I knew Sideshow had been done before, but not this revised version. Isn't this the original version?

I went to the friday matinee and was torn. The performers were all great (if a little too 'MT' for my taste) and i've loved the score for years, but the production is just do boring. It feels like an a level piece or something with the awful projections and repetitive, stale staging.
The thing about the original productiont hat brought it to life was the energy, the excitement and the danger.... but the only thing i was in danger of doing was nodding off!
A waste of a great score and cast.

I can't find any of these shows on the St James website - is there a new site for the new name? Or am I just being dumb....

If anyone with a bootleg fancies sending it my way... it might help alleviate that guilt if its shared between two people

I've heard a rumour on *the other site* that the alternate will be far from a disapointment.... And they're not selling tuesday shows yet, so the guess is she'll do those nights.
I've booked for April, and cant wait!

I personally think they should have a British composer but O'Keefe isn't a bad shout. As someone who liked Loserville, I've always thought James Bourne and Elliot Davis should tackle another musical. They have a new show at the union! (or at least James does, but i think Elliot is on the team too...)

Now I know nothing about it but didn't Ian Dury do a show called Apples? 1989 at the Royal Court!

The friday 5pm shows are much cheaper than the rest of the run - and have the added joy of not being surrounded by obsessive Kerry fans. Anyone know if the others are out on these shows too, or just Kerry?
(im not that fussed tbh, i adore the score and will happily hear it performed by anyone!)

I kind of resent paying more than £25 for ANYTHING usually... i go to the theatre so often (and as a theatre maker myself, i earn so little) that i cant really justify spending £50=£100 on theatre a week, but those sound like some pretty good suggestions Baemax, as i think i'd regret missing this. Thanks

Apologies if there's already a thread for this... The Donkey Show is coming back to london in (i think?) a new production, its at Proud Cabaret and if you book through time out today there's a 22% discount i just took advantage of! I've wanted to see this show for years, but unfortunately my trip to Boston didn't coincide with a weekend (it plays (played?) every Saturday night at ART's studio/club space. donkeyshowlondon.com/

I read that review earlier! Hilarious!
The night i went (Monday) there was a young child in the audience, he must have been 4 or 5 at the oldest, and after about 5 minutes, he started mimicking the choreography, playing air guitar and drums, and clapping along - it was amazing to see an audience not reprimand his enjoyment, but actively encourage it. The adults around him started joining in, and by the end of the show not one audience member could say this little boy hadn't improved the entire experience. People were shouting out encouragement to the bang, and it was an incredible atmosphere - it didn't feel like we were at the young vic, but more like a music festival or a gig - not just because of the music, but the audience were aware of each others enjoyment and consciously encouraging the experience as a collective rather than a group of individuals.
Interesting that the piece may not work without that little boy in the audience!

This is easily the best thing i've seen all year, such a beautiful production. Its basically a punk rock cabaret, incredible movement and great music (totally unknown to me before the show i hate to admit)
The audience were so engaged from start to finish.

One of my favourite Dahl's! Lets hope its better than the ETO Opera that toured a few years back... With Tom Scutt designing at least we know it'll look good!

I doubt very much that this will be at the royal court, they're a new writing venue and premier all their works in house. Lazarus has had a very public premier else where?
