I saw it two weeks ago and went to the Stagedoor after. That day almost all of the cast exited before James. The principals like Christian and Roxanne walked inside the barrier along the theatre. I don’t know if someone stopped them but they got some applause when they exited. The others crossed the street right at the Stagedoor but I saw some people call them and some of them came back to the line to chat. So it wouldn’t have been difficult to get to them even when standing in line. I think it was pretty well organised, same team and strategy as at Betrayal at the Pinter. The line moved pretty quickly and people respected the „either pic or autograph“ rule, unlike Betrayal where some people took ages...
It took me some time to get into the show. It wasn’t really what I had expected but I really started to enjoy it after the first 30 minutes or so. The cast was fantastic. I was really glad I caught this.

I feel the same about Miriam. When I first saw it, Grace was on. While she wasn’t the strongest singer I found her to be very sweet and I liked her a lot. Miriam is much stronger vocally but I felt shouted at a lot and I don’t like that. Sure, she’s a powerhouse but that was a little too much for me. I was surprised about Cassidy Janson. She was my least favourite Elphaba and I had never seen her in anything since so that was stuck in my head. I couldn’t believe how good she was in this and I really loved her. ^^

You can also use Apple Pay so just tap your phone / watch on a reader [if you've got AP setup on it]. Not sure it works if it's not a UK acount though It definitely does. I’m using it on my watch with a German credit card and never had problems.

I was at a recording of the Late Late Show with James Corden last year. While we were waiting outside they told us that this show they were about to record was special and we were asked to leave our phones in the car. We didn’t have a car so they literally confiscated our phones in exchange for a piece of paper. When the show finished they had two tables full of phones laid out and handed them back to people. Everybody could have just grabbed them and run... I would rather have had a pouch like that at the time.
What was that all for btw? For a „special performance“ of BTS... I wouldn’t have filmed that anyway...
If they ensured that it didn’t slow down the exit from the theatre I would agree to use it but I would not give up my smart watch. It’s monitoring some health data that is important and I always put it into theatre mode so it won’t light up anyway. So phone yes, watch, not so much...

Do they comp all of those tickets close to showtime or does it really stay that empty for the show? I’ve got a ticket for mid December. So far 32 other tickets have been sold for that performance. Do I have to stay put in my seat in the back row or will they allow me to get a little closer? 🙈

I did this on Broadway once for Hedwig. I explained to security and they let me go in and told me to report back once I was done. No idea if they would have searched for me if I didn’t. I did not risk it. ^^ I think if you ask nicely you won’t have a problem in London!

Went to see this on Broadway this evening and I do not get the hype at all. This is easily one of the most overrated things I've ever sat through. I don't think anything would convince me to go see this in London. 100% this! I saw the Toronto production in June and I felt the same. Everyone around me was sobbing but I didn’t get it. Maybe I’m too old for this (I’m not that old but school was a couple of years ago... 😉) but I just couldn’t sympathise with Evan. He kept lying and made everything worse all the time and he got off way too easy for all of it for my liking. Maybe teenagers can identify with that but for me it was just weird. I liked the music and I wasn’t bored but I’m glad I got a relatively cheap ticket and didn’t pay Broadway prices for it. I have no intentions of seeing this again in London either...

I just got the email and wanted to book but there are no dates between the 21.12. and 30.12. Why is that? Does anyone know? Do they have a week off between Christmas and New Years? I really wanted to see this but this is the only time I could go. 😔

Does anyone know how they did the letter in Ghost that folded itself in Mollys hand? I could never figure that one out. I saw one show where it didn’t really work but that didn’t give anything away either... 🙈

Group of girls sat in front of us at Closer to Heaven last night. Loudly announced as they sat down they were only there as they'd got tickets from a girl who appearing in the show. They then proceeded to whoop loudly every time said girl appeared and pointed out to each other every time she made the slightest move on stage. So disrespectful to the other actors and audience as it's only a small theatre I had the same experience at Mean Girls on Broadway. 3 girls next to me and my friend kept giggling and squealing for a guy in the ensemble whom they apparently knew. He made it worse by looking and winking at them quite a lot (we were in the front row). That was really distracting and annoying. They were way too old for that level of fangirling...

You can always do rush if you don’t mind waiting a bit. I rushed Mean Girls, Beetlejuice and Pretty Woman in May/June. Mean Girls and Pretty Woman were front row and Beetlejuice was somewhere around 10th row or something but clear view. All tickets were ~40$.

I just booked this for the 9th of November. I’ve never been to the Old Vic so I don’t know what to expect but my tickets are marked green on Theatremonkeys site so they should be fine. Can anybody tell me the running time of this? And does it have an interval? I can’t seem to find anything about that on the website. But maybe I’m just blind... ^^

The worst one for me was the Wicked Show that was cancelled before it even started because the computer malfunctioned and they couldn’t move the set at all.
Once I saw a show of Dance of the Vampires in Germany when lightening struck the theatre and damaged the electrics of the soundboard. That wasn’t funny either.
On the other hand at another show of Dance of the Vampires one of the actors lost his wig in a big dance break. It was kicked awkwardly around the stage by the others while he continued in his wig cap. They all avoided looking at each other so hard but you could see them almost crying from suppressed laughter... The audience was in stitches.
I also saw Ghost on Broadway when the set malfunctioned and they had to stop the show for quite a while. They sent out Richard Fleeshman with a guitar to sing songs with the audience while they fixed it.
And I had a show stop at Company last year when a set piece didn’t come on stage or didn’t move off, not sure, it was my first time seeing the show. Some stage worker came on stage and ushered Rosalie off. They fixed it after 10 minutes or so.

I just checked the American Express presale...
Prices range from 89$-243$ plus fees during the week to 99$-268$ on Saturday night...
Well yeah... No.... At least that makes it easier to accept that I can’t go back to see it again... 🙈
I kind of fear that people are not willing to pay those prices for a 90 minute play without a set. Of course there will be the fans but can they fill a 1200-seater every night for 17 weeks?

As I'll be in New York when this debuts there, I have a question for those who saw it in London - I see mentions of the set being very minimalist. Is there anything that would obstruct a front row view? (The stage height at the Jacobs is quite low, so mainly wondering if there's anything on set that should deter our group from obtaining first row seats versus a few back for this). There is no set apart from two chairs and a table for a couple of scenes so nothing to obstruct the view. However, if the stage is deep you might miss the person that is not part of the action standing or sitting in the back. I saw it from row B in London and it was fine. And it’s amazing seeing their faces from up close so go for it.

Awww man, I am so tempted to go and see this. But I‘ve just been to New York four weeks ago. Why the hell are they doing this on such a short notice? I doubt I can go back until November.
It’s awesome that they all get the chance to do it on Broadway. I hope it will be just as successful there. But Broadway is kind of unpredictable... And it will be interesting to see if the Stagedoor will be as mad as it was in London... 😆

They had the same “the person booking the tickets has to attend the performance” policy with Betrayal recently and did not enforce it at all. All I needed to collect my tickets was my confirmation email and no one asked me for my ID ever... So I wouldn’t count on them to do that here...
I haven’t booked this yet as I’m waiting on a friend to decide whether to join me or not. I hope the cheap tickets won’t be gone by then. I hate booking that far in advance as I have absolutely no idea how things are going to be in a year. But I guess I will get tickets and then just hope for the best...

I finally saw this last Sunday and did not like it at all. I knew it would be different than the movie and I would have been totally ok with it but I just couldn’t warm to it. The set and costume design were amazing. And Sophia Anne Caruso was really good. I just didn’t find the jokes to be funny... like... at all. I think I laughed 5 times during the whole show. On Monday I couldn’t remember a single song. We rushed the show and so only paid 42$ each. Our seats were slightly restricted to the right side of the stage but I don’t think we missed much. I liked the second act more than the first one (which dragged on forever) but it couldn’t save the show for me. I guess it was simply not my cup of tea which is a shame because I liked the movie. I really liked the interior design of the Wintergarden theatre and the music they played before the show and during the interval. I wish the music in the show would have been a little more like this.

Don’t know how that sounds but this woman sounded like she was snoring. She wasn’t asleep tho... I checked... 🙈 In a quiet play this can be quite nerve wrecking.... @larrylightfoot: The security guys kept repeating that it was either picture or autograph and still so many people asked for (and got) both. And there were at least three or four “chatters” who apparently told him their life story...

Yesterday at Betrayal there was another early leaver for the Stagedoor. This woman got up like 10 minutes before the end of the show, then squeezed by the usher sitting in front of the door and still ended up in the front of the Stagedoor queue. I mean, there are notifications plastered all over the theatre now that early leavers were not allowed to queue. Why on earth don’t they enforce this then? She then proceeded to chat Tom up for an eternity, screwing a lot of people behind her. I waited until the very end of the show to get out and barely made the cut. Guess I was very lucky. These people really should get kicked out immediately...
Other than that it was quite well behaved. Only one short message tone and no sweet rustlers. But there was a loud breather sitting behind me again... I seem to attract those... 🙈

The Harold Pinter Theatre just addressed the problem on twitter: sourceThey might need to enforce it in the theatre tho... Just posting that on twitter won’t help much...

That really sounds horrible. I totally get that this can ruin the whole show.
I saw it three times now (yes, I’m a fangirl 🙈) but every time I saw it the audience was very well behaved. Ok, during the last show we had two or three phones going off (and one person that actually answered the phone, I guess? But he was cut off very shortly after...) and a lot of coughing. But no filming, taking pictures or inappropriate laughing (3x absolute silence at the hitting line for me now, thank god).
But I did recognise the absence of ushers and there are a lot of pictures online. Maybe they take it as free publicity now? No idea... I’m just glad I got the chance to witness three undisturbed performances...

I’m planning on seeing this next month. I’m really curious about it and I don’t really know what to think of it. The trailer doesn’t look bad but not great either. I hope we’ll win the lottery. I don’t want to spend a fortune on tickets. 🙈

Now one laughed at the show I saw either. I didn’t think it was delivered as a punchline. But maybe it has changed by now. However, this is not something one should laugh about at all, no matter how it is delivered.... People are weird sometimes...

@mrscondomine: The paternity question is in there too when Emma confesses to Robert about the affair. Robert questions his paternity because the timelines overlap but Emma ensures him that the boy is his because Jerry was in New York when the boy was conceived. But it’s all just talking without the actual child.
