Will it still be "actor musician" or are they going to push the boat out?! I don't think the show would be anywhere near as magical if it wasn't.

£20 for a front row seat at The Pickled Crab during previews? That'll do nicely.
What a summer and autumn season for the Ambassadors with Kathy, Stella and Benjamin Button! Two hugely deserved West End transfers.

Disappointing choice when there's already a tour of Little Shop of Horrors happening this year. It’s a very small tour (so far, as far as I know). I don’t think Sheffield audiences are going to be influenced by what’s on in Bolton, Windsor or Hull. They’ll probably just go and see it in their local theatre. I was looking at it from a more selfish perspective as someone seeing the tour in Bolton but who won't now be making what's usually an annual visit to the Crucible this Christmas.

She, however, stands out like an absolute jewel in this show, even though she's being asked to do stupid and unbelieveable things as an increasingly unlikeable character. I hope the critics are kind to her when reviewing it. As does Shira Haas, I was incredibly impressed by her West End debut. She has a great voice too. She's also quite lucky in that, unlike the rest of the cast, she doesn't have to sit through the entire show on stage every evening.

It was such a strange atmosphere at the interval for this last week.
Some people were furious at what they'd had to endure. Pretty much everyone seemed to he expressing their bewilderment and disappointment. Ushers were talking among themselves about how many people were heading out of the auditorium and taking their coats with them. I can't recall ever experiencing such a collectively underwhelmed audience response before.
Throw in the bizarre antics unfolding on stage and it all made for a thoroughly surreal evening!

My favourite bit of the scene that's shown on the screens from overhead (with Shira Haas on stage but invisible on the screen) was that there was a small trolley to stage right of the performers. It was on a different part of the stage though, where the flooring is visibly different, in the video. So, even if the actor on stage with Shira (Jos Slovick, if I recall correctly) had kept in sync with their movement in the video, it was very obvious that the screen version was pre-recorded.

I saw the final performance of this at The Other Palace yesterday evening after watching Cruel Intentions earlier in the afternoon.
It's the third time I've seen the show now, after watching it twice in Edinburgh, and it's so much better in its extended form. Running just under 1 hour 40 minutes without an interval, compared to 55-60 minutes at the Fringe, the characters have so much more space to breathe. The story has greater clarity and packs more of an emotional punch than the condensed running time allowed last summer.
It's such a beautiful story with a glorious, gorgeous, soulful and folk-led score. Sometimes a show just connects with you and sends your spirits soaring while simultaneously breaking your heart. We'll Have Nun of It succeeds even more in that regard now we've got more time to get to know each of the central characters.
Those four students at the convent school are exceptionally well drawn in the writing and brought to life on stage. Add in a variety of minor adult roles performed by a fifth member of the company and you have a cast who are simply sensational. Five incredible multi-instrumentalist performers whose chemistry somehow elevates their individual talents to a collective level that soars even higher. It's a joy to see them jamming together on stage.
We'll Have Nun of It is up there with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button for me as one of the standout new musicals of the past few years. It's a life-affirming, moving and effervescent piece of new musical theatre that I'm glad has found the audience it deserves and been so well received at The Other Palace. I can't wait to see what's next for the show and all involved.
Five stars.

Not sure if the ubiquitous curtain has been pared back but it was there for the first five minutes of act one last night and then for ten minutes or so ahead of the opening night in act two.
This isn't great but I didn't hate it. The five people to my left, who weren't all part of the same group, departed at the interval, one visibly furious at what we had just witnessed. I overheard ushers talking about how "lots of people have taken their coats with them".
I think it got better in parts of act two though. Perhaps that was because Shira Haas' character has more to do after her two scenes in act one. I certainly found my interest piqued more by her character and her interactions with Sheridan than anything else. Shira has a great voice. And if the show as a whole isn't going to take the roof off the Gielgud, Nicola Hughes gives it a damn good try.
Amy Lennox and Jos Slovick are woefully underused, as are the ensemble who just have to sit around a table for most of the night. There are some interesting and enjoyable numbers in a score that's otherwise often bland, with meandering dirges that add little.
There's going to be a lot of Sheridan fans who don't get the mainstream show they're probably expecting with this. The lack of a standing ovation must be noticeable to a leading lady who's received them night after night in past shows. There's some very unfortunate dialogue about how "half the audience loved it, half of them hated it" or something like that. Also shining the lights out into the audience at one point in act two only served to highlight the number of interval departures to the cast.
Overall, this needs a lot of work but I enjoyed the moments with Sheridan and Shira together on stage. That just about salvaged something from the evening for me.

I see that TheatreFan guy just shamelessly posted a “rumour” about the new Chicago tour that he obviously read here, like he’s somehow in the know, but then hides replies when people tell him whatever he’s posting is common knowledge. It’s the absolute lowest form of journalism. It's not even a rumour! I had the ATG members email announcing the performance dates and on-sale dates for Manchester this morning.

Looks like this is touring after its West End run. It's Manchester bound in May. There were 2 or 3 venues they should have visited last year & had to cancel when Peter Pan Goes Wrong went to Broadway which they promised to come to later. I know Bath was one of them, can't recall if Manchester was. So at least part of a post-WE tour will presumably be going to the cancelled venues. Audiences have only had to wait about a year! They went to Salford last year instead of Manchester and those dates at The Lowry went ahead.

Prices on Ticketmaster for a random midweek matinee. £101 for the front row of the stalls that's flagged as restricted view. £135 elsewhere in the stalls apart from the back few rows which are £73. Everything in the Dress Circle is £73 or £101.
Prices around £10-£15 less with Nimax directly but two thirds of the stalls appear to be off sale, as well as the rear half of the dress circle.

Somewhat surprised to see all the February dates and several of the March dates for this have sold out, with limited availability for the other performances, before this has even started its run.

This seems to have sold really poorly. Hopefully the casting news will shift a few more tickets.
I wish the owners well but, with so little coming up at the Hope Mill itself, it's hard to see how the current financial situation will ease for them.

I’m just terrified that people are playing the Live Aid artists in some way so that we get ‘tribute acts’, rather than an original tale told with Live Aid as its backdrop. Saw or read an interview with one of the creatives who was adamant it wasn't going to be that (or & Juliet style intros to the songs).

Oooh. What do we think? Full cast for the Lowry or maybe a West End run? I absolutely loved this when I saw it in concert last year. Pretty sure it will be a cast announcement for The Lowry. There's a private preview event, featuring interviews and performances of some of the songs, taking place at The Lowry tomorrow afternoon.

I notice on one of the promo videos on the offifial website the show has been done "in the round".I wonder if @sohoplace would be a good venue for the show.Once again it can't go there till May as another show is already booked to replace "Things" in March. That was the first iteration in Edinburgh when there was little in the way of a set. It's not being staged in the round anymore.
