dontdreamit surely singalongs and karaoke nights are completely different things though?? A singalong performance for a jukebox musical is a good way to cater to an audience who love Meatloaf, for example, without adding any extras to the performance, and I think it’s lovely that you could have a good time at something like that! Karaoke nights are ultimately quite different and are being used poorly for marketing at this point.

This whole thing is about empathy. You don’t have to feel any particular sadness about the situation but kindness and respect for others feelings is a necessity.

Probably automation, the whole set relies on it really. A similar thing happened in London a few weeks ago I believe with the desks not coming up/going down

Luckily for me he’s only doing a week in Birmingham, shall be booking for the week after to avoid that They've now announced he's doing some (but not all) of the other Birmingham dates after all! Hopefully you don't have to change your ticket. Yet to book! However I am reconsidering - they haven’t stunt casted any of the other cast and so I’m willing to put up with him for one song. If there’d been others like in the last tour I would’ve gone into total overdrive 😂

I think they "dynamic price" particularly midweek matinee, as londontheatredirect.com advertise tickets from £9 at those - and you can pick them up via ATG as well. Todaytix also run discounts fairly regularly, it seems. I got two tickets for Row H in the grand circle for a midweek matinee in July at £10 each - definitely recommend looking midweek to get the deals

Actually, we can't celebrate inclusion as long as there's people demanding racial separation on message boards till the end of time, like you. That will never be the road to equality. Do you really think the intention of this girl imitating her idol (the basis of this show) has anything to do with how she sees black people? There comes a point when choosing to treat people differently based on race really isn't appropriate anymore. I don’t think it’s her intention to offend at all, but that doesn’t make it right. And I find it greatly offensive that you assume I’m promoting racial separation when I’ve done nothing of the sort. I’m not continuing this debate with you because clearly you’re making defences against arguments that haven’t been made.

Conmenting on blackface which is a hugely racist act is in no way equivalent to saying she shouldn’t dress up as anyone. It’s wrong regardless of the context. I think exclusion in any way, shape or form is wrong, regardless of the context. This clip is a celebration of inclusion. You can celebrate inclusion without doing something that is historically racist and used to demean black people. If you don’t understand that then there isn’t much more I can say.

For the love of God, please tell me that child is not wearing black face in that last video? This is 2019, why are we posting racist claptrap like that. Don't care how talented she is. I actually think kids should be able to dress up like anyone, if it's a positive celebration. That is equality. Only people who separate based on race and clearly put certain races above others see this as racism. Equality starts where your ideas end. Because how on earth can she dress up like any other celebrity/star she imitates, and only a black star should be excluded? I don't do exclusion based on race. Conmenting on blackface which is a hugely racist act is in no way equivalent to saying she shouldn’t dress up as anyone. It’s wrong regardless of the context.

Random question, assuming the production still goes ahead (lol)..if you have never been to Leicester or Birmingham before which would be a better experience for a tourist to do a day trip? Birmingham’s good if you like spending your money, our two shopping centres are right by the theatre 😂

I wonder if Joseph will be Ben platt he could come play Joseph and then come be Hansen for a few months Ben isn’t doing Evan Hansen, they’re having open auditions. And with his album release this clearly isn’t the direction he’s going in.

Have we worked out who was the person at the receiving end of Vicky Vox's phone rant yet?! Celinde Schoenmaker! She was filming Carrie accepting her award I believe.

Meant To Be Yours is my newest obsession. I've been listening to it non-stop, several times in a row sometimes. He's so f*cking good and has that extra umph Ryan McCartan needed in the Off-Broadway recording. So have I! It’s my favourite song in the show and Jamie’s is definitely my favourite of the two

I’m actually quite curious as to what people find offensive here, it’s interesting to see the context vs appropriateness argument. As well as that, if we’re talking about the r slur, I’ve heard that Layton cut it out

Great to see performers speak out about toxic audience behaviour and the sense of entitlement invading auditoriums. This isn’t about auditoriums?? Stage door is quite clearly the issue. I don’t think anything Layton’s described in particular necessarily transfers to auditoriums

Is the Grand Circle on sale for this? Want 3 tickets for tomorrow matinee and can only see a smattering of stalls and dress circle online!?!? Not for everyone, but if you’re willing to stand there’s on the day standing room available online

Saw this yesterday afternoon, I knew bits of the cast recording (namely the most outrageous bits) so I thought I’d give it a go and I really enjoyed it. It fits the Alexandra really well although from the rear stalls I couldn’t see the screens. As much as this show is fairly low-budget in terms of set, it came across really well and I thought the whole cast were lovely.

I saw this last night! Free ‘onstage seating’ offer for preview club members although the seating was just really close rather than onstage. I loved it. All three performances were stellar but Ivan Oyik in particular really amazed me, to still be training at drama school and already be performing professionally is something worth praising.
