I'm seeing Showstopper at The Lowry in January but I was planning to book to see it at The Other Palace too, until I discovered that seats G1-4 and G22-23 are off sale. It's the same with Toast. Not great when you're 6'4" and the only two seats in the theatre that have decent leg room (G1 and G23) are being held back for every performance.
It's fair to say that my membership with The Other Palace has been a complete waste of money. First up, they released Heathers straight to general sale with no Friends' priority (despite early access to tickets being promised as one of the perks of signing up), with the website subsequently crashing due to demand. Then they changed the programming to include plays as well as musicals. And now the only two seats I'm interested in booking (and the main reason why I signed up to get priority access in the first place) are unavailable.
Oh well, looks like I have another date with six Queens instead!

Blown away by this last night, incredibly slick for a first preview. Slightly longer running time than the 2 hours 40 minutes advertised, clocking in at just a shade under three hours. The time absolutely flew by though.
Couldn't have asked for better leads - Max Bailystock in particular is fantastic - and the ensemble numbers truly stunning. If this doesn't get a flood of five star reviews after press night next week, I'll be more speechless than a pair of producers whose Hitler themed turkey is hailed as a satirical masterpiece!

Confirmed that there will be no rep season in 2019 which is a real shame.
In better news, however, the Everyman will be reviving Sweeney Todd, running from 12th April to 18th May.

Started the week at the Liverpool Everyman to see their rock & roll panto The Snow Queen last night.
Next up is the first preview of The Producers at the Royal Exchange in Manchester on Friday, then the queens of Six the following Friday at The Lowry.

The Everyman Theatre's rock & roll panto is a bit of a Liverpool institution and last night it was easy to see why! This year's production is The Snow Queen, with Everyman veterans Adam Keast and Francis Tucker returning for their 14th consecutive years, alongside a terrific company of actor musicians.
Nikita Johal (Wendla in Hope Mill's Spring Awakening) and Nicola Martinus-Smith (fresh from recent rock & roll pantos at Theatr Clwyd) brought sublime vocals to the central roles of Snowdrop and Laputa respectively. Much of Nicola's characterisation as the combative fairy was frequently very funny too, perfectly complementing the wacky antics of the two leading men.
Even on a Monday evening, the audience were into this right from the moment the house lights went down to whoops and cheers, while Lucy Thatcher as Viletta could barely utter a line a times without attracting a chorus of boos and derision!
All the key panto ingredients were there - audience participation with a singalong refrain for Adam Keast's Toni Cornetto, poor John in the front row (or 'Juicy John' as he became known to us) singled out for some lust and affection from Francis Tucker's Beau Peep Po, and a dance-a-long led by Nicola Martinus-Smith's Snowdrop. Even those of us in the Circle didn't escape a sprinkling from the customary water blasters!
Musically we had everything from The Beegees and Elvis to KC and the Sunshine Band, Right Said Fred and Take That to name just a few, all played live by various members of the company who doubled as the band whenever they weren't centre stage.
This was my first experience of the Everyman panto (and my first panto full stop for 20 years) and it's easy to see why this venue has so many people flocking back to its Christmas productions year after year. If you could bottle that feeling come the end of an unmissable 2.5 hours of rock & roll festive fun, you would pretty much have an elixir of pure joy.
Five stars.

Agree that Anne's trial was uncomfortable viewing but generally she's doing very well and it's been heartwarming to see the other celebrities supporting her. It will be interesting to see how the camaraderie and dynamic among the group changes with Noel's imminent arrival.
Emily Atack did brilliantly in the first trial the other night. I think it's between Emily, Harry Redknapp and Anne at the moment for King/Queen of the jungle but it's very early days. Looking forward to seeing John in action this evening!

This year will be my first time seeing any pantos for about 20 years! Seeing The Snow Queen, the Liverpool Everyman's Rock N' Roll Panto, next week and then Snow White at the Palladium in early January.

Cheers, but found two row BB seats for Manchesterford. Nice Xmas pressie for my Mum. Is that the second row there Monkey? The seating plan I found wasn’t really legible. Sure is Do we have an onsale date for the new tour dates? Pre-sale for Theatre Card members starts Monday 26th November, general sale from Friday 30th November. They're the dates for the Liverpool Empire anyway.

Looks like they may have jumped the gun with announcing this. It was confirmed during the season launch event there would be a co-production with the Menier but they didn't reveal at the time what that would be. I guess that once Fiddler is underway the Menier will announce this themselves.

Runs at the Manchester Palace from 4th-29th June. The ATG website shows dates from the 6th of June to the 13th of July You're right, it does, and that's presumably correct since they're selling tickets for those dates, although on www.atgtickets.com/venues/palace-theatre-manchester it says 4th-29th June. When was anything ever straightforward with ATG?

Edited to add: Actually 6th June - 13th July. ATG's Palace Theatre page has the wrong dates!

It's going to be a traverse layout for this, looking at the seating plan. Row K which is usually half-way back in the stalls becomes the front row for one of the two banks of seating. The usual balconies and benches will overlook either side of the stage so could have a much improved view. It looks like there's going to be a short row of on-stage seating on either side too.

One more point for the tour casting record: Ashley Tucker is now officially playing Ruth permanently. The originally-cast Ruth, Yolande Ovide, apparently won't be returning to the role & she never did any public performances. (Yes, I am aware that probably no-one other than me cares about this sort of thing!) Please keep the updates coming Dawnstar, they're always an interesting read and much appreciated! That's a shame for Yolande that she never got to join the tour but a well deserved promotion for Ashley. She was my favourite Ruth so I'm excited to see her again when the tour comes to Chester at the end of January.

A co-production between Theatr Clwyd and the Menier Chocolate Factory has been announced to run in Mold from 15th-27th April 2019. Presumably this will also run at the Menier either before or after the dates at Theatr Clwyd? More info for the Mold run at www.theatrclwyd.com/en/whats-on/orpheus-descending.

You obviously haven’t seen either show then. Fame is pretty dreadful. Only two cast members can actually perform and neither of them are the “big names”. I mean really, let’s not talk about Footloose or LSOH... Meh, I think both Amelie and Little Miss Sunshine are such odd choices. Amelie is probably more of a cash grab than LMS, but still. Not that exciting. Oh and of course there’s 9 to 5 at the Savoy next year... I will go see it for a free laugh. Ah right, so because my opinion is different to yours, I obviously haven't seen either production. Okay! Maybe you ought to hang fire on the slating of Selladoor's Amelie and Little Miss Sunshine until you have actually seen them though? Just a thought.

Is there any way as part of the online booking process you can express any preference for the seat you'd like to be allocated? I'm not really bothered how far back I am but would much prefer an aisle seat.
