just befor New Year's Eve and there are only a hand full of very expensive tickets left.
Ok, that's a holiday period but the next two weeks don't look as bad as many described it...

Did anybody who saw the matinee on November 5th take a photo of the cast list? I forgot, but I would love to know who I saw (especially the kids).
