22 June. Seat B3 in Royal Circle. Slight restriction of stage left. Three Stars. I wish Caryl Churchill had written this instead.

While not "Official" - there is, of course, at least one video of the Hamilton performance (for now)

Good luck to those trying to attend - I see there is a Heat Advisory. And, now, it is the King's Birthday parade the same day? I will anxiously await the uploads to YouTube and Twitter/Instagram

Slight update: We have booked Motive and Cue; Pillowman, and Mincemeat. Unfortunately, had to pay top price for Mincemeat, and ordinarily would have waited to book, but it was one of the shows I most wanted to see (having missed it last summer - my bad).

I thought Tattoo sounded too much like Katy Perry's Firework. Too bad writing a song didnt work for Muller. Next time she should write a novel.

Did some Googling of my own and stumbled upon a few YouTube videos of Mason Alexander Park as Hedwig in the US national tour of the production that opened in NY with Neil Patrick Harris at the helm. Based on that, I can definitely see why they'd be considered a good fit for the EmCee, and clearly they are a competent and reliable performer if they were chosen to lead the touring production stepping in the role that NPH had been spectacular in on Broadway. Besides, given the stamp that Eddie Redmayne - whose vocals are solid, but not out of this world good - has given the role in this production, the performer's charisma, energy and physicality count more than anything else, and someone who's played Hedwig should easily pass the test in those departments. On the other hand, I haven't been able to find examples of Maude Apatow's singing/performing. The fact that the LSOH production has published videos with almost all the other actresses who've played / are playing Audrey, including Tammy Blanchard - who brought to life an unusual and interesting portrayal of Audrey, but wasn't quite vocally flawless - but not a single one with Apatow does make me wonder... Of course I also wonder whether these names are big enough to command the ticket pricing that was originally deemed "justified" when Redmayne and Buckley were cast, but the show has been running for a year and a half now and despite the cast having changed to include leads with maybe less of a resume/name it keeps selling reasonably well, the lottery remains super tough to win, there's still a certain buzz about it, it's a well-known title that can sell to tourists and those have been returning to London in recent months... so I feel that it can continue to run with that pricing for another while! Note: Euan Morton led the US National Tour of Hedwig. Park was the Standby.

That opening number - SOOO American. Why do we have to follow everything they do?! Utter cringe/cheesy AF. You will have to ask "Anna Waddington" about it.

In fairness to the Oliviers, when The Band's Visit won all those Tony Awards, the other eligible musicals were: Escape to Margaritaville Frozen Mean Girls Prince of Broadway SpongeBob SquarePants Summer: The Donna Summer Musical and the revivals of Carousel, My Fair Lady and Once On This Island didn't create much excitement, once the shows were seen.

Too bad about not seeing Hawley! It was a highlight or lowlight - it was definitely a different light! A shame about Dame Phillips - she spoke about much more than the ballet shoes - she spoke about the struggles of women and eloquently so. I'm sure most of Jacobi's stories have been told in other venues/shows, but he is such a joy to just listen to. He talked about starting at Birmingham, playing Laertes and being invited by Olivier to the National - then more about Olivier and less about Jacobi.

How much of Jacobi, Hawley and Dame Arlene Phillips speeches were left in? (I guess that's difficult to answer if you didn't see the live versions. So, Jacobi seemed like he spoke for near 10 minutes, with many Olivier stories. Dame Phillipos also spoke for at least 10 minutes, it seemed. And Hawley, well, it was more than 40 seconds!) And what did they do of Hawley.

Beverly Knight gets her award. I have no idea if it's deserved for her performance, but she has been such a stalwart and sold so many tickets to so many shows, this is well earned.

Ms. Waddingham, perhaps, is taking advantage that the show will be edited for broadcast later! Her next hosting gig - Eurovision - will be .... different. I presume.

I really hope Band's Visit do something other than Omar Sharif, it'd be great if they did one of the more rousing numbers like Beat of your Heart or Answer Me. Tammy Faye should definitely do the clappy song from Act 2, but no doubt they'll go for that dirgey endless ballad. Well, they did Omar Sharif

On the possible list with recent announcements: Mark Rylance in Dr. Semmelweis and now Brokeback Mountain. However, neither is tantalizing enough to pre-book - as yet.
