Oh wow - i popped into a meeting and appear to have started a war. I think we all knew what i *meant* by saying Original Musical, even if it might not be the dictionary definition anyway. I'm not sure i read any reviews of this in Leicester, but the word of mouth i heard was all very positive? As long as its sensibly priced and not Menier silly prices i'll be there!

Im stupidly excited about this - what a great way to support new musical theatre.
Everyone complains that us Brits cant produce a good original musical compared with the Americans, then when a show is developed and worked on we all complain?

I was lucky enough to grab a ticket for this when they first went on sale, so I've just come back from a quick trip to NYC to see Hello Dolly on Friday night 28Apr17 I was there then too! Adored the production!

Fantasic - been waiting for this to transfer. Houston and Levitt are one of my favourite writing teams. When i saw it on broadway there was a fantasic chorus girl named Ivy Lynn... i wonder what happened to her?

A friend saw Sheridan Smith coming out of the Waitress stage door yesterday, which could maybe add fuel to that fire?

This is the 54 below show 54below.com/events/lisa-jason-another-hundred-people/ We might go there on Friday evening after Hello Dolly though, as there's a Friends Parody Musical Concert that could be fun.... but also, just a general bar/club might also be fun so we're gonna play that by ear!

Thanks team! Some great suggestions here I saw Cats & Saigon in London not too long ago, so not really fussed by those - and whilst i enjoy immersive theatre, i saw Sleep No More in London & thought it was the weaker than other Punchdrunk shows by comparison. 54 Below has a concert that evening, but i don't know the singer/actor doing it - but Joes Pub has a Lesbian Music Theatre cabaret night which could be fun!

Hi team, I'm in New York in a few weeks (and unusually for me) i'm in town on a Monday night. Broadway is pretty dry on a Monday, so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for Off Broadway - or even non theatre things we could do instead! Currently my main option appears to be the Percy Jackson musical, which is also pretty cheap, so it's not a terrible option - but if anyone can think of anything else super fun/exciting that we should look at instead i'd love to hear from you! Cheers

I'm not sure why anyone thought it was transferring in the first place, seeing as the entire production was always going to be shipped back for the US tour which kicked off just weeks after it closed here, and is still on going?

Agree its not LMM's best work, but i've seen a couple of drama school productions and its just SO MUCH FUN! Looking forward to this - hope they get a proper cheer choreographer for it too.

I'm following all the tweets closely, seeing as i can't make Sunday's show myself now. Sounds very interesting! If anyone wants my ticket for Sunday, feel free to DM!

So i am terribly excited for this... but i got a text from across the pond after last nights invited dress that didn't fill me with hope.
"Production quality: Superb, Bette: Charming, but brought to fruition everyones fear that she's too old. Her voice wont last the summer."
They went into more details re missed lines, and dropped baton's - but for an invited dress i think we can forgive that.
I'm hoping they're just being a b*tchy old queen and teasing me though....

oh wow - I had the totally opposite experience! I took my young cousins as a post xmas treat earier this month and loved every second of it. The team somehow manage to turn Fantastic Mr Fox into Fragile Maculinity: The Musical, in a brilliant way! I loved Greg Barnett, but the entire cast worked so wll together (and along with the ingenious design) completely transported me, and my little cousins.

Has Ruth done any shows? or is she no longer in the show... I seem to see a lot about everyone else going on, but nothing of her? (apologies if i've missed something... it's a long thread!)

I was there last night, and have to say... this is the first time the board has steered me wrong! Totally not my type of show, id dint smile once - let alone laugh. My friend and I were bored and confused the entire time, and had my friend been less shy we'd have left after the first 20 minutes.
Totally fine to admit its a taste thing - everyone else was loving it, and a few even stood at the end, we were not among that few!

Jessie Mueller is leaving the Broadway production on March 27, 2017. NOOOOO! 1 month before i arrive! Tbh, i had expected she'd leave before i arrived but still slightly gutted - its my most listened to score currently... any replacement rumours? (crossing my finers for Kelly Clarkson... but know thats just a pipe dream...)

Thanks for the heads up guys.looking forward to the Alan Bennett and Dawn French progs. Saves me forking out £4.50 on the Radio Times. Caught a film yesterday afternoon called Nativity with Martin Freeman that was surprisingly good. It was pratically a musical. The stage adaptation of Nativity opens next year, which i am cautiously optimistic about! www.nativitythemusical.com/

I saw Hackney's Sleeping Beauty last night and adored it - a great mix of Pop & MT songs, Sharon D Clarke being her usually incredible self and Alexia Khadime not annoying me for the first time ever! Gavin Spokes was great as Dame Nanny Nora too - i was worried about the lack of Clive Rowe originally, but if anything i preferred Gavin to Clive's past few dames... plus the audiences at hackney panto are always the most engaged audience i see all year round.
I'm seeing Cinderella at the Palladium next week, and it has a lot to live up to now!

Saw this on friday night having not read any reviews and, wow! It packs an emotional punch, and 3 exquisite performances. I even bought a programme, and i stopped doing that years ago!

Saw this last night & am still not sure what to make of it - i was front row to the side and a lot of it is directed to create a bigger image that just wasn't visible to us. I'm a huge Pan fan and helt this missed....something? Maybe the heart? I'm going again in January sitting at the back & am looking forward to seeing the flying sequence from there - tho worried i'll hear even less of Hook's lines then, unless her diction improves...

I saw the original production in New York, and just read Lyn's review... i normally agree with her (and maybe its just the Peter Pan fanatic in me wearing Rose Tinted Glasses) but i adore the play - and she has nice enough things to say about the production, so i'm keeping my hopes up!
(Though my Pan obsession didnt stretch to me enjoying Finding Neverland, so those glasses can't be too rose tinted!)

I really want to see it, but agree that the pricing put me off (and the general discomfort of the Wanamaker)
