I would agree with oxfordsimon above, however, the show is almost sold out for its week in December at the Brighton Theatre Royal where very little sells out these days. The prices are top dollar too - £58 top price and £65 premiums!! I assume it is Mrs Redknapp that is responsible for this - surely not Will Young. Oh in Brighton, its definitely a scantily clad Will who's selling all those tickets.

I'm sort of boycotting since the writer's a complete a-hole, but the production images are making me slightly regret it. Me too, but no regrets.

I was there last night too, and found it laughably bad.
The skimming over of important issues in order for more privileged characters/the privileged audience to 'learn from them' was appalling, and the few good points made (mostly by the teacher character) were all played for laughs.
It felt like a whistle stop tour of social justice issues, without any research.
After being horribly offended by the crass politics of Teddy Ferrera i wanted to give Shin one last chance to prove himself - his heart appears to be in the right place, but ultimately his work sets his own politics back about 20 years.

I will happily pay for someone else's ticket (yes, even a £95 ticket) if they take me as their +1. I mean, obviously I will be entering the ballot myself, but honestly, I NEED to see this, so if everyone who is not especially bothered can please enter for me?? If I don't win the ballot I will go out of my mind knowing this is happening and I can't see it.... I hate f****** ballots!! God this is going to be so stressful! I think I'm hyperventilating already! If by some stroke of luck i'm successful - i will 100% take you up on that!

I was sat behind the band and the 'set' and it definitely didn't feel like an in the round production. In fact I had to think carefully about booking again for this as my seat/the direction in regards to my seat left me feeling very negatively about the whole thing.

Sorry - i appear to have gotten stuck in a google wormhole and am not just replying to my own posts in stead of writing one long post. I guess the Old Vic production will be an expansion/version of The Trial of Dennis The Menace which was at Southbank Centre a few years ago when they had theyre big Beano festival on. A review by Lyn Gardner suggests that it was a good premise, but needed some work www.theguardian.com/stage/2012/feb/20/trial-dennis-the-menace-review

It was mentioned briefly in some announcements a while back, along with the Pride musical i think? Nothing very specific, but indicating Warchus' long term plans when he first took over. Would love to know more if anyone else has anymore details...

Slightly annoyingly, I can see a much better range of tickets on TodayTix now than when I looked this morning. It wasn't showing any £13 ones available then, and there's plenty now... Ah well, it'll make a change to pay effectively 'full price' for something and not just go in previews for once! Thanks for alerting me to these! Grabbed a few £13 ones just now

It makes me very happy that Richard Jones is directing The Twilight Zone. Not because i like his work - but because he is seemingly obsessed with doors. Every show he does is just an abundance of people running through doors... and (if i'm not mistaken?) The Twilight Zone opening sequence was a door spiraling away into space

I went to see this tonight, and I'll be honest - I did not go in with an open mind. I went in ready to hate watch the sh*t out of it - but i freakin' loved this show! The music really isn't that memorable, but it serves its purpose & the cast are fantastic and the script (which i'm presuming is lifted form the movie/play - i haven't seen either) its hilarious.
It reminded me a lot of my fantastic grandma, and how she dealt with the loss of my granddad & of growing up in a small village. I'll definitely be buying tour tickets for all my family.

These are coming soon & still no word on casting.... do we think they'll just use actors already on stage in their other shows, or can we expect any surprises?

This would be fabulous but all I ask is that they keep Idina Menzel as far away from this as possible. If not, I will storm the stage while she murders 'Nobody's Side' Every. Single. Night. Doesn't she only do Original Musicals? I know she did the RAH concert, but i thought that was an exception? Either way they're working on a movie of this now too - so the timing seems odd to develop both at the exact same time?

I adore this show with all my heart. It has all the nonsense and heart that made me fall in love with Kneehigh all those years ago, but unfortunately it just isn't suited to The Globe. The focus of the production was off due to the lighting restrictions in act 1 - i also didn't find the cast quite as strong as previous tours - but maybe that's just my Carly Bawden obsession.
I took two colleagues who'd never seen a kneehigh show before and at the interview they said 'yeah... its really fun but nothing amazing' then at the end both turned to me and said 'my heart hurts'
They're now booking again to see it in Bristol!

A11 and A14 in the lower gallery are probably the closest thing to bargains in this theatre (due to the upper gallery basically being a complete write-off, visibility-wise). There are narrow pillars in front of them but if you're sitting at the correct angle, maybe a cheeky inch or so closer to the aisle where you enter than you possibly should, then the pillar intersects neatly with the corner of the stage and you lose very little. It doesn't seem to affect the people behind you if you lean forward either, though the pillar can interfere with your comfort if you decide to do that. (It does improve the view though.) Thanks for the tip! I hate this theatre with a passion - but i love musicals & Emaa Rice, so i've taken a gamble on one of these seats!

THIS IS SO FREAKING RIDICULOUS.
I loved it so much, but had no idea what was going on and was physically repulsed by how ugly the choreography is.... but my god it's a good night out.

This starts previews tonight in Seattle, and they've released a few videos on YouTube from the rehearsal process - i'm not entirely convinced just yet. They seem to have followed the Heather's 'Dead Gay Son' trope of turning a classic one liner into a pointless musical number - though if the rest of the score was comparable to Heather's then maybe it won't matter?
This has great potential for a musical, and i hope this works (or that if it doesn't, the rights are released for someone else to give it a go!)
