I love Tim Hortons. There are a few in Madrid and I decided to give it a go last time I was there. Better than Starbucks in my opinion! And great breakfast deals! I'm surprised there's no Tim Hortons in London at all. Is there not one in London? We have one in Birmingham so I assumed there would be!

I remember watching an Oliver Ormson vlog where he went to a photoshoot for the Rock Of Ages tour (where he wasn't performing), just to cover for an actor who hadn't been cast yet. He did make it clear it was only the body though. I’m pretty sure his photos were for Kevin Clifton whose face was photoshopped over, Lucie’s face is all over Times Square at the moment.

As a continuation from the Jamie thread: as a 16 year old myself stage dooring makes me anxious for a few reasons, one of them being the cliques that become possessive over it. It’s almost like there’s a sense of superiority because they ‘know the cast’.

Oh this is definitely my area of expertise. Gonna go at it from a slightly perspective though.
So the Hippodrome: I see the vast majority of my shows there and even did my work experience placement there over the summer. It’s a charity, so all of the 6% transaction charges go to funding company ongoings, including Summer in Southside which is a huge event for families in the summer, completely free of charge. Over my life I’ve participated in several workshops (particularly in primary school) with the theatre which intensified my interest for theatre quite a bit. The community outreach that they have is something I’ve always loved. When I did my placement in the front of house departments I was welcomed and trained with open arms and it was active participation rather than just watching somebody else do the job.
The problem I have in this instance is that with The Alexandra, the community outreach just isn’t there. I feel like I can’t say much because this is very much ‘say what you see’ and there’s just nothing. I think with it being ATG too the whole thing just feels a bit more depersonalised than the Hippodrome which is independent. It’s a bit like when you find a nice little cafe that’s its own thing, and it’s always a bit better than a Costa.

whaaaat?? I’m 16 and my £4.20 an hour on weekends could never manage that Hope you take full advantage of every young person discount going, No.. That aside, I just used one of those "what was it worth then" calculators, and found that weekend job wages have been stagnant since my own time in the mid 1980s. Back then, I was paid the exact equivalent of today's £4.20. Sadly for today's youngsters, mine did cover the cost of theatre tickets and travel with change left over each week. Trying my best! Also scouting every restricted view seat out there to save my money. Booked Jamie last night for my summer trip for £35 compared to the £50 seats right next to mine

Also, the real question is, if she is 16, how can she afford so many theatre tickets? I'm 30, I work, and can't go to the theatre as many times as I'd like to! I know of someone around the same age who has seen the show 66 times, paid full price front Stalls seats most times since August, including almost every performance in January. So younger fans are clearly dedicated and have the coin to go with it. 😂😂 whaaaat?? I’m 16 and my £4.20 an hour on weekends could never manage that 😂 I have to save for a while to book anything before I even consider booking a ticket

Sources tell me that it’s the same group from Heathers who have caused this. If it is, aren’t these girls adults?? Quite tragic really

Listening to the cast recording this morning, and checking my school’s website for news of whether the snow has caused closure... as I refresh the website I see the six magic words “School closed today due to snow.” At the exact same time that the lyrics “Bless this day, pinnacle of joy...” are playing. I’m not spiritual at all but I definitely believe that was no coincidence! I was hoping we’d get a day off so I could listen to this on loop but alas it’s not meant to be!

Oh lord please don't let it be Luke Bayer. He's virtually launched an online campaign for it, and all the teenage girls have got behind it (sorry that's such a sweeping statement). He just does absolutely nothing for me and he's SO much on Twitter (like, to the point I had to mute him - I wasn't even following him but he was EVERYWHERE on my feed). Glad he has fans, but nah, not for me. As a teenage girl I can confirm I really really do not want him to play Evan. Sure he’s talented but the way he’s approached the situation just seems really unprofessional to me.

Just watched back Valentina’s Today 4 U, she reallllly kept it to speak-singing which in all honesty was mostly just speaking. It wasn’t horrendous for those parts although it seemed to lack any actual acting, nothing phenomenal but there’s worse out there, the last note took it down a LOT though. What a mess.

Just seen on twitter that for the first time ever the Glinda casting breakdown now says ‘any ethnicity’ and not ‘white’! Amazing step

The £15 TodayTix offer has happened twice now in the last few months, trying to flog tickets before an announcement maybe? That offer is only usually for shows that are strictly limited or have already announced closure

I can understand looking for a poc specifically. That’s exactly what Hamilton does and it increases diversity. But it seems that some people associate the term ‘people of colour’ with black people only when there’s much more to it than that. "People of Colour" is such an grating Yank term. Let's not start using it in the UK too. I’m mixed race, I think I’m entitled to use the term all I want. I’m comfortable with it and the other people of colour I know refer to themselves in that way. Just because it’s a ‘yank term’ doesn’t make it bad?

^ Very this. I too wish we would adopt the same attitude as Broadway when it comes to cast recordings. With Tina going to Broadway this year it means that we can finally look forward to hearing Adrienne on record, though it’s disappointing that the London Cast won’t have the honour. With regard to Follies that recording ought to be out soon as it’s return to the Nash next month would be the perfect opportunity to capitalise on sales. Tina were recording a few months ago weren’t they?? Or am I making it up??

Already seeing Hadestown when in town in three weeks. I have a a lot open for one or two more... Company Caroline Jamie Any suggestions? Go for Company, this production isn’t one to miss, I’d be kicking myself if I’d chosen something else for my trip

Not that I was expecting it to be cheap, but I think I’ll have to be as far back as possible to afford this if that’s the case. Will still lean/slouch as much as possible if it means I can see Dolly coming down the stairs though

Oh you’ve so gotten my hopes up now, crossing my fingers that this plays through (not that I don’t trust you, but you can never be too careful when it comes to matters as serious as Bette coming to London)

Well it’s safe to say I’m really glad I chose to see this during its run! Had so much fun. Jonathan Bailey has the whole audience roaring and Rosalie Craig was just lovely. Also decided that I’m gonna make my alarm Patti singing RIIIIISE

ATG have Avenue Q tickets at some venues on 241 in the Boxing Day sale. Just got Saturday matinee tickets for Birmingham in Feb - Band A seats in stalls for £20 each(including fees) thanks for making a point of this! When I looked at the sale list I must have just missed it, gone for band b but still a steal at £13 per ticket!

Not as much as most of you, but I’ve seen 6 shows this year which is way more than I usually get to. As I said I know it’s not much, but I already have 3 booked for 2019 (and the Strictly arena tour) so here’s to hoping I break through the barrier a bit more!

Just a heads up for anybody in the Midlands or willing to travel, the Birmingham Hippodrome are doing £16 tickets for price bands C-D on Mondays and Tuesdays while it runs. I’m booked for Row U stalls on the 11th March with a saving of £20. Obviously not the best seat in the world but for the price I can hardly complain! Is there a discount code or special link for this? I'm only seeing the normal prices. you either have to phone or book in person at the box office, sorry for not mentioning!
