In that category, Brainstorm and last year's Jungle Cruise. I love both, despite their being widely derided. For humour and pure escapist fun, Jungle Cruise is as good as it gets, and the late, great cinematographer Douglas Trumbull's vision, as director, of the ill-fated Brainstorm is stunning. You might enjoy this take on Jungle Cruise:

Congrats to the production - but, it won't be performing while we are in the UK! We are there after it closes at the Pinter and leave before it opens at Savoy. Sigh.

Yah , tonight March 6th 2023 at sister act at the Hippodrome I finally clear my backlog of COVID hit shows. This one got rescheduled four times I think, know there is still the commitments and strictly ballroom doing their delayed tour completion but end of a era for me with this show and wondering if it would ever come to pass in those seemly endless months of lockdown Hopefully we will never see theatres darken for so long again. Hopefully, there never will be a need for theatres to darken again.

I remember hearing stories at the time about people complaining that 'My Heart Will Go On' wasn't in it, or asking who was playing Jack and Rose. And if I'm remembering rightly, Forbidden Broadway had a field day with both film and show. When I saw it at Charing Cross, there was a teenage girl sat near us who, when informed it had nothing to do with the film, was disappointed that her world wasn't about to be rocked by the musical theatre equivalent of a young Leonardo DiCaprio. "Sorry dear, this one's about all the middle-aged people on board". There are young couples and persons - e.g. Lady's Maid. But, you can have quite the male beefcake in Barrett's Song which would rock a young person's world more than Mr. DiCaprio.

Mrs NCBears is five feet tall. I'm guessing that the immersive standing area would mean she would have difficulty seeing much of the show.

The Motive and the Cue at the NT has just extended to mid July. I'm very interested in it Thanks. I will wait until this actually is performed and reviewed, because this just sounds .... odd. It could be great, or it could be Great Britain.

Oklahoma! at the Wyndham's, Groundhog Day at the Old Vic, Cabaret at the Kit Kat. They haven't opened yet but these seem interesting: Aspects of Love at the Lyric, Crazy for You at the Gillian Lynne, Guys and Dolls at the Bridge, Mrs Doubtfire at Shaftesbury, Rose at the Ambassadors. Chichester season is pretty exciting if you want to go outside London We saw Cabaret last time. The revivals of Oklahoma, Guys and Dolls, Aspects of Love (and 42d Street) just don't entice. I've never seen Crazy for You - but I always understood its selling point to be Stroman choreography. No interest in Groundhog Day or Doubtfire. Rose closes June 18. We missed Mincemeat last summer, but excited to see it at the Fortune. We might book it ahead of time. I've wanted to catch a show at Chichester or Leicester Curve. Hmm, a two show day of Assassins and Mom, How Did You Meet The Beatles might work. We have to be in Oxford by the evening of the 25th June. Look like the Curve has a ballet.

We should be in the UK from about June 22 to July 2. We don't usually plan too much ahead unless there is something special - last year, we got tickets to Jerusalem and Bonnie & Clyde ahead of time. Right now, shows we have not seen but might have interest in are Harry Potter and Patriots. But, y'all should have other ideas!

What's on Stage crunched the current numbers - for minimums - but noting that the West End is in current negotiations. Minimum Broadway pay is 1871 GBP. Major West End venues (over 1100 seating) have a minimum of 768.98 GBP. That's pretty significant -but the effect may be minimized as leading performers are not being paid minimums. Difference in Pay between West End and Broadway

Those videos unfortunately come up with a message saying they're not available in this country. If you have TikTok you should be able to search and find those two songs (for now at least). Alas, I feared such might be the case hence my statement that these were available on US YouTube, but twas worth the try!

The US YouTube channel "Still Watching Netflix" appears to have all the musical numbers. They have been up for two days, so maybe they won't get taken down.

I have no idea how much Eurovision will charge! The announcement just says: "Those watching in the rest of the world will be able to vote via a secure online platform using a credit card from their country, and their votes, once added together, will be converted into points that will have the same weight as one participating country in both of the Semi-Finals and the Grand Final." At least the votes won't be charged in crypto! (yet) Will be interesting to see who reveals the vote of "the world" -

Reportedly going to fill in The Lyric between Get Up and Aspects. Not sure how that makes economic sense, but it's not my money. What is the record for number of theatres that a first run show has played in? Lyric will be #4 and I presume there will be a #5 when 2:22 has to leave for Aspects.

Retiring from the stage per The Stage. Jacobi to Not Appear On Stage It was a joy seeing him in Romeo & Juliet as Mercutio in 2016 - for me, the best part of that production. In the states, we knew him from I, Claudius and I watched the BBC filmed Richard II here in the States. We had read it in school - but seeing it was a revelation.

Beyond some very very minor changes to the lyrics that I think you are probably referring to (so small that I can barely even remember them), the other main differences from the OBCR to the actual show if I recall: * "Just Another Day" actually misses the complete opening lines where Diana is sitting in her chair and sees Gabe come home late at night ("It's the seventh night this week I've sat will morning..."). Plus the entire middle section has been cut on the recording where they sing the 'only hurt' lines first with some underscoring while they are all in the kitchen together before it repeats again more energetically (which is on the recording). The opening number is much more satisfying on stage than on the recording in my opinion, with the total section running for over 6 minutes if I recall * In "I'm Alive" during the Broadway run they started doing the note at the end of the song (I'm ALIVEEEEE) an Octave Higher. On stage whether they sing this note or not seems to depend mainly on the capability of the singer as I've seen it done both ways in various productions * There is a reprise of "How Could I Ever Forget" if I recall correctly sung by Dan Straight after Diana sings it, which is quite emotional and sorely missed from the recording * In "Light" Gabe sings a very rousing high note for SHINEEEEE that is missing from the recording (usually always sung on stage now from what I've seen). Overall, the recording though is pretty close to what you'd see on stage and a nearly perfect representation of the show (but without the full context and visible acting you won't really get the full experience until you see it live - the emotions that came from Alice Ripley and Marin Mazzie were just next level). Just an amazing, amazing, amazing show. There also is minor line change to fix an issue with the timeline of the show. The OBCR also has Alice Ripley in Didn't I See This Movie singing "I'm no shoshopath" instead of "I'm no sociopath" - a little bit that always brings a smile.

The score is challenging. Alice Ripley pretty much ruined her voice during her run and on tour - she ended up missing many shows on tour (including mid-show at least once). (now, this also may be due to Ripley's "technique" or lack of "technique") We saw her after she'd left the Broadway cast for a short time and on the first stop of the national tour and her voice was already a bit tired (or more likely, not recovered).
