I've booked a ticket based on the recommendations here and a desire to support given the recent goings on. Very much looking forward to it as it'll be the first thing I've seen since the Talking Heads in October, although it may as well have been October 2015 for how long ago it feels! Is this streamed through a website? What I'm really asking is will I be able to easily cast it to the tv?! I had all sorts of problems with the Old Vic Zoom stuff. Very happy to watch on the laptop but would be a more communal experience if I could put it on for my housemates too. Thanks in advance! The great thing is here that there’s a link to booktixlive- you can just navigate to it on the TV web (mine is Amazon Silk) & then from there you enter the code & you can easily watch on the big screen!! Yes had a nightmare with Zoom & Old Vic as had to mirror from my phone to TV so was a little grainy but no problem here, watched in HD!!!

Wow, this was brilliant this evening!
Had never heard the score and only seen the film version, I was bowled over by this powerful piece.
The Curve are once again taking the medium of streamed theatre to a strong level, I can’t wait to be back in one but for now at this high quality I can cope.
This is moving & powerful, get a ticket!!

Really hope tier 4 doesn’t effect this for next week, I’m all booked in for Monday.
If for any reason it can go ahead live, is there a previous performance recorded as back-up??

If it helps, I used Screen Mirroring app from my phone to my tv - had to pay £2.99 for the pro version of the app so it wasn’t interrupted with an add (to upgrade) but meant could watch on 50 inch tele & it was just brilliant (enjoy to all those experiencing the show this weekend!!)

I took the lack of ‘connection’ to be a stylistic & directorial choice, only being broken at the end by the resolution of everyones various storylines....and will say again that it was really great. It felt like being on stage with them due to it’s size. I thought this was a touch of directorial brilliance, it was a sly nod to the current situation but narrative it was a touch of brilliance with them finding that full connection at the finale (the holding of hands was powerful). What a brilliant production- so glad we got to see it...I truly think this could return to Hope Mill next year & perhaps down in London too (here’s hoping!!)

Great news, the full production was filmed & is available to watch in late November for £15 www.stream.theatre/homeI was at this show once again for press night on Monday. Firstly Southwark have done a great job making it COVID safe, yes it’s a little tighter now in the seats with a screen between yourself or bubble partner but it’s a measure meaning this show can be performed! It’s a 5 star production with 2 beautiful performances, glorious set design & lighting - I believed I reviewed last March but loved it just much as last time!!

Southwark Playhouse have cancelled their shoes, I’m keeping mine on credit as I do hope that ‘Indecent Proposal’ gets a run next year, it’s all such a shame

I went last night & I’ve given this a solid 3*
It’s certainly hammy in places but overall I found this entertaining with some rather spectacular set pieces, choreography & vocals.
One element I am puzzled by is the Gary Wilmont character, serves no purpose being a principle role & whilst I liked the song & his vocal in Act 1, I couldn’t help but think that this character could have been played by an ensemble cast member.
Where this does suffer is too long an act 1, some of the new songs are forgettable & repetitive in their intention to character build (especially for the King & ‘Ramses’) & the show is it as strongest in the big ensemble numbers with the songs moving the story forward & being inventive in their staging (excellent use of that big stage!).
Act 2 which is tighter is stronger than its first act & contains its most memorable moments, the tragic number following the deaths of the first born is effective & ‘When you believe’ is that moment it deserves to be!
The parting of the Red Sea was staged brilliant & that set-piece at that end of the scene impressive.
I should be back to see this again in a few weeks & I look forward to watching again.
It’s not perfect but it’s entertaining, full of vision pleasure & a commited Cast (props also to the wonderful orchestra & crew making the stage effects come to life on stage)!
Despite my note there are some bland numbers, along the ones from the film there are some good additions filtered throughout & I do hope a cast recording is made for this!
It’s Press night today so be interesting to see how this lands with the crictics as the audiences lapped this show up last night!!

Sara & Gavin now extended to 21 March.
It certainly has been really busy with this casting so a smart move although of course feel for Lucie & David as it means they are out of the show that bit longer!
Cast karaoke is going to be insane on Monday!!

Packed theatre tonight!!
My friend and I tried then failed for rush today so had to settle with Upper Circle F6 & F5 (I have been in stalls on my other 4 ‘Waitress’ visits but for £34 this was decent & no complaints!)
So yes the upper circle was full but this gave a great buzz & atmosphere the whole night!
It was magical to see Sara as ‘Jenna’, (her SUTBM was sublime)loved her portrayal! Gavin is good but for me not a patch on David Hunter in the role!
I just love this show, I will be back again to see Lucie & David again - I really am going to miss this one when we have to say goodbye this July!!
So I’ve seen Kathrine twice, Lucie twice & now Sara (maybe I should see her again!!). I like how all have different takes to the role!
Oh and today was the first time I noticed two of the ensemble males kiss in the ‘Bad Idea’ reprise end...so lovely & a sweet touch!
‘A Soft Place to Land’ & ‘You Matter to Me’ really stirred the emotions tonight too! Sugar, butter, flour 🥧

ALW did play a tune from Cinderella at one of the “Unmasked” concerts at The Other Palace, but I cant remember it at all now. He did, I was there too and I liked the song as it had a nice melody!!

I was at the matinee on Saturday & what a star turn from Marcus as the alternate- his performance was just brilliant & he shined!!
I loved this show (hadn’t realised it was such a small cast) but it was just spellbinding & very emotional.
There was a moment in ‘You Will Be Found’ that broke me!

Wow that musical was stunning (and couldn’t have been the most perfect show to go see due to its story strands & most importantly its message).
Absolutely wonderful performances from all but I must say I supported Daniel Boys since the ‘Joseph’ Show & it was a joy to see him as the lead (it’s very much an ensemble show but he shone) it really felt like he was born to play the role (and his performance broke me 😭).
What I found so powerful is that in Act 1 you start off feeling at arms length from these characters but become involved in their dynamic & fabric & then bam there is an emotional father & son towards the end of act 1 & you care deeply for all its characters.
Act 2 is a marvel, there’s a slight change in tone (very clever that two new characters get thrown into the mix) when we go from the ball game to its curveball & reflection of the time the story takes place.
What is so powerful here that it explores many themes, characters are rounded (they are not always nice in their ways or actions) & you care for them even though they are flawed but most importantly this has something to say & an important message about what a “family” is & what “family” means.
Lovely mix of ages & genders too attending this which is great for a LGBTQI+ story at its core....big standing ovation (deserved) & many tears (including mine).
I understand why this show is beloved on Broadway as a musical & now I’m part of it.
Beautiful show!

Wow that was pure master class in taking a classic musical & making it feel new.
For me that felt vibrant, fresh & relevant - the direction & craft on display is something special!
The effects are fantastic & the dark simple stage is genius for this, the choreography is something I never thought I would see in this musical and yes our ‘Evita’ is a bitch throughout and I loved the performance along with ‘Che’.
Very lucky to have a lovely summers night, full house & was worth the wait since booking this one!!
Loved the symbolism of the balloons too!

Wow some really negative reactions on here, saw this last night and found it to be a vital LGBTQI+ musical with a powerful story and message, good pop score, great set and great ensemble cast...for me of the best shows of this summer, planning to return!
