Maybe it would have been cheaper without the moving seats? Wouldn't have made any difference as the equipment was always there, it was just putting to use what they had - and a great gimmick always sells tickets. I assume it's still flexible given that both War Horse and Showboat were done with thrust staging. Yes, fairly. They put one wall back after "Cats," and as I said, I think some revolve machinery went. the New London is such an ugly building but I suspect there isn't much they can do to make it look prettier. You try finding a 3 tonne tube of lipstick...Try asking Cherie Blair

I broke my Wicked duck today at the matinee. I've never really enjoyed the score but assumed I was missing the performance side of it. Sadly I still don't enjoy the show other than a couple of the big numbers. In terms of the cast I think I saw the same as daniel and pretty much echo his thoughts although I did enjoy Amy Ross as Elphaba. Wasn't so keen on Helen as Glinda but that might be a bit of me not seeing past the character. Glad I managed to get a £20 upper circle seat yesterday. Full of families which made for a lot of toilet visits and a lot of background noise in the 2nd half.

All I need now is to find St Elsewhere on some obscure channel and I'm happy. No need to go all obscure (unless you want to). You can watch it whenever you like on All 4. I love you!!

Just discovered the early series of medical drama ER on CBS drama. Great memories of this show and the characters portrayed. Hated the later series' and stopped watching about series 10 onward. All I need now is to find St Elsewhere on some obscure channel and I'm happy.

Has anyone done the backstage tour at the Gaiety, on the Isle of man. It's so full of wonderful Victorian stage machinery that I think I need to make a specific trip over. Please tell me 'backstage tour at the Gaiety'is the best euphemism ever!

Posts removed. Let’s talk about snow. Snow is white. Don’t eat yellow snow. Try telling my dogs that!

Both shows have been cancelled so I guess I don't have to worry anymore! Am already looking at tickets for the Wimbledon run! Ooof! I was very nearly going tonight, but had to switch to Tuesday. Sorry to hear that (though probably best given the snow is supposed to hit us about 3 now) We closed at 12, which involved a lot of ringing and rescheduling (luckily 99.9% of appointments understood and didn't want to come out anyway). I had tomorrow off anyway so plan to hibernate. Meanwhile current dog-sitting charge had never seen snow and took SOME convincing to go out in it...Bet you couldn't get him back in though....

Well, today I did a very stupid thing. I got up at 4:15am to hike the Tongariro Crossing. Don’t ask me why - I have no idea, I wasn’t going to do it originally! It’s a 6-8 hour 19km hike up a mountain side, which really should have been enough to put me off, and then the guide rejigged everything so we could do it today as *the weather was too bad yesterday*, which should have been a red flag. It rained for about 5 out of the 6 hours, we ended up absolutely soaked through and freezing, I fell over 3 times on the downward section following ‘the devil’s staircase’ (and yes, it is that bad), and the cloud was so thick that we didn’t see the glorious views that make the hike famous. It was miserable. So now my legs, knees and bum all ache. And we have a full day again tomorrow with a 7:30 am start, including abseiling into a cave. Madness. ...and I thought washing my car was a bit over the top......

Where is the list of venues please. I've seen the press release which gives the first 4 but other venues have been mentioned in this thread. It's only the first four that have been confirmed. The rest have just been heard from different sources. OK, thank you

Llangollen in North East Wales. Theatre Clwyd is a 30 minute drive with it's novel program, Venue Cymru in Llandudno just over an hour, that gets many tour shows. Liverpool Empire is a bit over an hour with good train links, Manchester an hour and 20 but with less good train links. London is a 2 hour train journey from Chester and I caught a Phantom matinee last year and was home for 10pm ish. Its far easier to get there than to my own capital city of Cardiff which is a 3+ hour drive on single carriageway roads!

To be honest I'm more impressed with you getting out of a pub in Flint without scars or a police record! To be honest I'm shocked we made it out alive. Scene: Pub, size of a small house. 7.30pm and 6 of us enter. Not another soul is in sight. Eventually a lady appears. We ask about food, oh no it's too late for that. Oh but hang on I'll ask. Man appears. Aye he can do food. I don't know if you know the film 'Never let me go' but there's a scene where they all order the same thing in a cafe...that's what we looked like. We got periodic updates on the food and eventually 2 old blokes came in. And (not a word of a lie) most of what we overheard was discussion about "The war". We did however escape unharmed. It's what we term in North Wales 'extreme dining'. Will be on Channel 5 soon!

There's a brilliant quote on the BBC website from a woman in Connah's Quay in N Wales, saying it's the most excitement she's had on a Saturday afternoon for a long time and that she thought it was fat wood pigeons jumping on her roof Well, she would wouldn't she. They eat the pigeons in Connah's Quay!!!
As for emicardiff Oh for a Mold Weatherspoons. Classy bird u inya!h To be honest I'm more impressed with you getting out of a pub in Flint without scars or a police record!

We've got two on our books at the moment:- Bella is 24 this coming Sunday. Looking to meet older 'gentlemen' who are willing to show her the world. Or we have Babushka (Ya Ya) who is 25. Loves partying with sly silver foxes. Please could you supply full name and address. ASAP. Ooh, younger than usual!

The ad's on here don't bother me, but on another site I seem to attract ad's for young Russian women who like older gentlemen. Well they're wasting their time then! Give 'em my name!

Ahhh, hot Ribena! Perfect when you’re feeling under the weather. I’ve made it as far as Hong Kong and am now enjoying some jasmine tea. Didn’t get a lot of sleep on the flight so a bit woozy, but it’s amazing how a shower and a cup of tea can perk you up. Got a couple of hours to kill before my flight so might find a quiet spot for a nap. Wasn't Jasmine Tea in the original production of Miss Saigon? I believe she played a bar girl called Hot Ribena!

decided to go for view over legroom taking the end of row C of the Royal Circle rather than the end of row S of the Stalls. I'm hoping that on the end of the row it won't be too bad even though I'm 6'2"! I suppose I'll find out if it was a wise decision come March... It'll just depend on your personal physique and whether you prefer to jam your legs under the seat in front or shove one sideways into the aisle, I guess. You make it sound such an appealing proposition!!

Would have preferred they use the book title of Mary Poppins Comes Back...Mary Poppins Returns just sounds weird. I'm sure I watched something called Mary Poppins Comes Again on a grainy video many years ago.........bit of an odd plot line though........

Babs Dickson was spotted in Covent Garden wearing a furry hat at the weekend #unsubstatiated #slightlydesperate Is that what @emicardiff refers to as an innuendo?

My 21 yr old daughter is a member of our local MT society. During Christmas she had a very sore throat and bad chest. That infection has gone now but she's concerned her upper vocal range hasn't returned. Is this usual/unusual. Any suggestions for remedies to help it return or exercises she should try.

Is this a thing now where people think it's acceptable to be on their phones during a show? It's so distracting and it also happened at Mamma Mia. I didn't know that audience had a bad reputation until this board but on my night they weren't rowdy and just this was annoying, as far as I could tell. So is audience singing considered bad behaviour at Mamma Mia or is it the norm with that (and other jukebox) show. I attended it last night for the first (and last) time and was surprised at the audience singing in the (more upbeat) first half. It wasn't always obvious to hear, but was when the cast suddenly stopped singing and the audience continued!! The clapping along during the first half I could understand and tolerate more. One reason why I've avoided the jukebox musicals until now.

Paid my first visit to the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton on the Wirral in September. I believe it's been refurbished and is a lovely environment with great parking and excellent spacious bar area inside. Great sightlines inside the auditorium as well.

Is this the version with Stig Rossen and Emma Kershaw? I've looked for it for ages but can't find it anywhere (or only at some exorbitant price). Love the Gothenburg live concert version with Tommy Korberg. Yes. I don't have a CD copy. Even when I was trying to buy it back in about 2008 it was already out of print. I like it because it includes more music than the concept album or the OLC. Isn't the Gothenburg one in Swedish, or am I mixing it up with another recording? No the 1994 Chess in Concert with Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra is definitely in English. Tommy Korberg and Anders and Karin Glenmark are on it. There was a later studio version (2002?) sung in Swedish I think. I found the Danish Cast version on youtube and listened to the start of it last night. Can see why many recommend it as the recording to get. Very impressive performances.

Chess, Danish tour cast. I always resort to Chess when I'm depressed about shows I love closing (in this case I'm getting depressed 3 weeks in advance). Do other people have this, one particular show they turn to when upset about other shows, or is it just me? Is this the version with Stig Rossen and Emma Kershaw? I've looked for it for ages but can't find it anywhere (or only at some exorbitant price). Love the Gothenburg live concert version with Tommy Korberg.

warm-up bloke made half hearted attempts to get our circulation going, but the wonderful Andy Collins he most certainly wasn't, and limp 'jokes' about his hamster learning to drive and falling asleep at the wheel made our very own Monkey seem like Eric Morecambe! He wanted material "cheap" so I just sold him the stuff I don't use, OK? Caveat Emptor and all that. I wouldn't be surprised if Caveat Emptor turns out to be another judge/presenter. Jordan Banjo?...surely not.....
