Am due to go to Germany in Aug, can you tell me what the mask wearing etiquette is? Am assuming public transport and shops but not outdoors - eg in beer gardens. Would that be right? And restaurants - wear them till you get to your table and then take them off? Put them back on if you have to go to the loo? All insights gratefully received, I don't want to get it wrong! Yes, pretty much. I’ve never had an indoor table since COVID but I think you can take it off as soon as you are sitting down. You don’t have to wear it outside. If you have to go inside to go to the loo or approach a member of staff you have to put it on again. Wearing a mask at shops, grocery stores and on public transport is mandatory. Most places have signs at the door to show you what to do. In most grocery stores you have to take a shopping cart or basket as well so they can control the maximum number of customers. In most cases sanitizers are provided to clean the handles. I remember the first day when masks became mandatory. I had to do some grocery shopping and they literally were turning people away at the doors if they didn’t bring a mask. A lot of people weren’t amused... Now it’s pretty normal. And if you do forget yours, they now will provide you with a paper mask. I tend to forget mine at the gas station or when I’m going to grab a quick ice cream downstairs. 🙈 But as there are plenty of masks around now that’s usually not a problem. Some places will have separate entrances and exits now so be aware of that too. It’s pretty well organised over here, I really have to admit that...

I got myself one of those £25 grass bank seats this afternoon and I’m really looking forward to it. Over here mask are mandatory in many places and I have to wear one at work for extended periods of time so I’m kind of used to it.
The website states something about cancellations because of weather conditions. Will they do the concert in the rain and cancel for thunderstorms etc? Or is rain already a no go? I hope everything works out. I really need to watch some theatre again!
Edit: I just found the weather page. As they are recommending rain coats, I guess rain will be ok. ^^

I also wouldn't be surprised if theatres start to fit those clear perplex screens at the front of the stage to protect the audience. But wouldn’t that create a problem with the lighting? These things can be highly reflective and the big spotlights are coming from the upper levels so that could be pretty unpleasant for some people sitting in the wrong spots in the audience...

My last show was Waitress on the 29th of February... 130 days ago... I’ve since had to cancel two trips back to London and seven shows. Gosh, I miss it so much.

Oh great, thanks. I must have been blind. Sorry... ^^ Guess I'll have to wait patiently until they contact me then.

Has anyone heard from the Globe yet? ATG has refunded my ticket for A Doll's House and Six has confirmed the refund for my July ticket but I haven't heard anything from the Globe. I were to see Romeo & Juliet on the first Sunday in July. I would be willing to donate part of my ticket cost to them but they haven't sent out any information about refund policy and I can't find anything on their site either.

I got a shipping notification last week. It said I could track my parcel. However no tracking number was included and the website still says that my order was waiting to be fulfilled. So still nothing so far... I don’t even know if they really sent it. Guess I’ll have to wait and see.

When did everyone who's getting theirs now place orders? We ordered on 6th May and still not had any notification of postage. I ordered mine on 5th May and haven’t heard anything either. I emailed them but just got an automatic response. Not impressed so far...

Well said - and, on your last point, welcome to Britain! It's fascinating that we seem to be the only country where the public is urging a prolonged lockdown rather than wanting to carefully and thoughtfully lift restrictions and start to get things moving again. I'm convinced that for a lot of people it's just laziness... Nah, you’re not... For a long time most people in Germany have supported the lock down. Whenever there was an article about lifting restrictions they would have a poll and 70% would say it was too soon. But since numbers are going down every day (~700 new infections yesterday, if I remember correctly) people are starting to wake up. You’re not over the peak yet in the UK but numbers will hopefully starting to drop soon and things will change. Hang in there. I‘m doing a lot better lately. We had so much doom mongering. „People will meet over Easter, numbers will explode!“ - nothing happened. „Oh no, shops are allowed to open again, numbers will definitely go up!“ - nothing happened. Some of our districts are lifting the contact bans and are opening schools and kindergartens again. We’re slowly getting back to normal and I hope there will be solutions for travel and theatres soon.

I'm going to be brutally honest about my own experience now as I'm getting very frustrated by the tunnel vision of some people on here (not you) and the idea that this is only about coronavirus. It isn't. I'm just about managing to control my mental health at the minute, but it's getting more difficult as the weeks of isolation go on, and I don't know how much longer I will last before I have to ask for help and undo all of the good work I've done over the past couple of years in getting to a place where I don't need it. I am lucky that I have never been so low as to have suicidal thoughts, but many are worse off that me. Many people who aren't self-isolating alone really don't understand the mental health impact of all of this - yes, some will be happy they can hide away from it all, but many of us aren't wired like that, or at least need human contact at least some of the time, when we choose. To go without through no choice of your own isn't normal, it isn't healthy. Thank you for this. I feel exactly the same. I actually never had mental health issues before but since this lockdown I’ve started to develop some. I had a full blown panic attack last week. I’ve never experienced anything like this. I live alone about an hour drive away from friends and family. It was required from me to move here for work and that wasn’t really a problem as I own a car and could always go and see my friends and family whenever I liked. I also used to travel a lot and go to the theatre to escape the dull every day work life. Now I’m basically locked away miles from everyone. I never liked talking on the phone so that doesn't help me. I miss physical contact. I miss just meeting friends for dinner, to go shopping or see a show. I miss hopping on a plane to London. What scares me the most is that I don’t know when anything like that will be possible again. And every single day they paint new disaster scenarios on the news (over here daily infections have been dropping constantly but there’s never good news). I‘m back at the office now. We have to do business as usual. But there’s nothing I can look forward to anymore. I’ve got no choice but to work and then go home. Every single day. I really don’t know how long I can keep on doing this. I really hope we‘ll find a way to get some kind of „normality“ back soon. I don’t believe in a vaccine. It would take years until everyone got a dose. So we either find a cure or we will implement measures to live with it. I understand that theatres pose a huge risk at the moment and I have kind of accepted that I won’t be going to see a show in a long time. But life has to go on. At least for me it has to, or I‘m going to get real big problems pretty soon.

In Germany the ban on mass gatherings expires on 1 Aug - could be extended, of course, but it will be interesting to see how countries ahead of us manage the process of coming out of lockdown. The ban is in place until 31 August officially but it surely will be extended. They have already cancelled the Octoberfest in Munich which usually starts late September... Germany tends to copy other countries at the moment so I think it’s better to watch Austria. They are already planning for summer vacation.

Getting audiences to even leave their house is going to be difficult for quite a while. Well yesterday non-grocery shops were allowed to open again here in Germany. According to the news, streets were packed with shoppers, probably causing our chancellor to have a nervous breakdown... I wouldn’t be so sure that everyone will stay inside for a long time. Almost everyone I’ve talked to lately couldn’t wait to go out and do stuff again... Although I have to admit that the situation is a little different over here, so people are probably a bit more relaxed.

I just got my refund from ATG. They kept the £3,65 transaction fee but whatever.
Got my refund for Be More Chill two days after I emailed LWTheatres and now all of my tickets for the Easter weekend have been refunded.

I got the same email from ATG as BurlyBeaR today for my Seagull Tickets. I thought they were really rescheduling this but now it seems just like a generic email they sent out for every show. What a shame. However I’m glad they are finally processing refunds. Let’s see how long it takes to show up on my credit card bill.
ATG were actually the first to issue a voucher for me. I contacted them to get a refund about two weeks ago and heard back today.
I had tickets for Six today and they refunded without any problems. Kept me informed through multiple emails during the process. Very good customer service.
I had not heard anything from the Other Palace regarding my Be More Chill tickets for tomorrow so I sent an email today. First got an auto response but then an actual message within minutes stating that they had sent emails last week and asking me to check my spam folder (I didn’t receive anything). However they assured me they had issued a full refund so I’m going to wait and see. But nice contact and quick response from them.

I finally got my refund processed today and also got the message about rescheduling...
That’s interesting. I’m not going to pause my refund request as I’m glad it finally got through but I’m inclined to book again if they do reschedule it. I really wanted to see this. Although I don’t see how this is going to work. I’ve got tickets for A Doll‘s House at the beginning of July. I’m expecting these to get cancelled as well...

I've just logged into my ATG account too. Recent Orders only shows Pretty Woman, but then I clicked on Upcoming Events and the rest of my orders for later shows were in there. The Upcoming Events page only shows A Dolls House for me, just like the Recent Orders page... Seems like I’ve got a voucher with a number but I need a redemption code for it which might be the same thing Dom described. I don’t want a voucher either. I would rather have a full refund. This is all very weird.

I just logged into my ATG account to check for any updates. When I checked my recent orders it only shows my order for A Dolls House in July. Both my orders for Cyrano (which is weird but doesn’t really matter anymore) and The Seagull are gone. I checked my email and I’ve still got the confirmation email for The Seagull with my order number. The ticket would have been for the 9.4. So what’s up with that? Why is that order gone from my account? I haven’t heard anything from ATG since the general email about cancellation they sent out some time ago. Should I contact them or just wait? It really bugs me that this order is gone from my account. The ticket wasn't cheap... :/
ETA: Seems like my order for Good in September is gone too. Is the site glitching? Or should I be worried?

We rushed this on Saturday. We actually planned to be at the theatre quite early but our flight was horribly delayed because the plane needed de-icing so it was well after 9:30 when we finally arrived at the theatre. The line wasn’t that long so we kept our hopes up. We got seats on the far left side of the front row and the two guys that arrived shortly after us got the last ones on the other side. So close call...
I thought the seats were great. I was tall enough to see everything but the actors feet so I didn’t really miss anything. And it was amazing seeing it from up close. But we were seated right in front of those huge speaker instalments. Especially during Blow and Confident the floor was vibrating and we really felt that in our chests. I love a good sound system but this might be a bit much for people with sensitive ears.
Grace was on for the matinee which I was quite happy about and Kristie Skivington was really good as Anne although I missed Cassidy a little.
All in all it was a great show and a real bargain for £20.

An usher at Cyrano de Bergerac tonight who got out some sort of bar thing in a crinkly wrapper during act 1. I had an usher at Soho Cinders who came to the back row at the beginning of the show, took a seat and opened a bag of crisps. I mean... really?!

Thanks for the link. I checked it just now but I’m looking for the 29.02. and that is not included in the sale unfortunately. Stalls tickets for that day range from 63 to 110£ and that’s a little too much to book in advance. I think we’ll just go and check the box office on the day and see what they can do.

The stage is pretty high though! I was just wondering about that. I saw Rock of Ages once from the front row and that was horrible. We were barely able to see anything. But I don’t remember if that was at the Shaftesbury or after the move. I was kind of hoping it was after... 🙈 Well maybe there will be other offers closer to showtime.

They do £20 day seats at the box office. That’s great to hear. Do you know where these seats are and how many they have? My friend and I want to go and try for a Saturday matinee end of February. We are arriving early so going to the box office when it opens or even before shouldn’t be a problem. I would love to sit in the stalls for this as I’ve always been in the royal or grand circle. But stalls tickets are very expensive for that day...
