I’m only dipping in and out of this thread but Jeez there’s so much bitching about a show that hasn’t even run one performance.
I feel it’s an easy target. Hey, let’s jump on board and slag it off.

Saw this again this evening for the second time this month. Again, absolutely fabulous. The no-deal Brexit gag got rigorous applause. Where did they insert the gag?

It was a muted response when I saw it at the Kiln but that’s more a reaction to the gut-wrenching bleakness of it. A muted response doesn’t always indicate a poor evening at the theatre. It’s a good play.

Just bagged a single in the stalls for £13 for tonight’s last performance in Mcr. Third visit for me. After being wary initially, I’ve fallen in love with this show!

There’s heavy drinking so could easily be simulated throwing up.
Loved the original. Shame this isn’t coming up north.

Thoroughly enjoyed this, this afternoon. Penelope Woodman is now word and move perfect and did well. The scene between Owen and Williams when he touches her face has to be one for the history books if you are in row D as I was. Note - ends of D look through rails, not an issue for me, but some won't like it. 4 stars from me, more on my site if you want it. Not obviously classic, but the more you think about it, the more you will get from it, I feel. Very encouraged to read this positive review, but I’m seeing it from the end of Row F! The entirety of the play won’t be through bars, will it?!

Hopefully a more accessible venue to Manchester CC will be announced. Currently the Stockport or Altrincham showings are a bit out the way for me. Booking now open to HOME members. Be quick as not many seats left.

Is it not really unprofessional for ushers to comment in this way about the production/performers?

I imagine that if you die the last thing you’ll be thinking of in your final moments is, what about my theatre ticket?!

Really random question I know, but my Hamilton magnet does not stick to metal! Is there an invisible covering I need to peel off or is my magnet not magnetic?! Even if there was it would work through it! What are you trying to stick it to? Do other magnets stick to it? That's what I thought. I was clutching at straws! Trying to stick to fridge/other metal objects. Other magnets stick to it VERY weakly. Honestly, it's the crappiest magnet I've ever owned!

Just picked up front stalls for this week at the side for £13! Three of us going but we’re in singles close together. An absolute bargain. Says view might be partially restricted but for this price who cares?!

I entered the lottery but I doubt I’ll be buying, having seen the pricing bands. I’d expect for £150 to have the best seats ( as with her last arena show ) but i imagine this sort of price will be near the back of the upper circle. Nope, not with travel and accommodation on top. These prices are insane. And why? Disrespectful to fans.

Excited to see this finally. But I’m a tad worried it will be another ghost! But the original Ghost was great!

Just back from this evening's performance and WOW. It takes a while to get going - I feel this is the musical itself not the production - but when it does get going... it's wonderful. The leads will win awards for sure. The staging is simple but very effective. The big numbers work very well indeed. Can see why this is coming back next year.
Other random thoughts:
The actor playing Tony is utterly delicious. They have mugs and totes for £10 each and coasters for £4.50 with a lovely design on. What's the deal with not selling programmes after the show? Crazy! I walked all round and not a single one on sale!

Loved this last night. Funny, yes, but I found so much of this to be painfully sad. KP is amazing.

Worth checking for returns, people. Last night I bagged some front row first gallery seats for a future Saturday night. Most I’ve ever paid for an Exchange production but couldn’t pass it up.

I’ve just seen the last episode and I need consoling. I can’t even think of the last few moments. They’re too upsetting.

A good measure of a show is the audience response. Most in the circle are unengaged, with a lot of toilet trips and phone checking. This is like a sub-standard college production. Lots of flailing arms and skipping nowhere. Choreography is sloppy and cliched whilst the blocking is a mess. Sound design is also questionable, trading volume for clarity. Chap playing Burger demonstrates a naivity on stage and misunderstanding of the role. Going to stay for act 2 out of curiosity but not enjoying this evening. All in my opinion, of course. How did you find the second half? I spent tonight at the Opera House watching Abigail’s Party, far more pleasurable an evening.

Not all the character portrayals in this are as good as some I’ve seen but Jodie nails it and is so good!

Most of the second half is the hallucination. But I think it's a show you need to have seen more than once to follow it properly, particularly with the minimal set. Surprised people are seeing it for the first time, considering this production had a long run in Manchester before. I guess this says something about how people compare fringe theatres to mainstream venues. Not at all. I simply missed it first time round because I couldn’t fit it in. Always prefer Hope Mill if poss. And yes, the sound was not good at times. Not being able to hear lyrics in a show without much visual plot is not ideal!

What on earth did I just watch? Visually it’s strong and the production itself is decent enough but as a musical... it’s like being the non-drinker at a party where everyone is wasted. Do you need to be on drugs to connect with it? So little plot, and characters I didn’t care about. Okay, the ending is strong but there’s so much WTF in this, I was waiting for it to end.

Was at today's matinee, surprisingly not full by any means. First time in theatre since the two year long refit. Play pretty good, not on a par with Father or Quiet of Storm but good. The lad playing the title role is amazing. Bit of drama near the beginning when a prop flew into the audience during the first "tantrum". Annoyingly they were doing programmes, just the text. Baffles me why they do that, in my experience a lot of people will buy a programme but not a great deal will be bothered with the text. Zeller is very prolific, wonder if he needs a rest and come back firing on all cylinders? A book flew into the audience the night I saw it. I love getting a programme combined with the play text. It’s true I won’t always read the text but maybe it’s a sort of innate thing in me that makes me feel like I’m getting a bargain paying less than the RRP!

Have to say that I find the Royal Exchange’s programming very dull of late. Hardly anything showing in the main house has excited me for years.

Enjoyed this tonight and I predict great things for Laurie.
In the bar afterwards we heard someone with a French accent speaking to Imelda Staunton and Jim Carter (in the audience). Googled Florian Zeller and it was indeed him! I’m now the thrilled owner of a programme/playtext signed, dedicated and dated by Mr Zeller. What a way to end my theatrical holiday (the other three shows Come From Away, Follies and a return trip to Company). Back to Manchester tomorrow.
