Goodness. Putting legendary flasher Miss Barrowman into the jungle with real snakes crawling about could be dangerous. Is that wise? Someone only needs to be half awake and...
The medics will be on overtime I think.

Well, I recognised 3 out of 10 "celebrities" from the photos, which is more than usual, so it's a loaded year this time.

I was surprised to see John's name on the list as it hadn't been rumoured like all the other ones, he'll certainly be entertaining and could be a likely winner.
I wonder who the Trial fodder will be this year as usually one celeb is targeted. John and one of the younger girls you can just see getting the eating trial and lots of putting stuff in his mouth jokes by John.
I'd figure that all Celebs must have to undergo a medical before they go in, I wonder if there is any limit on how many trials they can be excused from. Stanley Johnson was excused from a lot on medical grounds last year. But it could well depend on whether they can swim underwater etc as Sam Quek an Olympic Gold Medalist was excused from some on medical grounds to do with underwater I think. The funniest one was when Tony Hadley once asked why he was ruled out and he was told he was above the maximum weight the harness for the trial could take - something like 16st and Tony was about 18/19st at the time.

For me, this is one of the most frustrating shows on television, on a yearly basis

I've heard of five of them. Result! I was just about to accuse you of exaggeration, looked at the cast and I can see what you mean. Three for me, the two old blokes and the older lady from the Chase. Guess that says more about me

It’s a total miss for me. It absolutely epitomises the desperation of celebrity.
I know, I’m a hypocrite because I watch SCD and RDR and CBB but there is an underlying frisson of vindictiveness in this that I want no part of.

I hate this show. I don’t want to watch it.
Barrowman, though...

I predict fireworks as there are some "tricky" celebs in this - Barrowman, Knowles and now Edmonds for a start.

I like this show. After a hard days work I like to watch a bit of harmless fun such as this. Sometimes we will watch quality drama such as the Night Of or a cracking good movie such as Hal Ashby's Being There (or something a bit more recent!). Life can't all be a 6 hour Czechoslovakian hand shadow animation about the holocaust. Sometimes a bit of mindless escapism is called for.

Is this a case of Barrowman never turning down work? I mean he gets great proper acting jobs these days, why is he doing this?

Anne's trial was horrible to watch. I hold everyone who has lost to her on The Chase personally responsible for that. As someone who also has Asperger's, I think it is so great that she is on the show and representing us. New environments can be stressful for us, but she is doing so well and she definitely has my vote (not for the trials, obviously).

I wonder how Anne copes under pressure on The Chase with her condition and can also perform in Panto.

Yes, a big fee for 3 weeks work and most importantly TV exposure. I noticed many months ago he wasn't doing panto this year and wondered why as he is one of the highest paid panto stars but presumably has replaced the income with this, and the TV exposure will put up his fee for panto 2019!! Apparently Noel Edmonds has been confirmed to be going into this and if the press are to be believed is being paid 600k!!! This must be for about 2 weeks work as he is not in it yet! He must have a brilliant agent! Plus he has said that if he wins he will retire from TV - is this a clever ploy for votes to win as he knows no-one wants to see him on TV ever again? He wont win - you heard it here first!

I have a sense that Noel Edmonds is a nasty piece of work. Probably from too many Popbitch mail outs over the years. I can’t see anyone who’s not very nice at heart being able to win people over in such stressful conditions. Although I haven’t watched Celebrity for years. It always reminds me of my mum, and she died just before Christmas one year. So it’s a heady mix of remembering her loving it and remembering watching it, completely grief-stricken, in the days between her death and the funeral.
Crikey. Got a bit sad there.
Does anyone have a gif of John Barrowman to cheer me up?

Agree that Anne's trial was uncomfortable viewing but generally she's doing very well and it's been heartwarming to see the other celebrities supporting her. It will be interesting to see how the camaraderie and dynamic among the group changes with Noel's imminent arrival.
Emily Atack did brilliantly in the first trial the other night. I think it's between Emily, Harry Redknapp and Anne at the moment for King/Queen of the jungle but it's very early days. Looking forward to seeing John in action this evening!

Anybody else think it's a change to have genuinely nice people in there for a change? The way they all support Anne is lovely and they seem to have struck up a nice friendship with each other much quicker than in previous years. I also can now see why Emily Atack announced a comedy tour a few weeks ago despite never having done stand up in her life, still not sure I'd be willing to part with £20+ for that, but then again she comes across as someone with a genuine sense of humour.

Is this a case of Barrowman never turning down work? I mean he gets great proper acting jobs these days, why is he doing this? Ironically I always think of John Partridge as the guy who never turns down work, I've often read he literally went right from one job to another. A couple of years back he did panto went into CBB house virtually the next day and then was straight into a musical a couple of days after CBB ended. I know he said he did CBB as it was good money and it helped pay for his mum's care home bills. John Barrowman isn't doing panto this year so has done this instead, Rita is going into Panto when she returns to the UK. I think people do the jungle as a challenge and the pay day may be tempting. Do John, Harry, Nick etc really need the money. Don't forget multi millionaire Duncan Ballantyne did it a few years ago!

As regards winners the bookies odds are still very open. Sair is interestingly the complete outsider. Harry and John are currently the favourites followed by Fleur and Emily. A win for Fleur or Emily would be a big career boost for them which neither John nor Harry needs.
If Noel Tidy Beard does end up in then I think he others will soon suss him out if he comes across as false. Still no clues if another person will go in. Meagan McKenna was tipped as she was seen arriving in Australia but she is on the ITV2 spin off show.
