Do we know when cast change is, if Killian is leaving yet?

According to @thepantoarchive on Twitter, the MK panto has changed to Robin Hood. And @mktheatre tweeted a Robin Hood styled teaser image earlier, it looks like Shane Richie is starring. Official announcement tomorrow.

I agree that it is very random and there were many more complex performances, take the Follies ladies for instance. And Audra McDonald was not even nominated for Best Actress in a Play. What is that about?

Does this make Ruthie the first person to have played all three leads?

Rumour mill on Facebook is saying:
Tim Howar as Freddie Michael Ball as Anatoly Alexandra Burke as Svetlana Cassidy Janson as Florence Murray Head as The Arbiter
Quite how true though, lol.

The show will be called Calendar Girls The Musical on the next tour (a wise move I think). It will open at Leeds Grand Theatre in August next year.

I went to the press night on Friday evening; script writer Jeff Pope, Cilla's son, Bill Kenwright and Paul O'Grady were there. All lovely to fans except for Kenwright.
Verdict: Kara Hayworth was a strong Cilla but I felt her performance went from Cilla impersonation to Kara as herself. The two elements of her portrayal need to gel together more. I felt she did achieve this wonderfully during the song Alfie - which gave me goosebumps and one of the best renditions ever. Sadly the big Act One closer "Anyone Who Had A Heart" I felt was orchestrated wrong. The instruments overpowering the vocals. Plus still not sure why all of the big numbers are staged at the side of the stage rather than the centre.
Carl Au as Bobby was a star. He really can sing and act... Great chemistry with Kara too.
Staging: A bit strange. The Cavern club does not have the famous wall, it's just a stage and could be anywhere. Everything seems very simplistic but it does work and I was O.K. with it.
The main problem for me was the length of Act Two. It felt like too many non-Cilla songs were added to pad out the time and give Kara a break. The duet between Cilla and Bobby, although good, was so very random at the moment they broke up. They have broken up, why are they singing this sweet song? It would have been nice to see this expanded running time used to examine more of Cilla's later career like Blind Date and Surprise, Surprise. I also did not see an Old Cilla despite one being mentioned in the original cast list. The darker side of Cilla from the TV show has also been lessened, maybe as a result of this now being a tribute to her life - I kind of get that.
Overall though, I was entertained. The story is very intriguing and the Merseybeat scene in the 60s was unparalleled. **SPOILERS** The audience was fairly badly behaved, as I have just read they were at The Band. Singing along to a Beatles song, saying "Brian's dead" before that was revealed and "it's gone to number one". Stupid. It was nice to see the show in Liverpool though; references to Everton FC and Cilla being from Wales got the reactions you would expect. I am going again when the show visits Stoke and hoping that Kara will have developed her Cilla to an even better one.

Press night in Liverpool is unusually a Friday (8th). And, also unusually for a new musical, there is only one preview on Thursday 7th. There is a VIP reception after for invited guests only. I managed to get one odd seat near the front for about £45.

When do you think we will hear who else is in the cast? Another worryingly late one like the ill-fated Bring It On. Surely we should know by now?

What musicals could Sheridan potentially do in future? Joanne in Company maybe (she would love the challenge of Sondheim)? Lauren in Kinky Boots? Chris in The Girls (I know she loves playing real people)? Would be good to see her play a Northerner. Maybe Tell Me On A Sunday (challenge of doing a one woman show).

Not long until Miranda's proposed leaving date. Who do we think will take over? I would love it to be a musical theatre legend like Ruthie Henshall, Claire Moore, Kim Criswell or even the divine Kristin Chenoweth whilst she's here for her Palladium concert (now I AM dreaming). Or one of the great ones from the Broadway revival, also dreaming.

I would love Claire Moore to play Carlotta like she was meant to a couple of years back. Perfect timing now The Girls has closed but you never know. Would be a real treat to finally see an original cast member in the show.

What about Simon vocally? Extremely good, particularly Hold Me in your Heart.

Saw the matinee on Saturday; both the cast and audience seemed so energised. A real fun-filled atmosphere. Simon-Anthony was a great Lola; more butch than Matt but that works for the boxing element. You will laugh at his delivery of some lines compared to Matt. He is particularly excellent at his impersonations of Charlie and other characters, capturing their original delivery of a line so well that when he mocks them it is pure gold. The sadder moments are also done well and he played excellently against David Hunter. What a fab pairing. Verity Rusworth as Lauren is sadly the weakest I have seen. Her singing is top notch but she has not found the wackiness required to fully convince; when she does it is only briefly then back to being Verity. I am sure this will develop in time. She also coped really well when the blonde wig went haywire in The History of Wrong Guys and was caught in her mouth for most of the song. Some great additions to the ensemble too; Jane Milligan particularly hilarious. Met Simon, David and Verity at the stage door. All spent time chatting to fans and signing/having selfies. Already making plans to see the show next year for my fifth time.

Saw the tour in Wolverhampton on Thursday night and honestly think it's one of the best shows I've seen this year. The set is magnificent and John Partridge really does give his all to the roles of Zaza/Albin. He has a really expressive face, which adds so much to both the comedy and heartfelt moments. His ad libs with the audience were hysterically funny. I Am What I Am maybe not the best but still very passionately done. The relationship between him and Adrian Zmed was believable. Adrian seemed to stumble on a few lines but still gave a really stellar performance. Marti Webb, if underused as Jacqueline, made a real impression whenever she did get to use her phenomenal voice (much stronger than when she was wearing it out in Tell Me on a Sunday). I think the show is very slow to get going; We Are What We Are far too long and it seems like an age before Albin comes on but after that it's a really fun-filled farce.
Added bonus was we got to attend a post-show Q&A with Adrian and Marti. Marti told me she prefers doing an ensemble show to a solo one like Sunday. She didn't know what she was getting herself into when she took on Sunday and it was scary being onstage alone. The cast seem really close knit and that does come across in the show.

Darius to play Mr Arnstein when Funny Girl returns to Manchester in August for its final shows. Exciting! I wondered whether this would happen when Darius did the Edinburgh shows with Sheridan. Booked for the closing night, anyone else going?

Why are they dong all this promotion for a show that's closing? It is touring again next year and I think Ryan set-up his gigs for the fans.

A lot going on at the moment in the run up to the show closing on March 26th. Loved the 16 guys on Let It Shine and Ryan Molloy is doing farewell JB live gigs at the Hippodrome Casino on the afternoons of 25th and 26th March where he has promised the original line-up of Jersey Boys will appear. Plus in a cryptic post on his Facebook page possibly Ant and Dec? Although I know he has been known to talk nonsensical before. I am seeing Ryan's gig and the closing show, so rather excited. Anyone else a big fan of this show? Also wondering whether Mr Valli will make an appearance, as he did in Vegas and on Broadway. I see his concert schedule is light around that time.
